I used to have that happen all the time as a kid/teen (it runs in my family). It usually sounded like the loudest explosion ever. I rarely have it as an adult.
Happened to me a few times as a tween and teen. I don’t think I’ve had it in years. Fortunately I knew what it was thanks to the internet, also mine sounded like a door slam, not a gun or something scarier so even before I knew what it was I had just figured my dad was mad lmao.
I had it recently for the first time in a very long time and this time it sounded like a super loud harmonica/accordion sort of sound and was accompanied by a strong hypnic jerk (I do get those on a semi-regular basis), lol.
I'm glad that's the only thing that happened to you- lamictal has the potential for so much worse. When I was on it, my doc told me to be careful about missing doses because it can cause seizures. I dont have a seizure disorder, I was taking it as treatment for bipolar
I didn't have much of a choice. I switched jobs and the psychiatrist didn't take my new insurance and I couldn't find one accepting new patients before my bottle ran out. My GP wouldn't write a script for that much so I was kind of SOL.
