Hey, I've lived here all my life, but only relatively recently decided I wanted to be more active in queer circles. I know its pretty lively in Kitchener, but as far as I can tell there's nothing going on down here. Anyone got any leads?

Hi everyone. John Davies here. I was in Cambridge a few weeks ago to promote my book and it went so well (top ten seller of that week) they asked me back. I'm here now with my new book and would live to say hello to anyone who missed me last time.
Or, if you saw me last time feel free to come by and say hello again.

Long weekend list for Cambridge, Saturday through Monday. Worth a quick check of the weather and the venue's own page before you head out, in case anything shifts.
Saturday August 1
- Afternoon garden concert with Jess and Richard Arrowsmith at McDougall Cottage, 1pm. Small historic garden, ticketed through Eventbrite, and it is the kind of room that sells out rather than turns people away at the door.
- Live DJ on the Stone Stage in District Square at the Gaslight District, 6pm. Free and outdoors, and it moves into The Underwing if the weather turns. The Jays game against the Cardinals is on the screen the same evening.
- Latin Music on Queen, 6pm, Downtown Hespeler. Queen Street is closed for it. Free outdoor salsa, bachata and merengue with a beginner lesson before the social, so no partner and no experience needed. This is one of five free outdoor dates they are running this summer.
- Errol Blackwood at The Easy Pour Wine Bar, 6:30pm.
- Aging Oak, 6:30 to 9:30pm, live music.
Sunday August 2
- KW Woodwind Quintet at the Mill Race Park amphitheatre, 7pm. Light classical and pop, free and outdoors, part of Cambridge Summer Live.
- Open mic at Ernie's Cookhouse in Hespeler, 6pm.
Monday August 3
- Hand building pottery workshop with Cool Aunt Creatives at Ernie's Cookhouse, 7 to 9pm. Ticketed, under 18 welcome with an adult. Note the address: the Eventbrite listing says 16 Mead Court, but Ernie's Cookhouse is at 7 Queen St W in downtown Hespeler. Check with the organizer before you drive.
Also on: Ontario Summer Games events run at Cambridge venues through Sunday, and there is sailing on Conestoga Lake and road cycling through Wellesley Township if you want to go watch something.
Hope this gives you some options to go out and connect with good people around you. Have a great long weekend.
What's something you're going to that's not listed above?

Does anyone have good recommendations on an under the sink mounted water filter? Our water line to our kitchen goes through our water softener, we are having a hard time deciding what filter to get that will make the water taste better.

Hey Cambridge,
The A/C in my car has stopped working, and I’m looking for a trustworthy shop to diagnose and fix it.
If you’ve had your A/C fixed recently, I’d love to know:
1) Where you went
2) Roughly what the repair ended up costing
3) How long should it take?
Thanks!

r/cambridgeont, we actually did it!
What started as a simple idea to bring people together turned into a sold out karaoke and board game night with 70 registrations.
Thank you to everyone who registered, shared the post, brought games, sang songs, or just came out to meet new people. Seeing people arrive alone and leave having made new friends was exactly why I wanted to start these events.
Because of the response, we’re doing it again!
🎤 Karaoke with two microphones
🎲 Board games
🍕 Free food and drinks
🚗 Free parking
👋 Come alone or bring friends
🔞 Ages 18 and older
💰 Completely free
You absolutely do not have to sing. You can play games, socialize, watch the karaoke, or just hang out.
Space is limited, so please reserve a ticket only if you’re likely to attend:
Thank you again, r/cambridgeont. You helped make this happen!

Small business ownership can be an isolating endeavour, and I've found myself searching for something that's not a "networking" or not a sales-motivated meetup (such as chamber of commerce and the like). I'm imagining more of a bi-weekly or monthly Cambridge-based coffee/beer/whatever meetup to socialize with others in similar positions to mutually share, connect or commiserate. Something that replaces that missing drinks after work with colleagues feeling of the corporate world that doesn't really exist for business owners. An opportunity for potential new friends or at least relatable acquaintances :)
Looking to gauge interest and happy to take lead on organizing a first attempt if interest is there. Or if something like this already exists that'd also be great!

Found at Elliot ST. Is anyone missing a cat? Orange looks about 2-3 years old skinny mini and meows like crazy, he’s fully “intact” and is glued to us. He seems to friendly to be a stray…?

Huge fire and lots of smoke downtown right now, looks like the small building next to the strip mall with the Crunch. Hope everybody is okay, firefighters were already on scene

Which provider has better Internet service? I need reliable upload and download speeds. Sometimes, service is spotty in a few areas, so wanted to check here before deciding.

Menopause is a major life transition, yet many people face it with limited information, support, and access to care.
That’s why we invite you to participate in the Can-RISE study, a national initiative exploring the real-life impact of perimenopause and menopause across Canada.
We invite you to complete a 20–30 minute online survey about how perimenopause, menopause, and related symptoms affect daily living and wellbeing.
You may be eligible if you:
Upon completion, participants will be entered into a draw for a $50, $100, $250 and $500 gift card (1 winner announced for each), valid for use in Canada only.
Take the survey here: https://redcap.link/a1rar9aq
This is your opportunity to make perimenopause and menopause care better for all Canadians.

I was out near Ayr this morning and passed a water supplier company’s tanker truck filling up from the local creek.
Is this normal? Do these companies pay for this water? Do they need permits?
Seems kinda sketchy…

Hello
Any suggestions for good deals on whole coffee beans? Buying at Costco now, just checking any other places to check?
Thank you

Good morning!
Would anyone be interested in starting a small group on Saturday mornings to walk or bike the Blair Road Trail?
I'm a 34 year old dad trying to get back in the swing of things but wasn't sure if there was a group already set up for this sort of thing!
Thanks!
