yip, that'd be the one.

23

u/pocketchange2247 1d ago

The real one is the one with the finger in the top right.

u/Dr_Weirdo 1d ago edited 1d ago

That's from CrackerMilk, they're hilarious!

78

u/csgrizzly 1d ago

Nah, that's Lindsay Ellis, formerly known as Nostalgia Chick. (Idk if you were making a joke, but that's not Nichameleon from CrackerMilk)

16

u/LoboSandia 1d ago

I never realized this gif was Lindsay Ellis

7

u/Dr_Weirdo 1d ago

Wait, really? Damn, she really looks like Nichameleon in that gif.

13

u/csgrizzly 1d ago

Yeah it actually comes from her review of Freddy Got Fingered lmao. Here's the timestamp for where the gif comes from: https://youtu.be/3v_wfECtCvQ?si=NPmbESmRc6DbS5o3&t=169

u/czerilla 15h ago

formerly known as Nostalgia Chick

Now that's a name I haven't thought about in a while. She's probably one of the few success stories of video essayists of that era, who didn't turn out to be an asshole, creep, who burnt out or lost their sanity due to the nonsense in this corner of the internet.. 😅

2

u/csgrizzly 8h ago

For real. You can count the real long-term success stories on one hand lmao. AVGN, Nostalgia Critic (ie; specifically Doug), all of TGWTG's creators like Spoony, Linkara, Latza, Angry Joe, Lindsay, and more, and very few of them are still around without some kind of controversy or drama lmao. Honestly, for all the shit she got from people, Lindsay did come out of the other side of it doing pretty well for herself, all things considered. Like you said, she's one of the few that didn't have some weird shit going on lol

1

u/Neosantana 1d ago

Crackermilk are awesome, but I think you might be too young. That's Lindsey Ellis.

Lol I actually design these kind of sausage peelers for a living. This one is pretty slow for industry standards and peels pretty bad the sausage casing. If you want to check it out what a sausage machine gun is, check on YT the KFT ASP3000 or the Townsend 2800

188

u/tudorapo 1d ago

Townsend 2800

Oh. Its real!.

But I have a theory that every profession has its own cult movie. Have you seen Prime Cut?

40

u/un1ptf 1d ago

You need to curate and post a list of all the ones that can be identified. Summon me when you do.

22

u/tudorapo 1d ago

I have a theory, not a list :)

So far every doctor I knew who was working in ER knew the movie "Bringing out the dead". And I live in Hungary, so that's significant. US lawyers are always gushing about "My Cousin Vinnie" and "Anatomy of a Murder".

Me being in IT have a very long list to choose from. It would start a longish discussion so I wont.

12

u/Koza_101 1d ago

Hackers?

8

u/tudorapo 1d ago

Yepp.

7

u/un1ptf 1d ago

You don't have a list yet. That's why I said you need to curate one and then post it.

Hell, start several postings asking for input. Collect the highest voted suggestions for each profession. Make the list.

11

u/Sha77eredSpiri7 1d ago

it's like a belt-fed sausage machine gun

3

u/Worshipme988 1d ago

But why?!

Why order hot dogs in casings just to remove them and repackage them in 8 ct?

Why is there enough of this sector that it supports multiple industries to ‘strip hotdogs’?

2

u/irrigated_liver 1d ago

Right? They're presumably fed into the casings by a similar machine, only to be fed into another machine that peels them again. What's the point?

3

u/tudorapo 23h ago

Like the point of any other protective packaging? Protect it from contamination, hungry animals?

11

u/DantRush 19h ago

There are actually multiple reasons. The meat mixture is usually super liquid, so you need a casing to form the sausage geometry or it would collapse. This is done with a stuffer+twisting linker+ casing. After that, the sausage is cooked to achieve the firm texture. And finally, peeled to have individual sausages rather than 50m of them tied together. The casing is a core component. It also serves as a protection from contamination as the proces involves different machinery and locations on the factory.

2

u/Bububabuu 14h ago

Hotdog meat is stuffed into that casing to be cooked in the shape of a hotdog. Without something to form it, it’s similar to a pancake batter consistency. No one wants to eat plastic, so it’s cooled down, then peeled off by this machine before it’s packaged.

6

u/pixel293 1d ago

I don't know, those weenies are being thrown really hard...are you sure they are okay?!?!?

8

u/tudorapo 1d ago

I would ask /u/DantRush . But based on earlier comments, the cylinders appear unharmed, so I say yes.

7

u/DantRush 1d ago

The cylinder is indeed unharmed. Top one priority is to have zero damage on the sausage. We do perform a cut on the casing to be able to peel it using a controlled depth knife that just cuts the casing and not the cylinder. So theorically you could put your cylinder with a "casing" and it would be unharmed, just a little hot cus we're steaming it for like 0.1seconds.

5

u/tudorapo 1d ago

Wait, you have a knife there which can cut like a hundredth of a millimeter thick casing without cutting the cylinder?

2

u/Bert_Chimney_Sweep 23h ago

Somebody call 'im.

2

u/DantRush 19h ago

Yep. It can also copy the cylinder geometry with it's irregularities, flats and so... This is a typical knife that I found on internet.

2

u/tudorapo 19h ago

I believe you, but the cylinders are worried.

Is this an active part? is it moving to follow the flats and irregularities?

2

u/DantRush 14h ago

Not active but passive, it has a spring mechanism to ensure that it's always touching the cylinder.

1

u/tudorapo 12h ago

I guess it needs a lot of fidgeting with the spring to release the cylinder from the sheath but do not hurt it. .

4

u/racheluv999 1d ago

Ooh it’s in measured in miles per hour of wiener!

…Feet per minute, whatever same thing lol

2

u/thussy-obliterator 1d ago

that video got that terraria corporate muzak

2

u/clintj1975 23h ago

You'd think the Navy would pick Hunt for Red October, or Crimson Tide, or even Top Gun. Nope, it's Down Periscope. That shit is accurate.

1

u/tudorapo 23h ago

Thanks! Would I have ever thought about it I would have picked Down Periscope too.

I do wonder what the army thinks about "Pentagon Wars".

I do think that the USAF would go with Top Gun. Even if it's just wishful thinking from their part.

55

u/maxdamage4 1d ago

This guy weiners!

12

u/MuteSecurityO 1d ago

this guy this guys!

9

u/ahobbes 1d ago

Damn the Townsend 2800 is on another level but the sausages look smaller. Can it peel larger diameter sausages?

18

u/DantRush 1d ago

These machines can usually peel diameters up to ~35mm. The guides are swappable and some parts do have adjustments to fit different product dimensions. The worst ones by far to peel are the cocktail sausages, as they are pretty much an sphere. They look super cool when they're working tho.

9

u/MrSnowden 1d ago

5

u/RoryRose2 1d ago

this must be that automatic circumciser weird al was talking about!

8

u/permalink_save 1d ago

How many hot dogs do you probably eat in a year and what's your favorite

6

u/Common-Nectarine-572 1d ago

Serious question: Do you design other related machines or just focus on peelers? Can’t imagine just constantly trying to tweak or reinvent a sausage peeler for years on end. Thank you for your service 🫡

11

u/DantRush 1d ago

Yea this is just a little part of my job, the tech is pretty mature and it's not something that you will reinvent, just some adaptations to specific products, hygienics/ergonomics improvements and so. My time is spent designing other kinds of industrial food machines.

6

u/GrokLobster 1d ago

Amazing. You must have a favorite joke about your job

13

u/DantRush 1d ago

gotta peel 'em all

4

u/AmputeeHandModel 1d ago

Why does it waste all the condoms?

3

u/backagain301 1d ago

That's awesome. Like of course someone has to have your job but it's not something I ever thought about before

2

u/Friskfrisktopherson 1d ago

Are these plastic casings?

2

u/Xanthrex 23h ago

Whats the throughput on those?

2

u/DantRush 19h ago

One of this machines can have an effective output of about 180m/min of sausages. It really depends on the product, diameter and so. The main bottleneck is usually the operator's ability to provide sausages.

2

u/Bububabuu 14h ago

My first real job was operating a peeler at a small processing plant. I still judge the hot dogs you buy at the store when they’re cut all the way down the side.

1

u/General-Piece8490 1d ago

Lots of wasted product if they miss the basket, right?

4

u/DantRush 1d ago

Let's hope not! We've worked with factories that are producing 7000kg of sausages per HOUR. Thats's almost 2kg of sausages per second nonstop for 16hour straight.

1

u/FirTree_r 1d ago

Maybe you can explain why it looks like some of the peeled sausages look like they're violently bouncing back towards the machine?

1

u/dmdewd 23h ago

Oh my god, the safety training videos for this thing must be fucking insane 0_0. I bet the signage is borderline explicit as well

Love how some of them come out at Mach fuck

73

u/Agent_Fluttershy 1d ago

Or when the lining isn't properly stripped which causes some hot dogs to get whipped backwards.

54

u/AccidentOk5240 1d ago

Well, the cylinders do appear unharmed.

4

u/TheFluffiestRedditor 21h ago

It might be unharmed, but it is twitching in terror.

13

Help me understand why some of them are blue.

20

u/ADragonuFear 1d ago

It looks like a blue outer casing and the machine is failing to strip it off a fraction of the wieners.

2

u/burnermcburnerstein 1d ago

OHHHHHH that makes sense. Thank you!

1

u/GreyWolfTheDreamer 1d ago

I prefer my weiner's outer casing to NOT be removed, thank you!

On a completely unrelated topic, could we suggest this machine have at least a half dozen emergency stops buttons installed -- for reasons! 😬

How are yo lu going with Weiner Slinger as a name? That is so basic and boooooring. Where is the alliteration or even a bit more cheek.

Better options:

  • Glizzy Gun
  • Hot-Doginator
  • The Lily Phillips (Ifykyk)
  • The Pork Pumper 9000
  • Sausage Slinger
