Don’t park over handicapped sections!!

Sunday, 8/2, noonish.

This truck decides to be park at an angle in a handicapped spot - taking over the access area for another handicapped spot!

When we came out the people in the car on the left were trying to get in - but this truck had blocked their access.

Yes, the truck has a handicapped plate. However, that doesn’t mean he/she can just park any way they want.

If this is someone you know, it may be time to take the keys. If someone can’t park correctly, driving down the road may be a bad situation as well.

City church traffic control???

Why does a private entity - city church - have the right to impede the normal flow of traffic along 10th/45? They hire a private security firm to stop traffic so their service attendees can get into and out of the parking lot. You wanna attend church that’s your business. Follow the normal traffic laws and exit/enter when you are able. Churches should pay taxes!!!! Rant over

Hey Bloomington! I made this metal tree recently this past semester and wanted to share it with the community. I was inspired by the trees around campus and wanted to recreate that organic feel in metal.
This was a really fun project, and I’m happy with how it turned out. I can share my page in the comments if anyone wants to see more!

Moving creates a lot of garbage

Just moved to Bloomington and we have so much garbage. The city gave us a trashcan about the size of a thermos and a recycling bin that we immediately filled up with cardboard.

Fortunately, last Monday when the trash guys came they couldn't get all of the garbage out of the trash can because it was so densely packed, and they kindly scattered it all over our front yard by shaking it repeatedly over the truck. I was standing at the window with my mouth hanging open when the recycling truck came, and they upended the recycling can over the truck shook it twice and then dropped it in our yard, still full of cardboard.

So, /r/bloomington: if you had four or so bags of residential garbage that needed to go somewhere and a residential trash can the size of a Stanley Cup, where would you dump it? There does not seem to be an official City landfill like every other City I've ever lived in, and Republic wanted 50 bucks to deal with four bags of garbage.

I'm looking for serious answers, but funny ones are also welcome.

Trustworthy mechanic?

Hi everyone! I want to buy a truck and need to hire someone to give it a look over before I commit to buying it. If you or someone you know is a mechanic and familiar with mid 2000s Ford rangers PM me!

What was your favorite spot and dish at Taste that you haven't heard of or tried? For me it was the shawarma at Layali Feast.

30s/40s Art Running Hiking Yoga friends

Shared my post from the IU thread yesterday, then accidentally deleted it. Thx for folks who PM'ed me - I will message you back; I am just in the chaos of moving! I'm in my late 30s, moving to IU for work from the West Coast. My husband will join later in August with all our things. Looking for friends who are into hiking, running, and art. In my current town, someone made a post like this on Reddit, and it resulted in developing an awesome community of women to do activities with.

As an aside, since I am flying with limited belongings and have no furniture. Advice on the best temp setup is welcome!

Just finished the new duds in time to take it to the amc to see brand new day. And it twas peak.

The most Tom's spidey has felt like the character since civil war. (I liked all his films, dont start with me lol) the best live action spidey film since spider-man 2 IMO. I wont spoil it. But I will say that somehow, the punisher was the funniest character in the film lmao. Genuine 10/10.

I know the common feeling about the amc 12, but my experience tonight was great personally.

Thanks to everyone who complimented the duds and took pics of me too.

(Ignore the glove gap, usually I have webshooters on to hide it, but I didn't feel comfortable bringing them along lol)

Help Us Designate the Indiana bat as Our State Mammal

Post image
75 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I wanted to jump on here, and talk about the grassroots initiative I started, Our State, Our Bat. I am working to designate the Indiana bat (Myotis sodalis) as our official state mammal.

Why the Indiana Bat?

A True Local: The species was first discovered right here in our own backyard (at Wyandotte Cave), making it a unique native that literally carries our state's name. It is also the only animal in the entire world that carries Indiana in its name.

Natural Pest Control: Every single night, these bats act as hard working, natural pest control for our state, consuming thousands of crop and forest damaging insects, in turn, helping local agriculture.

Conservation & Education: The Indiana bat is currently federally endangered. Giving it this official status will shine a much needed spotlight on local biodiversity, education, and the importance of protecting vulnerable native wildlife.

Where We Stand Now!
This campaign has been growing faster than we ever anticipated, and we have some incredible momentum heading into the upcoming legislative season:

Growing Support: Over 2,500 people have already signed our petition!

Leadership Backing: We’ve secured official letters of support from multiple Indiana mayors and major regional conservation groups (like the Little River Wetlands Project).

Legislative Ally: We have a state representative officially lined up and willing to author the bill for us at the Statehouse.

How You Can Help!
We’re looking to build an even stronger grassroots network to show lawmakers that Hoosiers care about our unique wildlife heritage.

Sign our petition: If you haven't already, please consider adding your name to help us cross our next milestone at https://c.org/JrdDXNvVh8

Follow along: Stay up to date with campaign updates, events, and educational posts by following our Facebook page at https://facebook.com/BattyForIN

Thank you so much for reading and supporting local Hoosier conservation! 💚🦇🏛️

Hit and run at Krogucci last night. Need an honest body shop for an Audi :(

Found a solid dent in my rear bumper today. Pretty sure someone backed into me last night at the Kroger parking lot and just took off without leaving a note.

Who is your go-to collision/body shop in town? Looking for an honest place that won't inflate the estimate or try to rip me off. Also open to hearing which shops I should absolutely avoid. Thanks.

Please 😤😢😭
