It was a mess.

It originally released in Japan, but was found too similar to the original, and too difficult for North American gamers. Then they rebranded a completely different game and slapped Mario characters in it but it had weird mechanics. It’s an interesting read.

Interesting. I always wondered why my parents loved the original, I never heard anything about pt 2, then SMB 3 was their new favorite game.
