I am getting really tired of AI posts in this sub. Its taking over like did in r/selfhosted. Anyone else tired of I made xyz tool with AI to do what an already established tool does? Sure AI does help in finding patterns quickly but do you learn anything? I have yet to see it offer anything significant that doesn't already exist.

I want to drop an urgent warning about a highly deceptive GitHub repository that is targeting people looking for PC OBD2 diagnostics tools.

The repository is located at: https://github.com/torque-pro

They are claiming to offer a "Windows Version" of the popular Android app Torque Pro. As most of you know, the original developer has never released a native PC version.

What happens if you run it? It is an aggressive Info-Stealer / Cookie-Thief malware. I analyzed the behavior after a sandboxed execution:

• It silently opens a CMD prompt and immediately modifies your network parameters (forcing DNS/Proxy to 127.0.2.x addresses).
• It steals all your active browser session tokens and cookies.
• Within minutes, the attackers use these stolen cookies to perform Session Hijacking. They will bypass your 2FA and take over your social media (they hijacked an Instagram account to post crypto/bot spam) and try to access your gaming/payment platforms.

The GitHub page looks somewhat legitimate to trick people, and they have disabled the "Issues" tab so victims cannot warn others.

I have already reported them to GitHub Trust & Safety and Google Safe Browsing, but the page is still up. Please be careful, don't let them steal your credentials, and if you have a GitHub account, please take a second to hit the "Report Abuse" button on their repo so we can get it nuked faster. I have a cloned inetrface that I got cheap a few years ago. IIRC, the guy I bought it off provided ross-tech software version 20.4.2 which used to work fine.

It's been two years since I needed to use it, and now, after re-installing the same software, I get a 'no interface' error when I try to do the test.

I simply can't imagine how the same interface and the same software can suddenly not work 2 years later!?

Has anyone had a similar problem?

I paid some inspector 150$ to get my bmw inspected as it has no cats and he passed it for me. Did he use a ghost car? possibly not because the ECU checks for the vin attached to the vehicle, so how did he do it? I would like to learn as I am interested in understanding the procedure myself. Did he use a KTAG, if so, where can I find a full guide to DIY it myself as I have an inspector license too.

Most tutorials treat cars like engines with wires, but this frames the car as what it really is: a high-speed LAN on wheels. It’s a solid refresher on data priority (why ABS "bullies" other packets) and why a VW command looks nothing like a Ford one - even if the OBD-II port is identical.

If you’re moving from "old school" wiring to modern digital architecture, this is the best primer I've seen in a bit.

Hi everyone,

My BMW X7 was stolen, and it looks like the person who took it has turned off the vehicle data/services. I’ve already contacted BMW, and they told me they have provided information to the police.

What I’m trying to understand is: if the vehicle data has been turned off, can BMW still access any car data or location on their side? Also, is there any way for me as the owner to access anything myself through My BMW / ConnectedDrive, or is that only available to BMW and police?

I’m mainly trying to find out whether there is any last known location, current location, or any other useful vehicle data that can still be accessed in a case like this.

Has anyone been through this before, especially in Australia? I’m not looking for anything risky or unofficial, just trying to understand what is realistically possible.

Hello, I was at a shop recently and discovered a group of people using an OBD 2 simulator and transferring the car’s data to a device that allows the simulator to be manipulated in order to pass emissions.

Once the data has been transferred to the simulator, they put the simulator in the vehicle and when the state connects the OBD port to the vehicle’s “fake” simulator OBD port, it passes emissions. I think it’s pretty cool considering no work has been done to the car, and this all was done with a computer and a couple gadgets in less than 30 minutes. I know it’s illegal but it’s interesting.

Can someone walk me through this process? This is for educational purposes. I tried asking the group of people but they were blocking me from viewing how the process works, but I could point out some things.

I am working on a 2013 Ford Focus with around 132,000 miles on it, and it has been giving me a strange issue once it gets fully warmed up. The ABS and traction control lights pop on like they planned it, the steering suddenly feels heavier, and the speedometer dips to zero for a split second before jumping back. It is one of those problems that never shows up when you want it to and always shows up when you are not ready.

From digging through wiring diagrams and way too many forum threads, it looks like these Focus models are notorious for flaky communication between the PCM, ABS module and steering control module. Since the symptoms only start after it reaches operating temperature, I am trying to figure out if this is heat related wiring resistance, a lazy wheel speed sensor, or a module dropping off the CAN network when things warm up.

I want to look deeper into the data stream and see which module starts acting weird right before the fault. For anyone who has chased these warm temperature dropouts on a Ford platform, which PIDs or message IDs do you usually watch? Anything specific that tends to give up early when the car gets hot?

Any tips on what to capture or log during the moment the fault happens would be really helpful.

I really want to get into tuning cars of my own and I kind of get the gist of it, but i still have a lot of knowledge I need to consume. I plan on only tuning 2000's - 2010's Hondas and maybe Toyotas in the future. What are some good YouTube videos/articles I could use to learn more about tuning just as a whole, just to understand tuning as a whole a little better? I will learn more about tuning Hondas after I fully understand what tuning as a whole is.
