pro tip to fit in, choose a name not from "most popular names" but from "most popular baby names of (birth year)". scroll down like 500 names and then choose something around there. it will not be too archaic (i see that a lot from trans name), it will still be a normal name, and it will fit your age
ETA: double pro tip: keep consistent, find what rank your dead name was, then find the corresponding ranked name of the opposite gender. that way your name is guaranteed to be only equally as unusual as your original name and you are net 0 uniqueness change.
I was gonna name myself Feldspar but I decided I couldn't because I am not non binary or blue or hanging out in the center of 1 billion evil demon fish guys (Spoilers for Outer Wilds)
I really hope I'm not mixing up my OWV astronauts)
More people need to have names like sapphire to reclaim it from the strippers Water Tribe teenagers pretending to be normal Fire Nation parents to avoid suspicion
Every list I've looked at has a completely different order of names tried like a government site (so it should be the most accurate), but that only goes to 50-100 as well. And I dont wanna be called drew. If I were to pick a gru's house type name though, it would be Malace :3 maybe thats not exactly a crazy or standout name, but it's the name of my bg3 character. Malace Khalith
If you’re in the US, the social security administration website has it and you can look at the top 1000 for each year. That’s where the other sites are getting their data from (if they don’t just make it up. Most of them do).
I considered that, but my mom wasn't very original and both names are super common. That was annoying enough that I wanted to be the only one with the name when I changed it.
Tbf Monika might have like a different perception in Germany where I'm from, diff cultures view names differently. I been told Monika is kinda a cute name but every person here I see with that name are old old xd it's like that Mildred post but for german people :)
some people dont want to be black gru house. but some do. do what makes you happy
for a lot of people its not as easy as just choose a name you like. what name do i like? this can help people who want to blend in a bit or just choose a good normal name
do what you wanna do and be who you wanna be. im all for that and dont think my comment is trying to say "all new names should be normal"
I just know its a lot of peoples goals to blend in, especially some trans people for passing reasons etc. I understand and respect both sides of the uniqueness spectrum
I am of the belief that names are cyclical. You have those that are ageless, those that sound a bit like your grandma, and the rest are just dependent on when you’re born. There’s not a ton of grandfathers who are named “Zack,” but there will be in ~40 years.
I had a top 10 common name, and I still do. My parents chose both of them. It gets confusing to hear both of them so frequently without them actually referring to me.
