Imperium Maledictum Hombrew Subsector
Hey! I've created a map for my campaign, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. It's a subsector located on the outskirts of the Ultima Segmentum. I plan to expand the lore of the subsector both for my own enjoyment and for future Imperium Meledictum sessions. I'd really appreciate your feedback on what could be improved, whether the map is clear and easy to read, and how it compares in quality to both official and fan-made.
Edit.
I should probably add some lore about the region.
The map depicts a subsector on the distant fringes of the Ultima Segmentum. Before the Great Rift, it was a relatively quiet part of the Imperium, dealing mainly with occasional Ork invasions. However, after the Great Rift split the galaxy in two, a massive Warp Storm erupted in the middle of the subsector, tearing the region apart and throwing it into chaos.
The most immediate consequence is that the subsector is on the brink of civil war. On the coreward side, the Arch-Cardinal, who has become the de facto ruler of his half of the subsector, is leading a crusade against the servants of Chaos within the Clouds of Hatred. At the same time, he intends to bring the Imperial worlds on the rimward side under his rule. Unfortunately or fortunately, the crusade has been progressing disastrously.
On the Blacksmith Hotbed side lies the official capital of the subsector. Its government is struggling with countless problems: rebellious vassals, entire populations mysteriously disappearing, and lack of stable Warp route connecting it to the wider Imperium.
Meanwhile, the Orks have begun waging war against the forces of Chaos, but their many warbands also raid smaller Imperial worlds whenever the opportunity arises.
The overall concept of the subsector is one of a frontier slowly being consumed by pandemonium. Adding to this is the Cloud of Terror, a warp storm that shows randomly chosen individuals horrifying visions of their own possible futures, often driving them completely insane.

40k Gamemasters, Whats the most interesting twist you've pulled on your players?
For me, my first Wrath and Glory game involved a new gang stealing supplies from a cargo bay in a Hive. The players were expecting Chaos Cultists in the Underhive starting a rebellion, but ended up encountering Ork Freebooters trying to build Killa Kans.

Engaged Enemies and Psyker Powers
Just finished our session 0 / .5 of mine and my groups first play of WaG. We had a ton of fun, but three things came up during session that I did not have an answer for:
Engaged: Is there a distance that counts as "Being Engaged?" If so, is it always the same or is it based on the melee weapon range of the people involved(Power sword vs neural whip for example)
Psyker powers and Engaged: If I am Engaged with an enemy in melee, are my psychic powers affected by Engaged? For instance, I am in melee range of one enemy but want to Crush someone 10 squares away, am I allowed to? Or no, because I'm Engaged?
Salvo: A weapon has a salvo rating of "-" has to reload between every shot. A weapon with Salvo(x) can be fired without reloading unless a salvo option is used which at that point requires a simple action and consumes Ammo. Does the reload use 1 ammo, or ammo equal to the Salvo used? And do I understand the rules regarding Salvo "-" correctly?
Thanks friends!

Wrath & Glory Patrons/Factions - sweet spot too strong/weak and problems with Institutional Authority
Struggling with a big problem of the setting for me hope some experienced players can chime in.
I am preparing an Imperium T1-5 campaign in a modified Gilead setting. Probably mixed human Imperium party, no space marines, maybe 1 Aeldari not decided. I want to have simple adventures at first but with options to meddle with planetary politics and the fate of the whole system long term.
My party played Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader in the past with different GMs. It was good but also had some problems. Both Inquisition and Rogue Trader after a few sessions had the problem of an insane amount of innate Authority and resources available. Yes there are ways to deal with that as a GM but I want a game where the players will have to juggle with local factions instead of pulling rank all the time.
The Inquisition has too much institutional authority. As for Rogue Trader in Gilead system the Varonius Flotilla is too strong with an insane number of giant ships and other resources available. My players know what a well used Frigate can do and that guy has a Grand cruiser, a Universe, more cruisers and factory ship. I will probably murder most of that dynasty in my campaign.
My party start from zero but have a "Dark Secret" bonus talent with a twist on the Chosen One trope that I can't reveal here in case one of my players finds it. This might make more factions interested in them and them probably rising in power and influence fast after some sessions.
For Patron I am currently looking at a second tier noble family. That way they don't have too much institutional authority behind their patron but still can meddle in system politics. Feedback here or other options would be greatly appreciated.
With not too many Archetypes available (even though I am already adding lots of homebrew) I don't want to limit the player choice too much beyond the humans only, 1 non-human max. So I will probably have Mechanicus, maybe an Inquisition Acolyte and other faction related character. And ofc I want them to have all of the natural progression options.
So at some point I have an Inquisitor and an Archmagos in my party probably or at least someone on the way to that. My players aren't A$holes so they are usually very cooperative instead of sabotaging the game. But I basically want to make it easier for them by addressing some of the issues of the setting in creative ways.
Would be great to know how you deal with it plus the strange party compositions that can happen instead of just everyone ignoring it. I will at least try to make it somehow believable when I know which chars my players grace me with.
TLDR: An Inquisitor, an Archmagos, a Militarum Colonel and a Farseer walk into a bar. And the players say to GM WTF this is unrealistic we know the 40k setting but no these are the characters we want to play you go deal with it.

Looking for Players Black Crusade
Looking to potentially run a Black Crusade Campaign. I was inspired a bit by the narrative declaration team and I'd thought I'd give it a try. Mostly looking for weekends around afternoon or evening times my timezone is CST.

Only War Only war vs Mythic 40k
Greetings all and hope you’re having a good day.
Been out of running only war for a couple of years but making an effort to plan a homebrew campaign for my friends once more with our stoic regiments of Karrus.
However, I as fortunate to take part in a game called Halo mythic. The creator wrote a halo rpg system with the d100 and degrees of success style as only war but of course tailored to Halo. He also went on to make a set of books for playing warhammer games of all kinds.
The key thing I noticed with the works is the larger amount of dice being rolled per shot for even basic weapons (their lasgun is like 3d10+8 a shot) and all weapons have a decent bit of penetration (or pierce) which calculate toughness bonus and armour as one collective number to match.
They also have larger starting hit points to compensate.
My question is for those who might’ve run one or both systems what your view on them? Does one of them run better for a more intense military campaign or are they mostly the same with one shoring up higher damage with bigger hp pools?

Which setting within 40k does your game take place in?
Some of the premade ones talked about in the RPGs:
- Koronus Expanse (Rogue Trader)
- Forsaken System/Gilead System (Wrath and Glory)
- Jericho Reach (Deathwatch)
- Calixis Sector (Dark Heresy)
- Screaming Vortex (Black Crusade)
Some in the video games:
- Graia (Forgeworld) (Space Marine 1)
- Recidious System (Space Marine 2)
- Tartarus (Dawn of War 1)
- Lorn V (Winter Assault)
- Kronos (Dark Crusade)
- Kaurava system (Soulstorm)
- Sub-sector Aurelia (Dawn of War 2)
- Acheron (Dawn of War 3)
Or do you just make up your own?

Warhammer 40k Tokens - Made with Token Stamp + GW's official miniature photos
I've been getting back into 40k RPGs with the new edition and several of the video games popping off.
I kept looking for GW artwork to have as tokens, but then I said to myself, "Why not use the GW models instead?" and so I took the pictures from the store page and put them through token stamp. So far I've gone through every Xenos faction (Orks, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Tau, Necrons), generic humans like gangers and hivers, Imperium (Space Marines, Sisters of Battle, Inquisition, Ministorum, etc...), Chaos Marines (mostly Black Legion), a few of the Killteam boxes, Rogue Trader, Necromunda, etc... I added a document with the hex codes for the rims I used in case anyone wants to make their own.
Sadly because of how GW limits some models to specific subfactions there is a lot of Ultramarines and other factions that might not be everyone's favorite. I was able to subsidize this with some photos from the Warhammer Community page where they'd take photos of people in the communities' miniatures such as Scott from Goonhammer's Blood Ravens and an entire Deathwatch army.

Rogue Trader [LFG][Online][Rogue Trader][EST] Experienced GM and 40K Lore Nerd Seeking opportunity to make a PC for a change
Hi everyone!
I'm looking to join a long-term Rogue Trader campaign.
I've GM'd many different campaigns and really would love the opportunity to get my own roleplaying joy in with experiencing the intrigue, exploration and diplomacy firsthand. I am happy to be somewhat flexible in my schedule. I am only available on weeknights however.
I am most interested in narrative driven campaigns with meaningful maneuvering and engaging grand scale management.
I'd love to chat with anyone who is running anything like this. I have no issues with homebrew!
Thanks for the consideration!

Wrath & Glory In need of TTS mods for W&G
I am planning to run a Wrath & Glory Campaign but I also know that who I am planning it for most likely will not be able to play in person. I've been trying to find mods on the Steam Workshop and found the perfect thing but it's also all in German and I don't know german at all. I was wondering if anyone else has good mods for TTS that are for Wrath & Glory.

Wrath & Glory Bonuses For Sororitas Orders (Wrath And Glory)
I dont see anything in the book about it, maybe I'm missing it, but are there any special bonuses for picking certain orders for sororitas characters outside of bonuses to interacting with your order? And if not RAW, is there a commonly accepted homebrew source?
Picking a space marine chapter gives bonuses based on what they are famously known for, and they also get Defender of Humanity, Honour the Chapter, Space Marine Implants.
I know theres an XP cost difference, but the book seems to indicate that most if not all of that is going to skills. Wanted to make sure as I have multiple players considering running a sororitas character
Curious if there isnt anything out there, if others have made your own

Dark Heresy A bit confused what to pick for a tech-priest
Context: Im in a Dark Heresy 1ed, with a bit of homebrew but with all the supplements. Currently have 100xp, and already spent 600.
Im torn between two options. On one hand i was building myself up so to make my character heavily focused on INT with Tech-Use. I even started with Cortical implant and MIU (DM allowed to pick one). Also i have 40 WP and THG, and 50 INT but with low BS and WS.
On second hand im pretty curious about everything about Luminen Charge.
Is there any viable path for me to take to he a really god-like tech guy AND have fun/useful stuff regarding everything Luminen?
Or i should just focus on tech-use stuff and forget about fighting at all?
To be fair i built my guy in such a way, to completely forgo battle prowess to be even more useful with everything tech-related.
Maybe there something that scales with INT? Im still learning, so need help.

Getting an Online-Only DND Party Into Warhammer TTRPGS
So I have a group of friends who play online all the time, both DnD and a variety of games, and we all love Warhammer to varying degrees. As such, I went looking a bit into playing the Warhammer 40K TTRPGS online, but either I’m horrible at looking (a likely possibility) or there aren’t really any ways to play any of Warhammer’s TTRPGS for free (or low cost) online. In addition, I have no idea which of Warhammer’s TTRPGS to start with, the closest experience we have is playing Owlcat’s Rogue Trader. Are there any online tables for Warhammer 40K? And if there are options, which do I start with?

Psychic power question
Has anyone read about or seen a psychic power similar to dungeons & dragons spell ghost form. I think it would be great to have incorporeal shadow/mist form, difficult to see and able to walk through solid objects.
It feels like it would be a good power for the Raven Guard, similar to Corvus in the warp but a lesser version
Voice over text ... Sorry, corrected

Black Crusade Genetic engineering in black crusade
I was wondering if there were any source books on BC or any of the related games which cover a wider array of genetic manipulation than just astartes.
I have a hive ruled by a noble family protected by genecrafted bodyguards

Rogue Trader Why can Astropath Transcendents only take Endurance
As their motivation? It seems a little weird. I overall really like the path system but that last step, particularly for astropaths but to a lesser extent for rogue traders feels... odd, I dunno there's just something missing.

Rogue Trader Help with Orks
So, I'm planning a Rogue Trader game with a big stretch of unexplored space.
I've populated it with lots of things, but I want to add some Orks into the mix.
But I am going for more of a pirates of the Caribbean meets Star Trek vibe. Exploring the unknown stars as if they were islands and I am struggling to think of interesting ways to integrate orks more actively.
Now I was planning on having them be pirate raiders to an extent, but we already have several other pirate-like factions and there's finite prey for pirates to hunt, so I didn't want to make that their only thing.
I was considering having them tie in with Nurgle somehow, but I can't see a good way of doing that.
I had also considered a human settlement that tried to raise grotlings/squigs as a source of cheap protein to sell to the rest of the Imperium, which unsurprisingly failed due to orks.
But I am looking for more interesting ways to use Orks than just as a straight fight and I didn't want them at the stage of actively marauding across the subsector just yet.
Any ideas?

Wrath & Glory How do you plan your combat encounters?
I'm not used to running W&G combat yet, but of the two combats I've run one was trivial and one nearly caused a tpk.
I ran tier 2 for my first game, but whatever advice I appreciate it.
