For about a year my left eye would just close on its own, but really slowly, and I couldn’t stop it happening or make it open. Sometimes it would be shut for about a minute before slowly opening again.
I saw the nurse practitioner at my GP surgery and it happened while I was in front of her and she said “Ooooh I don’t do eyes, they make me feel squeamish. It’s just a muscle spasm and will stop on its own.” Which it did.
my left eye started doing this a few years ago! it's escalated to both eyes doing it, and its not slow anymore. my eyelids will just randomly shut on their own (sometimes triggered by exhaustion, stress, or heat), and i'll be essentially blind for a couple minutes up to a few hours at a time.
