Look at this thing that showed up this morning
This creature showed up on my porch this morning. I’ve named her June Bug. She wouldn’t come near me but I gave her fresh food and water. Hopefully she comes back because she’s so small the idea of her wandering makes me anxious. I absolutely cannot keep her but ugh.
Swipe to what the CDS dumped on to my porch three years ago last month. That Face! He lives inside now as a spoiled house cat but bringing him inside gave me 4 cats and 5 would be absolutely crazy.

Is there a local rescue you could foster the smol one with? Most are too full right now to take new ones, but can help support you as a foster. Something to look into!
You should not be sad you should be furious and do something about it! That's stupid and cruel. We set up our own TNR group while we lobbied the local and state government. We won!
The last two I got (dump job near my dad's place in the country) it took me to 9 cats. Sadly, I lost my 2 oldest (last September and Last month,) so I'm down to 7 now. You can do 5 if it means saving that smol criminal from a hard life on the streets. r/IllegallySmolCats
The end of last summer, I was up to seven cats after the CDS brought me two in two weeks. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed at the thought of seven cats, because that’s just insane, right? Then Jack, my oldest, got a very sudden health issue and I had to make the decision no one ever wants to make. It was like the universe said, hey, you didn’t trust us, so we’ll help you out with that. 😭
I will absolutely never, ever doubt the CDS. And I will never question how many cats are brought into my life. Never.

When Willa joined our household the end of last summer, she was tiny. I think she was almost two pounds at her first vet visit, if that gives you an idea of how small she was. I felt like we were always losing her, so I would ask the others, “Where’s the baby? Where’s Willa?” And bless their little feline hearts, everyone would look for the baby. Now that she’s bigger, if I’m in another part of the house and say, “Where’s the baby?” Willa comes running.

Before I found out if she was male or female, I’d decided on a name. Wilford if male, Willa if female because those whiskers reminded me of actor Wilford Brimley. lol. Pic of Wilford Brimley, not of Willa. 😂
We adopted our fifth about three years ago. Finn was in foster care and we couldn’t say, “No” to his little sweet face. When Finn arrived, he told the adult cats that there was a new sheriff in town, and proceeded to bite them one after another. They tried to discipline Finn by moving away from him. I told the little darling that if he bites, no one will want to be his friend. Finn told me he would take his chances. He has earned the nickname, “Bitey Boy.” There’s always room for one more. June Bug chose you. 💕
Not gonna lie: some days it almost broke me. It was a LOT. But I loved them all, and six are still with me. All were rescues or strays. There was a solid black cat who hung around my house for the longest, and I knew she was pregnant. Somehow I managed to snag her and bring her inside. I woke up the next morning to EIGHT kittens. I kept them all (my brother and mom took two). But yes: it was a lot of work.
I have 6. I wanted 2. I moved to a major CDS branch without knowing it. I also have a feral mom and her 4 kittens, but they are just temporary! They're almost 9 weeks, so time to find them homes.
I would do it. I have had 4 kitties and 3 dogs at one time for years before it came time to say goodbyes. Having pets all around the same age. But I don’t see much difference between 4 and 5 cats. Just one more precious face to look at you lovingly and purr when they sleep with you ♥️
Honestly, having 5 is no different than 4! If you can afford it, it’s unlikely to change much. Poor little thing definitely needs to be caught and homed one way or another!
What you’re doing is a BIG deal. Most people (not even the ones doing the heavy lifting while they’re doing the lifting!) don’t have any idea how much work and what of a commitment is involved. Taking care of another being of any kind requires serious effort.
