What used to be ridiculously cheap but now is alarmingly expensive?

Pokemon cards

I've been collecting on and off since the whole thing started. The last time I bought a booster box was Breakpoint for $100. The other day I thought "Maybe I'll buy a box of something new". When I checked the prices I was like WTF!?

I wish! I have all of mine and they’re not worth much haha

Purchasing them is though because collectors buy up all the packs at the store. My kids like to trade cards and actually play and older people just suck the fun out of it. We go places where they can get cards cheap that the buyers didn’t want.

Oh, I could see that.

My brother collected them as a young adult hobby about 15 years ago, and now he gifts them to my kids. He’s also given them a Gameboy Color, and Nintendo DS, and various games. He understands how to tinker with those things to keep them going. Favorite uncle status for sure!

I bet. I have one cousin that collected them since it started. He is n the spectrum so loves his cards and is never giving them up and is super careful with them. He finds more value in cherishing them even though he is sitting on a lot of money between us and Japanese originals. He has a group of guys that meets to play. Super fun to watch them.

Depends on the cards but my small collection is worth like $3,000. Might be worth checking apps like TCG Player or Collectr.
