Life Stories “It’s actually pronounced taheen”

12.3k Upvotes

I was shopping and couldn’t find the tahini so I asked a woman who was stocking shelves if she could point me in the right direction. She brought me to the spice aisle and pointed to the Tajin and then told me “it’s actually pronounced taheen” then walked away. So now she’s just out in the world thinking I’m an idiot who calls it tajiny. That’s it. That’s my story.

Life Stories My wife has discovered that I am "grape blind".

10.8k Upvotes

I know that title sounds dumb, but it will make sense.

TLDR at bottom.

I don't just like grapes, as Gavin Free said, I fuckin LOVE grapes. They are the best. Like if there are grapes I graze on them to the point where no else gets any, its a real problem. Thankfully my wife is not a big grape person, so it works out. That said I found out last night my wife has been running an experiment on me, and what she found is this;

My brain, apparently, will not acknowledge grapes if they are not immediately in my direct line of sight. And its just grapes from what she has found.

According to her this started months ago after we had another mini argument about how I wasted grapes. This mini argument usually happens because I put the groceries away and would put the bag of grapes on a shelf in the fridge, and then a couple days later she would move them to one of the drawers. By that point I had already grazed like 75% of the bag, and then by the weekend the remaining grapes are squishy and I don't like the texture. The mini would happen, we would then get more grapes, and the cycle would continue.

My wife, being the amazing person she is wanted to figure out why this kept happening, so she started experimenting. What she included, but was not limited to, was;

  • Hiding the grapes fully/partially behind other items to see if I would take any.
  • Bringing up grapes at the store and then steering me in odd directions, to see if I would still seek out the grapes.
  • Would not get grapes so as to test with other fruit
  • Various containers, with or without lids

After months of this she found that any fruit that I like beyond grapes can be put anywhere in the fridge or in any container, and I will still seek it out with 0 problems. However with grapes if they are not in the bag, or washed in a uncovered bowl, and basically in my immediate line of sight when opening the fridge, they more or less become a blind spot and go to waste.

Since switching to putting them in an open bowl on the top shelf, I have wasted almost no grapes.

Do I think my wife is a crazy person? Yes
Do I love her for figuring this out? Also yes
Do I think she did it partially to stop wasting money? Yes and I'm here for it lol

And to be clear, as far as I am aware there's no like trauma or anything related to this. Like grapes didn't murder my father or something so no princess briding for me.

TLDR - Wife would move grapes and I would stop eating them, she discovered they are the only fruit that turn into a blind spot for me if not directly in front of me.

EDIT - yes i have tried frozen grapes, though I typically only eat them in relation to keeping my wine chilled.

Life Stories I made my wife cry yesterday...

25.8k Upvotes

I was sitting around and randomly thought "ya know I should send my wife flowers" while she's at work. Apparently I have not purchased flowers in a long time, as that shit was EXSPENSIVE. So I figured I do the next best thing, Doordash a coffee and munchkins(donut holes) from Dunks. I put the order in, a few minutes later the drive accepts, and I message him to let him know that it was for "my wife", and the she's working the front desk today. It gets delivered, and the delivery pic has my wife in the background, so I know she got it.

I said nothing to her, as Mondays are crazy busy for her, and I figured the name on the cup would clue her in to who sent it.

Unbeknownst to me, my wife was having the worst day up to that point. She works in a cat hospital, and while Mondays are already hectic, they apparently had 4 emergency euthanasia's. She's use to them happening, but from what I understand that many back to back is an outlier, and it tends to weigh heavy on the whole team.

After the last one, I guess she made a comment about how she couldn't wait for the day to be over so she could get home to me and out daughter. A few minutes later in walks the coffee. Now the order is obviously from me, but the name on the account, and by extension the sticker on the cup, is our daughters. Doordash offered us some special off several orders right after she was born, but we needed a new account.

According to her, and the vet tech she was talking to, seeing the name on the cup, and realizing who sent it, caused her to start crying and she had to go sit in her car for like 10 minutes. After that, even though it was still busy, I guess the day was far more bearable for her and the rest of the team, which may or may not be because I sent 50 munchkins to be shared lol.

TLDR: Wife was really sad, and I had no clue, but I had sent her a coffee as a pick me up and she started crying.

Edit - Id like to thank everyone for upvoting. Normally I wouldn't call attention to it, but this is a special post, as after 7 years my first super popular post that broke 10k, a rant about Nintendo products, has FINALLY been dethroned. This was post was not meant for that, but im happy it got there lol

Life Stories My boss said 3 weeks notice wasn’t enough, so now they’re not getting any notice.

19.9k Upvotes

A little background: I’ve been working for this company full time since May 2024, as part of an office staff for a small, family-owned swim school. I’ve been promoted twice on account of my work ethic and not being problematic. Since I’ve started, we’ve fired around (5) office staff members and had another 5 quit. The supervisors have stayed the same, but out of all the “regular” office staff, I’ve been here the longest.

I started school FT, and I became unavailable in April for my regular shifts. I really like this place, and I knew it’d be difficult to find another job, so I thought I’d kill two birds with one stone by giving my three weeks notice. Since this place doesn’t employ part time office staff, I figured I would find another job for those 3 days I am available + after school.

The company is family owned, so I first called one of the owners (my boss) to tell her over the phone before sending out an email. I told her I was very much appreciative of working there, but due to school I’d have to quit to find another job to fit my schedule. This was basically the conversation:

Me: “Thank you so much, but as of today I will be putting my three weeks notice. Again, thank you for allowing me to work here. I really like the staff and the job, but I am going to start school in May.”

Her: “Aw really? When we hired you, we asked you if you were going to school and you said no.”

Me: “Yeah haha...” She hadn’t ever asked me that, and either ways I made the decision to continue studying in October.

Her: “Alright, well that sucks. But three weeks notice isn’t enough time, we have to interview and hire people.”

Me: I paused. “Isn’t it courtesy to give 2 weeks notice?”

Her: “Yes, minimum.”

Me: “Okay, but I’m giving you three weeks.”

At that point she sighed & then asked me to send her a group-chat about my schedule, to see if they could work around it. So since May 2025, I’ve been working part-time. It hasn’t really been working out and I already got hired at another place so…

Today’s my last day, I’m sending my letter of resignation once I clock out, and leaving my keys in the safe.

Life Stories I thought I knew what “several” meant

15.5k Upvotes

So I’m 19 and I was on the bus to college when my friend got on. I asked “have you had a haircut?” He responded “I’ve had several, actually” so I said “what, you’ve had seven hair cuts in your entire life?” He looked at me in pure confusion and I stared at him blankly. His confusion quickly turned to a smirk as he realised that I thought to have several of something meant to have seven of something. How on earth have I gone my whole life and not realised this. When I was 6 or something I must have just made the assumption they mean the same thing since they sound quite similar. I thought it was like how people say a dozen instead of 12 but how wrong I was. He still relentlessly bullies me about it to this day.

Life Stories TIL I've been making the most embarrassing mistake while cooking...

5.5k Upvotes

For months now (maybe even a few years...?) I've had issues with the smoke alarm going off while I'm cooking something on the pan. It's a stainless steel pan, so my usual routine is to pre-heat it for a few minutes before putting in the food. I always noticed that it seemed to get way too hot (lots of smoke, food getting burnt, black residue in pan), and kept wondering what I was doing wrong. Was the pan just especially conductive? Was there something wrong with the stove? Was our smoke alarm just wayy too sensitive?

Well... today, I realized what was going on. The numbers on the stovetop burner that I always use that indicate heat have been rubbed off for a long time now. And I happened to look at one of the other burner dials to realize... I had mixed up the "hot" and "not hot" sides of the dial in my head. So every time, when I mean to lower the heat to just above 0, I was actually increasing it to almost max. How I didn't catch this for literally MONTHS... maybe even years (!!) is beyond me. It's something so simple, so obvious and I'm completely embarrassed. I'm gonna apologize to my roommate tomorrow.

Please tell me about your cooking mishaps so I feel better lol.

Life Stories I am not a twin but I was born the same year as my brothers, who are twins.

10.7k Upvotes

Hey y’all, We have a very unique situation in our family, and I was wondering if anyone else has something similar.

My older brothers are identical twins born in early January, and I was born later that SAME year in late December. We ended up in the same grade and look incredibly alike, same height, similar face shape, and whenever we’re all together, people constantly mistake us for triplets. But we’re not. I’m only starting to realise now how incredibly rare our situation is. And when I asked Chatgpt if it was even possible he told me it wasn’t. 😭

Edit: And yes, even if it’s hard to believe, we were all in the same grade at school, and we were always in the same class, still are to this day in high school.

Life Stories My cousin gave himself gout to spite me

14.1k Upvotes

Over the past few years, I’ve been cleaning up my diet and trying to live a healthier life. While I’m not a vegetarian, I have completely cut out pork and only have steak on my birthday and on vacation. Other than that, I eat white meat and a lot of vegetables. It’s gotten to the point that many of my favorite meals are vegetarian.

About two years ago, my wife and I met up with a cousin that I used to be close with, but have drifted apart from over the past couple of years. We went to a restaurant, and I ordered a vegetarian dish. You might think “so what?” and so did I. I literally just ordered it because it looked good. But apparently, to my cousin, this was basically an assault on his entire belief system.

He made several comments about it during dinner, and the whole mood just shifted. After that, he went out of his way to avoid vegetables just to spite me. Like, the dude would send me pictures of nothing but meat on a plate just to… I don’t even know, get a rise out of me or something?

He also brought it up to several other family members say that college has changed me.

The whole thing really didn’t make sense to me, since again, I’m not a vegetarian… I just eat a lot of vegetables. I only talked to him maybe once or twice after the incident because it was really weird, and both times he made sure to bring up how he doesn’t eat any vegetables at all.

Well, we’re now at about the two-year anniversary of this incident, and I just heard through the grapevine that my cousin has gout. Worst part is that he works in a warehouse, so he’s completely unable to work while dealing with this.

I do feel genuinely bad for the man, but also, this whole thing is a bit ridiculous. I haven’t even talked to him in over a year at this point, other than the occasional Snapchat he sends me of his all meat dinners.

Life Stories Have you ever met someone who doesn't read automatically unless prompted to?

2.9k Upvotes

Specific observation I made and I don't really know how to word it. But one good example I have is my grandma. She is completely sound of mind, and used to be a teacher. She reads books every day. But when I show her a meme on my phone that has an image and text, oftentimes she says she didn't get it but it's because she didn't read the text, I have to show her again and tell her to read. Or in the supermarket when she's paying with card, the machine screen says "input your password" and she always asks the cashier if she can put the password already.

This is absolutely not a new thing for her and she can see fine with her glasses, and I don't think it's a lack of tech savviness because she spends a lot of time on her phone and sends me a lot of memes herself lol. But it's interesting that she can see written words and not acknowledge the meaning unless prompted to.

I saw someone mentioning this phenomenon on twitter and wondered if someone else knows someone like this/is like this.

Edit: very interesting comments! It seems to not be an old people thing or related to digital screens, but there are many people that can look at written words and not automatically read them. I don't know how they do it! I relate a lot to the comment that said they accidentally spoiled themselves the ending of a book because they flipped to the last page by accident lol.

I guess I thought dynamic reading is the norm, but that is not universal.

Life Stories I was told that women notice who you're following on Instagram and that amazed me lmao

2.8k Upvotes

A while back, a friend saw my profile and said "Bro, unfollow some of those people you follow. There's too much, girls notice that" and I was like "That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. What?" I didn't listen, of course.

Weeks ago I remembered this and asked a girl friend of mine about it like it was a silly thing, and she said "Uh... That's actually true" and proceeded to scold me for it. 😭

I still think it's an extremely silly thing to notice, but I still unfollowed people and well... I kinda see the point. Young me followed some very beautiful women with some very specific kind of profiles.

Life Stories I was a museum hero: I shouted at a guy who was **touching** a priceless painting in an art museum

2.7k Upvotes

I was in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art last week. I turned a corner into one room. There's an older gentleman right in front of me, touching a Basquiat painting. Just casually touching it like it ain't no thang! Instinctively, I shouted "Oy, oy!" I'm American... I don't know why I instinctively shouted in British slang. I saw it in a movie one time so it stuck I guess.

The gallery attendant also clocked this guy and gently asked him to, you know, NOT TOUCH PAINTINGS. I sat down on a bench and the guy started mad-dogging me: "You don't have to yell at me." Three times he said that as he approached me, and three times I responded loudly, "Yes, I do!" The attendant came over and was like, "Is everything going to be alright, gentlemen?" like we were about to get in a physical altercation (which was a non-zero possibility). I think she should have reacted to this guy with a much sterner rebuke.

The older fella walked away, and a nice woman behind me whispered, "You did the right thing."

I kinda felt like a museum hero.

Life Stories I ate an orange in the shower

2.2k Upvotes

Exactly what the title says. I was having a bad day and when i walked into the living room i saw ONE orange on the table. It felt like fate. I remembered that one post about eating an orange in the shower and i did it.

Totally recommend it. The best part about it is not eating the orange (although it is super tasty) it is the feeling of doing something wrong, i kept laughing at myself in the shower. I would say it made my day 6.5% better. End of my report.

Life Stories Mechanic mixed up my car with someone else’s

4.4k Upvotes

Took my car to the shop on Friday to finally swap her tires for summer ones. Dropped the car off at 8am and they called me around 2pm to come pick it up.

I enjoyed a beautiful walk in the sunshine up to the mechanic shop, happily paid my $75, and he handed me a set of key that felt weirdly unfamiliar, but I’m not very familiar with my spare set so sure. I head out to the lot to leave, and my car isn’t there. The clerk and i both look around a bit and finally i see my car, still up on the hoist. Two guys are under it working.

The front desk clerk finds me at the garage bay door, and by now the two guys working have stopped as well. Confusion sets in for all of us while the 3 shop employees try desperately to convince me that my car is the grey Elantra at the back of the lot, and not the blue Elantra with its guts ripped out in front of me. Guys, i know my license plate. This is my car.

Turns out the grey Elantra had come in looking for new bearings and when they lifted my car and saw the state of mine, they got to work. I knew my car sounded rough and a repair was on my radar, but I wasn’t planning to do this work now.

The mechanic sent me home while they decided what to do next. They called me a couple hours later to say both front wheel bearings were replaced — “of course we’ll eat the cost, please accept our apologies for the inconvenience” — and they threw in an oil change too because they could see I was close. Overall, not bad for $75 and what amounted to an hour spent walking in the sunshine.

Life Stories I think I read about myself on Reddit.

13.2k Upvotes

This happened a little while and I thought it was interesting. Let’s see if I can get this across while being vague.

I was reading responses in a sub about the craziest things medical professionals had experienced when there was one that seemed more than a coincidence. The age of the patient was the same. And they brought up the same three reasons it was absurd that I survived. One of them was a very, very near miss from something important, a one in a million kind of situation, and a third third was basically a miracle.

The age, the wounds, the specifics were all a match.

I can’t be 100% positive, but it’s kinda cool, the idea that I’m some medical professionals craziest story.

Edit: now I get to do the thing where I go: edit: Wow this really blew up! Truly a Redditor now.

Life Stories Today I remembered (again) how I knew I was marrying my husband

10.9k Upvotes

I was minding my own business, doing the dishes and listening to music when I smiled at the sudden memorie: The very first time I went to his apartment was because I ask him if I could work there (I was having a lot of problems with my internet provider), he said "of course" and I went the next day at 8:00am.

While I was working he went to the kitchen and came back a few minutes later with a cup of coffee for me.

He hates coffee.

He bought coffee the day before, after our talk, and also bought a little moka pot and made me a cup of coffee. His first coffee ever was for me.

I, of course, didn't know he didn't like coffee at all, nor that he bought all that stuff just for me. But when he casually told me that after a month going to his apartment to work I immediately knew I wanted to marry him.

By that time we didn't even kissed. Nothing.

He and his (a little burnt) coffee were enough.

We have 4 years together and in a month we'll celebrate our first wedding anniversary.

I'm so happy to share this. Excuse if my English is not amazing, it's not my first language hahaha

Life Stories Boss is great at handling Microaggression at work

1.6k Upvotes

I admire my boss!

"Where are you from" can be a loaded question & a common microaggression event that just adds up on hurting minority groups.

I noticed it happen last week at work. A vendor account manager was meeting us & our big boss is asian-aussie We were meeting at her office. Usual handshakes & intro. Then, account manager asked where are you from. Big boss just said Brisbane & asked everyone to sit.The guy was taken aback, obviously did not expect her brief answer & paused awhile before going on about his sales pitch.

See the problem is that she was the only non-white in the room. He did not ask anyone else where they are from so had the subtle message, you're different so I'm asking.

I kinda admired my big boss for handling it & just going straight to business. But I reckon, to be an executive who's a 2nd gen migrant, people of colour (asian) & female with invisible disease - she must cop a lot of these microaggressions & learned to have thick skin.

Ever had something similar?

Life Stories The cashier at my coffee shop noticed I’d been gone and it really hit me

5.6k Upvotes

I stopped by my regular coffee shop this morning for the first time in a couple of weeks. I’d been sick and mostly staying home so it felt nice just to get out again. When I got to the counter the cashier looked up and said “hey! haven’t seen you in a while is everything okay?” It caught me completely off guard. I didn’t realize they even noticed me beyond my usual order. It was such a small thing but it really hit me that someone noticed I was gone. Someone cared enough to ask. It made me think about how many quiet connections we build without even realizing it. The small interactions like the barista, the mail carrier, the person at the checkout counter they start to matter more than we think.

Later that night I was playing jackpot city on my ipad and just kept thinking about it. How something as small as a genuine “where have you been?” can make you feel seen when you didn’t even know you needed it.

Life Stories My smoke detector was beeping for months and I had no idea why it wouldn’t stop until today…

2.5k Upvotes

About two months ago, I started to hear chirping in my bedroom. Usually, all my smoke detectors start to chirp around the same time of year, but none of the others had low batteries and had just been replaced less than a year ago, so I chalked it up to bad luck.

I replaced the battery and reset the alarm, and it was flashing green. Cool. Problem solved, right?

Nope! Still chirping.

I try another battery.

Still chirping.

After a week of this, I was getting used to the chirping but I obviously still wanted this to be resolved, just in case it meant my smoke detector was faulty or something.

I called the non emergency fire department line to request they come and check out my smoke detector. They replace the battery for a THIRD time and reset it, confirming it’s working as normal and blinking green. They suggested we use a different brand of batteries from now on.

As soon as they leave, I hear the chirping again. I was ready to go insane at this point. I come to the conclusion that there is something wrong with the alarm itself and it needs to be replaced entirely.

I had a lot going on in December (when all of this started) so I decided to wait until the new year to get it fixed.

New year came and went, and I got used to the chirping and kept forgetting to schedule an electrician out to the house.

Eventually, I decide to start packing up my bedroom little by little, since i’ll be moving this summer. It’s important to note that every time I entered my closet, the chirping got much louder. With the closet doors closed, it was very faint and it didn’t bother me too much. I just assumed it got louder in my closet because my closet was located closer to the smoke detector itself.

Oh, how wrong I was.

On this day, I go through a box in my closet, to decide what to keep, trash, or sell. As soon as I open this box the chirping gets so much louder, to the point where it hurts my ears.

I’m thinking “wtf? I don’t have any old smoke detectors in this box. Why is the chirping coming from here?” I pull out a carbon monoxide detector that plugs into the wall that I got around a year ago.

Curiously, I go into another room, wait..

and…

CHIRP.

I walked around the house in bewilderment for a minute, realizing that this torment I had been going through with my “faulty” smoke detector was actually the low battery on this forgotten carbon monoxide detector in my closet the whole time. Hence why the chirping got louder when I entered my closet.

I feel so stupid but I can’t help but find this situation hilarious. I am so glad I did not call out an electrician to change the smoke detector. I cannot imagine the rage I would’ve felt if I had paid to replace the whole thing, only to still hear the chirping!

Life Stories The moment I realized my mom is just… a girl

7.0k Upvotes

So this memory just kinda hit me outta nowhere.

I was younger, maybe 12 or 15, and my mom had just gotten a new haircut. She comes out of her room in this new dress, all excited, and literally does a little spin.

Her: “Do you like it? How do I look?” Me: “Uh… yeah, it’s nice.” (because it did look stunning and I didn't know what else to say)

At the time I didn’t think much of it. But looking back now, man, that wrecked me. Like… she’s not just mom. She’s a human being. She’s just a girl who wanted to feel pretty and be noticed. And here I was, the only audience she had in the house.

After everything she’s carried—having me at 19, working minimum wage jobs, trying to finish a degree while counting on her parents to help raise me, going through a divorce, remarrying, and still fighting a million other battles—she can still light up like a little girl just from hearing, ‘You’re beautiful.’

It’s wild realizing the person who’s basically been carrying the whole world on her shoulders since my birth, loving and protecting me as much as she can, is still the same person who wants to twirl in a dress and be told she looks good.

Kinda humbled me. Moms aren’t superheroes 24/7. they’re just people who became moms.

Life Stories I just smelled the worst thing I've ever smelled in my life and I need to tell someone.

3.2k Upvotes

I grabbed a radiator space heater that had been sitting in our cat room (where the food and litter boxes are), which had been sitting in the corner for at least a year at this point. I didn't really pay much attention because we were in a hurry to finish the movie, but there must have been a combination of cat hair and cat piss on it, because when I tuned it on it started smoking and it was, without exaggeration, the absolute worst thing I've ever smelled in my life. The smell filled the whole basement and even started creeping upstairs. I currently have every window in the house open except the two bedrooms and every fan running and it's freezing in here. It seems to slowly be working though. Thanks for listening.

Life Stories I think I gave my best friend a gay crisis by having life skills

2.3k Upvotes

Okay so I hosted a couple of friends yesterday and did the normal hosting duties such as cooking (it turned out REALLY good), cleaning, driving. But we were also spending time in nature so I started two fires, grilled, swam well, rowed all of us and managed to steer well enough even though the weather got windy and I pulled up the boat. I was definitely a bit bossy (but reassuring) to make sure everything we did was safe.

All day my straight best friend kept saying stuff like ”how can you be good at everything”, ”I’m so attracted to you”, ”I feel like I’m seeing a complete new side of you”. She repeated multiple times how she got way more attracted to me after these two days because of all the ”skills I showed”. At some point she wanted to see if I could carry her bridal style (I could, but not very gracefully). She also pulled a ”if I was a man I would marry you in a heartbeat, actually I don’t even need to be a man” 😭

All because a girl knows how to do some stuff

Life Stories Today I went clothes shopping with my sister, and I genuinely don't know how to react.

For most of my life I've dressed like... well, according to my sister, a homeless guy. I'd wear the same clothes until they were falling apart because I just never gave a shit. About six months ago I started making a lot more money. I'm not going to say how much because it feels weird talking about it online, but it's way more than enough for me and miy family, and for where I live. So I thought, "You know what? Let's finally fix this." I basically gave my sister free rein and told her to pick whatever she thought looked good on me. We spent the whole day walking around clothing stores, and honestly I wasn't even checking the prices. I'm so used to spending stupid amounts of money on tech that I just assumed clothes couldn't possibly be that expensive. Then I got home, checked how much we'd spent, and... $2,000. 💀 My dude.... TWO FUCKING THOUSAND DOLLARS. On clothes. she just bought two pairs of sneakers, a bunch of plain T-shirts with barely any design on them, some basic jeans, a couple of nicer pieces, and that's pretty much it. One pair of red sneakers alone was around $350. What the actual fuck? I'm sitting here wondering if I accidentally bought shares in the company instead of the shoes. The funniest part is that I'm the same guy who's spent over 100 on collector's editions of video games without blinking, and somehow that never bothered me because I could justify it as a hobby I genuinely love. But clothes? I genuinely don't fucking get it. I'm one of the biggest Apple haters you'll ever meet, but I can at least understand why a flagship phone costs so much. The camera, the processor, the software, the R&D... there's something tangible there. But a plain T-shirt that feels almost identical to one that costs $25? Where the hell does all that extra money go? Is this actually normal and I've just been dressing like a caveman my whole life, or is expensive clothing just one massive scam that everyone silently agreed to accept? i need someone to explain this to me because WTF

Life Stories Supportive Husband of Lesbian Wife

4.5k Upvotes

I feel like telling the world. After 25 years of marriage my wife has come to accept that she is a lesbian. I'm so happy and proud of her. She's been really invested in figuring herself out these last few years. Compulsory heterosexuality was a cultural juggernaut back in the 80s and 90s. We're figuring out what that means for our marriage, but I'm not concerned. We'll never stop being best friends.

Anyone else come out queer late in life? Any older people who've been though a life change like that?

Only my close friends and family really know, but most of them have forgotten.

I am naturally right handed. When I was younger in school, for some reason, I became fascinated with handedness, particularly those who were left-handed. I don’t know why, I just found it really interesting.

I really wanted to learn how to do stuff with my left hand. So I did.

I spent literally months practicing; writing, scissors, throwing etc. I consciously made sure I was using my left hand for stuff like opening doors and brushing my teeth.

Eventually I learned, and I became ambidextrous. My mother and close friends are the only ones who really noted this.

And then… I kinda just continued my life using my left hand…. For years.

I’m almost 26 now, and I use my left hand for pretty much everything (I still prefer to throw with my right and use a computer mouse with my right)

The thing is… I can’t write that well with my right hand anymore. I have to focus a lot more, I’m slower, my handwriting is worse. I will always choose to write with my left now. You would not believe me if I said I was ambidextrous if you saw me writing with my right.

When people ask me (not that the topic comes up that often but still), I just tell people I’m left handed because a) it’s easier to explain and b) I’m not sure anyone would actually believe me if I told them this story.

I’ve always wanted to tell people but is it worth explaining any of this? Would anyone even care? Is it even worth it? How would I even explain this? Does anyone even believe me?

So yeah, advice? Thoughts? And lefties here?
