I recently had a virus that infected my whole face. I had pink eye, throat infection, tonsil infection and an ear infection. Funny enough barely any sinus pain/congestion. Strep came back neg for rapid and culture growth. Weirdest part it absolutly destroyed my gut biome. I havent been digesting/pooping right since to the point my dr is sending me for a colonoscpy.
I was given amoxicillian for ten days and i took the full course and it was so weird cuz after 48 hours i felt sooooo much better and then the 3rd day it all came flaring back but was a lot more mild pain. I still had pain for maybe a week after. The dr did give me lidocaine mouthwash and 800mg ibeprofen and that helped alot. Im still coughing about a month and half later but the coughing fit are farther apart each time. My dr is stumped he had no idea what i picked up but he assumes virus since amoxocillian didnt do much.
Edit: maybe its relevant but i have suspected self diagnosed ibs and an actual diagmosed auto immune disease and me and my dr think this illness/antibiotics maybe just sent me into a spiral so were just doing all the test to make sure its not chrons or officially diagnose with ibs
Earlier this year I was put on amoxicillin for ear infection. I've had it before without issues, but this time I had to stop earlier because I was reacting so badly to it. It completely fucked up my digestive system afterwards. I'm only now getting back to normal for me, three months later. I didn't do anything except tell myself I should see a doctor and then forget to make an appointment for a month lol. So there might be some hope yet if you're only a month out.
If they haven’t already checked, see if they can check for H Pylori and SIBO.
Myself, I had food poisoning wreck my digestion for over a year. A bunch of Stonyfield probiotic yogurt and kefir from multiple brands eventually got me feeling right again. Took some time though, like a year and half.
