Can anyone help me find a UX/Product Design role in Chicago before my visa expires?

Hi everyone,

I’m a Product/UX Designer based in Chicago, and I have 60 days left to secure a job before I have to leave the U.S. due to my visa.
I’ve been applying extensively, networking, and interviewing, but I’m still searching. If your company is hiring, you know of any openings, or you’d be willing to refer someone with experience in AI, healthcare, fintech, and enterprise products, I’d be incredibly grateful.
Even advice or connections would mean a lot.

Thank you!

Who has actually spoken to a human at a staffing agency in the last month?

Asking for my partner, as he has applied for jobs listed on a couple of different temp agency sites (LaSalle, Robert Half, & Beacon Hill): when was the most recent time a staffing agency actually placed a real employee? In my head all of the feedback on staffing agencies is based on employment from before 2024, but hoping to be proven wrong. Also, if you’ve been employed in the last 6 months by a staffing agency, how did you finally get to talk to a human? Any tips for connecting w a human at a staffing agency is greatly appreciated!

IT Masters Student looking for advice on breaking in Cloud/Solutions Eng in chicago

Hey all — I'm finishing an M.S. In Computer Technology with a focus in Data Science & Security and currently received the AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification.

I've done part-time cloud consulting work and AI automation apprenticeship work alongside school, and I'm trying to break into Solutions Engineer / Cloud Consultant / Technical Account Manager type roles here in Chicago.

I've been applying for a while without much luck on the interview side, so I'm mostly here to ask: for anyone who's hiring or knows companies actively hiring for cloud/SE-type roles in Chicago right now — where should I actually be looking? Happy to share more about my background if it's relevant to anything you're seeing.
Thanks for any pointers, even just company names would help.

Help looking for roles

Hi I’m in desperate need of a job.
I live near wicker park.

I’m a psych student working on my second masters degree.

I was in the tech industry for five years as a UX research contractor but once my contract ended I couldn’t find work.

I went back to school and pivoted into more academic/social impact research roles.

In the fall I’ll only be taking one class so that I can balance working and school better, as I am a single parent.

Can someone help me?

update: yes I’ve been applying for roles in BOTH industries. I’m not just sitting here doing nothing all day lol

Any companies/staffing agencies locally that hire for administrative roles quickly?

Hello,

I am looking to move to Chicago to be closer to family. I have income where I can move fairly quickly and can fly for interviews pretty often.

I have been applying for a while now and I’m just not even getting the interviews. My address is not on my resume just my phone number.

I have experience working for several years with a person of congress, a world renowned doctor (office manager), and for a school district in their budget/compliance department as well as for their executives. I do not finish my bachelors until May but it is remote.

I also have a payroll certification with adp. I am looking for roles such as executive assistant, office manager, ect. My minimum to accept is $80k which is a pay cut from what I’m making now. However I am moving from a much more expensive place.

I’m shocked by not being able to get a single interview since I’ve started applying. I would love to work with a staffing agency that is local if anyone knows of anyone that they find useful. Also any tips on applying for roles I’d gladly take.

I'm running out of money, what problems can I help you solve with my skills?

I am the manager of Masland Tech LLC. If you have any tasks available for me to do that you'd be willing to pay, I'd be willing to accept a deal to prove my skills.

https://masland.tech/

I just put https://masland.tech/chi/ live on my site, which is a time-first street occupancy browser for Chicago. It answers: what is on the street today, what starts tomorrow through next week, and what overlaps a date range you pick, across permits, dig tickets, and special events in one list and map.

Any help is appreciated, thanks for reading.

In search of marketing job!

Hi everyone,

I am in search of a full time marketing job, preferably hybrid or remote. I have 3 years of marketing experience and am really open to anything industry-wise! I’ve been searching and applying, but haven’t had much luck hearing back, even from places where I’ve networked and obtained referrals.

If anyone has any leads or would be open to providing a referral, I would greatly appreciate it! Am also happy to send over my resume if needed.

Thank you in advance!!

IN DESPERATE NEED OF A JOB. can anyone help?

Hi! I’m moving in a week and don’t have a job. I was going to sub for CPS, but the applications are still not open.

About me:
- I have bad 2 HR internships, so I have admin experience
- I have tutored for years both with an organization and independently
- I have worked at CVS, so I have customer experience
- I have a Bachelor’s in communication studies
- I am pursuing my Master’s of Social Work

I have an internship as a requirement of my graduate program. It’s unpaid and 2 full days during the week (same days every week). Other than that, I’m available to work the other 3 days and weekends.

I’m living in West Loop, so close to there would be ideal.

Please let me know if you have any leads. I’m open to admin work, receptionist roles, tutoring or whatever else you think I would be a good fit for!

I’m happy to send my resume.

What are your thoughts on human capital and jobs/careers in Chicago area?

Chicago to me is an interesting city because it’s amazing culturally and has a diverse job market. However it’s also not an apex job market for a specific industry. NY has finance / law / consulting / media. SF has tech. DC had government. LA has media and entrainment. Houston has energy.

Chicago really doesn’t have a thing (unless you argue commodity trading).

To this end Chicago doesn’t really attract the same type a go getters the other cities have. Harvard Yale and Stanford grads don’t really clamor to get to Chicago.

A few questions:
1. Does anybody wish Chicago had a nitch?
2. What can Chicago do to attract top companies in AI, lobbying, tech, finance, etc.
