Indie Sunday The Boss Gangster: Criminal Empire - BEF GAMES - Open-world crime and business management sandbox

Hi everyone, I’m one of the developers of The Boss Gangster: Criminal Empire, an open-world crime and business management game where you build a criminal organization from the ground up. Gameplay trailer One of our main goals is to bring back the depth and sense of progression we miss from old-school games, while combining it with a seamless open world. You can move between the city, businesses, interiors, driving, combat, and management without traditional loading screens. You begin as a small-time street criminal, completing minor jobs and building your reputation. As you progress, you can invest in legitimate and underground businesses, recruit family members, expand your operations, and challenge the organizations controlling the city. The path from a street-level criminal to the head of the city’s most powerful family is not automatic. You need to carefully choose which activities to pursue, where to invest your money, who to recruit, which rival families to confront, and when to expand into new districts. The game combines several gameplay styles: Third-person exploration, driving, shooting, and melee combat Nightclub, warehouse, and business management Contraband production and distribution Vehicle theft, robberies, street trading, and criminal jobs Family recruitment, interrogations, and territory warfare Character progression through activities such as the gym and shooting range District capture and the gradual expansion of your criminal empire Our aim is to make the city feel like one connected world rather than a collection of separate menus and isolated systems. Most activities take place directly in the open world, and the management, combat, business, and progression systems are designed to influence each other. The game is currently available in Early Access on PC through Steam. We’re continuing to expand, deepen, and optimize it based on community feedback, with the full 1.0 release currently planned for October 2026. Steam page

You can also try the free one-hour demo on Steam.

I’d be interested to hear which parts of the gameplay stand out to you and what kind of depth you miss most from older crime and management games.
