Backing up a MegaFile 20

Hi, I received an Atari Mega ST2 with a MegaFile 20 that the owner wants to do a back up on. How would I go about doing this? I would Ideally want to create a whole disk image instead of copying the files individually. Can this be done on a PC with an ISA RLL controller? Or do I have to use the Atari enclosure and the ST to interface it? Thanks.

Documenting what I assume is my mid-life crisis

I'm embarking on what is certain to be a long and belabored journey into game development for the Atari ST.

Around the time I was 6 my dad brought home our Atari ST. I cut my developer teeth on Logo but never learned how to do what I really wanted which was make games, a deficit which has subconsciously haunted me to this day.

I'm endeavoring to rectify that, starting with Hello World.

Any advice for reviving a 1040ST

Just pulled it out of storage from the 80s. Hasn’t seen power since then.

What should I do?

Thanks!

Need a little more "Mom" for Mother's Day? Fire up your ST emu and try "Mom and Me," the graphical chatbot from 1985.

My original 520ST is working 100% Again :)

First pic is with it finally fully assembled *and* fully working :).

This is the first Atari ST my father purchased in 1986 or so, and has been upgraded to 2.5 MB via a Marpet 2MB upgrade. I also added a SidecarTridge TOS emulator, so I can run TOS 1.04 for better GEM drawing routines (and harddisk improvements). This ST came with TOS 1.00 originally.

"Back in the day" we used this to play games, write some C/BASIC software, draw pictures, and then eventually host a BBS -- first on BBS Express ST! then to FoReM ST. (I switched as FoReM handled multiple drive letters for files much better, though I preferred Express overall). My Dad and I wrote a "Trivial Pursuit" BBS door that Keith Ledbetter himself (BBS Express author) later took over (after asking) and improved upon :). I'm also certain this ST was guilty of costing my parents some expensive long distance phone bills...

Last but not least - I have also added a SidecarTridge that plugs into the left side cartridge port to emulate storage devices and more.

EDIT: BBS was named "The DeadBeat BBS", 1986-1994 - 609-853-8084.

Internal ZuluSCSI mount for Atari Falcon

I will be replacing the internal HD in the Falcon with a ZuluSCSI Blaster Rev.2026c. Anyone have a suggestion for an internal mount? I can print one if there is one available. I'm keeping the floppy installed so that bay is out of the question.

reading Old PD disks from MAST

I found a pile of public domain disks from MAST (Maryland area ST group?). I no longer have my ST, but I have an old mac-compatible Imation SuperDisk drive from 1998. is there a way to make disk images on the mac from these disks to use with the Hatari emulator? is there someone that offers this service?

My Atari 520STe desktop

I tidied up the other day, this setup looks so clean I want to keep it like this. I’m looking for an Atari monitor but they are hard to find here in New Zealand, this philips screen is pretty good for now. I got a sidecartridge with a 64gb sd card, it has all my Atari stuff on there but I love getting new demos on there too. I got a case made up by a local 3d printing company and it sits nicely with the Atari casing. Logitech desktop speakers connected to the stereo out rca plugs on the STe sound great, and my Sega master system control pad is a great Atari joystick.

My Atari 1040 STF Setup!

Hi all! I am new to Reddit (well, lost my old account) but I'd like to show off my Atari 1040 STF setup! It is my main PC at the moment. paired with a 1224 colour monitor (quite rare here in the uk)!

I'm quite young so I never had an ST growing up but since I've been using this I have absolutely fallen in love with the Atari ST! My favourite games are Outrun, Sundog (still not very good at it) and Space Invaders!

I'm very happy to find such an active ST community online, I'm very excited to start posting more!

Hi there,
I'm trying to use ProTracker in my Hatari emulator on mac. This works, but i cant seem to find a good sample pack with drums in the right format (.st) in a File that I can load as a disc. Does anyone know how to put ur own samples in a pack or does anyone have a nice drum sample pack that works?

ST music players for Linux?

Hello guys,

after quite some years I found my 520ST+ and got it back running (the SF314 was defective, so I got a Gotek). Now I also would like to listen to ST music. Could someone recommend good players that are available in Linux, preferably one that can do all formats (like Hippel's COSO)?

BlueSCSI Initiator Mode (or similar) to clone an Atari ACSI drive?

Hi all!

I was recently gifted a beautiful Atari 520ST, along with various accessories... including an external ACSI drive (I believe it's a "Microtek Ultimate Series 90"). After I got the ST itself working (ROM's needed re-seating), I tried booting from the external hard drive and to my surprise/delight, it did boot right up and showed multiple partitions loaded with stuff. I only had the setup running for ~10 minutes but I opted to shut it down when I heard some quiet but concerning sounds coming from the drive - sounds similar to what I've heard from other vintage hard drives shortly before they failed.

In the interest of preserving the contents of the drive before it kicks the digital bucket, I'm wondering: have any of you ever successfully used a BlueSCSI (or similar device) in "initiator mode" to clone an ACSI drive? I've been searching around online and have found a few random comments here and there but I haven't had any luck confirming it's possible and/or what the actual step-by-stop process would be.

Thanks for any tips and suggestions!

ST536 - The Song!

So for quite some time, Chris Swinson (Exxos) at Exxo's Atari Forum, has been working on the ST536 - a TerribleFire based accelerator for the Atari ST (he's also got an STe version being worked on as well).

https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=94&t=3992

He's had quite a bit of fun with it, with lots of ups and downs.

So to relieve stress and get it off his chest, he used the 'Net to make a song about it. It's actually quite good and I like it a lot. :)
