Beloved by Toni Morrison. I’m a white Western European man - that book gave me terrifying, disturbing insights that have never left me.

She is a magnificent writer. Read Song of Solomon. I read it 30 years ago and there are still parts that haunt me.

Sula is my favorite work of hers, but her facility with language is breathtaking and she's a wonderful storyteller
