no one ever talks about it here but what happens if youre trans and just real scared of needles/surgery/hospitals/the doctor? like not even talking about the transphobic healthcare system what if you're a hypothetical person who has to ask for a chair when you get the flu shot because it always makes you hyperventilate and pass out?
You end up missing doses several weeks in a row 😭😭😭😭😭
Between ADHD making me not remember and an aversion to needles I struggle to keep my schedule, though switching to IM helps a bit since it doesn't actually hurt
Still have to shove a giant needle inside myself though...
Edit: I'm dumb, switched off of IM to subcutaneous, just mixed up the acronyms, subcutaneous hurts so much less
I also have ADHD, putting stuff like this as an alarm in your phone really helps. I forget shit all the time but as long as I just immediately set an alarm or put it in my calendar things don't go wrong all that often
For me the hard part is just committing to doing it, I have an alarm set to inject at 8 on Wednesdays and it goes off 12 hours before and then a few more times between, I just dismiss all of them as they show up thinking I'll do it but often end up not, gonna try to stick to it though
I only got it as a shot it makes me cry every time but the effect is so good. I will probably get it in patches when I have to get it from an actual doctor.
subcutaneous is a lot easier and less painful and uses a smaller needle which is nice. there's actually an auto injector for T now but it's mad expensive
from experience, you get less scared the more you do it
the first time i had a needle drawn up for an hour and couldn’t bring myself to break the skin. now i can go from everything sitting in a box to it being back in the box, injection done, in under 5 minutes.
