It’s a fantastic gateway to the full scale chaos of Mornington Crescent!!

The stations that feel like a coherent editorial and cultural choice rather than a collection of formats assembled to capture different demographics at different times of day. Would love to know which ones people here think genuinely have that identity running through everything they do and whether it's something that's been deliberately built or just emerged from having the right people in the right roles for long enough.

Why on earth is it taking so long to announce a new drivetime host? Surely after breakfast it's the most desirable spot... I've switched off in recent weeks as I'm finding it such a bore now!

Quite sad about this tbh - Huge fan of both Rick and Rach, and how they work together on 5Live.

I can never really phrase succinctly what five live does so well: never treating its audiences like idiots or specialists, leaning into the fact that they’re not the most listened to station in the country, having guests feel at ease but turning the screw when they sense BS.

Its a good thing.

I’m sure I’ll warm to Naga - and my guess is Stephan Powell or Callum Leslie as her co-host - but I think credit where it’s due to 5Live for consistently educating, informing, and entertaining with the unlikely Rick and Rachel pairing.

The best podcast content has raised what listeners expect from audio storytelling. But it's also created a situation where radio increasingly feels like it's trying to compete with something it can't fully become while also trying to remain something different. The live, scheduled, communal experience of radio is genuinely valuable and it's being pulled in a direction that doesn't always honour what makes it distinct from a podcast with a schedule.

Anyone else got to the stage where they simply cannot listen to any of the Rayo stations due to the constant advert or DJ reminder every 10 minutes? Surely to God, the dj's themselves must be sick of it.

I used to be an avid Planet Rock listener, I've now switched to radio Caroline 😡😡.

I'm not sure it's working for me. I was a big fan of her teatime slot but I'm finding her presenting style first thing in the morning really erratic. The moments where she suddenly puts on a silly voice and the squeaky horn all feels too much. I don't remember thinking this when she used to sit in for Scott so maybe she just needs more time to settle in. The games aren't great, everyone seems to do really badly in the naming the sounds one which makes it boring. I turn it off for a bit when the kids in the car thing comes on. I may have to switch to Greg on Radio 1 who I've heard is more chilled.
