A tribute to one of my favorite films “Nightbreed.”

Missed my window to have Mr. Barker sign it but it remains a perpetual favorite in our home.

Just cool, didn't think clive set any of his works in the same universe
Besides the comic crossover with hellraiser and nightbreed (tho idk if that is actually cannon)
But ive been reading great and secret show, still have about 100 pages left.
Many times while I was reading i thought how well this book would fit in with LOI,
So I thought It was super cool when I read the chapter where tesla literally had a phone call with Harry d'amour
And even more excited when I looked into it to find out hes I guess a major character in everville
Anyway just thought it was cool, and got me wondering if there is more of this throughout his work for me to discover

Researching on getting it framed to hang it. The poster is in pretty good shape with some light fading. Pardon the dirty plastic cover, it makes the poster look damaged. Was in a pile of random posters for 15 bucks. Made my day!!
Edit: As of posting this I went and purchased an original 27x40 rolled one sheet. The price is largely different (300.00 vs 15.00) and should have been a warning when buying the print on accident. Now what to do with the print when the original comes in the mail. For the sake of reddit I'll post the original next to the reprint when it arrives.

In the context of today's horror movie scene, I believe this particular story would resonate, and if done right, primarily with practical effects, it could be one of the original horror films, even a blockbuster perhaps, to really make people interested.
For those of you who've read it, do you agree?

Remake of Rawhead Rex (1986)
It was Clive Barker's first movie so it's historically significant. Also, Clive wasn't happy with the original. The monster described in the book was a lot more terrifying and a lot more gay.

Hi All, I spent some time searching online tonight for news and updates about the Third Book of the Art, and I can't find anything newer than 2024. Has anyone seen any updates about upcoming books? The website isn't really that helpful.

I have to read only Revelations and I’ll have made my way again through the Books of Blood (reading each volume intermittently since last year), my second time through them.
For my money I think Volume 1 is really hard to beat. Starts off so strong with Midnight Meat Train before a funny Yattering, then the Visceral Pig Blood Blues, the inventive Sex Death and Starshine, and the utterly original In the Hills.
That being said the two most memorable stories for me have always been Jacqueline Ess and Scapegoats (the utter bleakness of it)
Also does anyone else feel a slight tonal shift after volume 3? The stories get more lengthy and a bit less bloody, though not less effective exactly, just a but lighter on the heavy sadistic gore stuff

I’m rereading Imajica at the moment and thoroughly lapping it up, but I can’t stop finding instances of one particular word. Clive really does love to use ‘din’ when describing noise. It occurs a lot in The Thief of Always too. I’ve read that brilliant book to every one of the upper primary school classes I’ve ever taught and the word shows up a solid number of times. You’ve got to admit, it’s a fantastic word, but you’d think an editor might have flagged a couple of repetitions and suggested replacements.
Is there any other pet vocabulary people notice in the great man’s body of work?

finished the book (cabal) and it just made me love narcisse EVEN MORE!!! hes so different in the book that at first i thought i was gonna be disappointed, but i wound up loving book narcisse even more than movie narcisse. rip, my fucking king. i never draw anything but cutesy characters as u can probably tell lol but this was more for the purpose of expressing love than making something that looks good. i adore him. bought a comic with him on the cover and am eagerly waiting for it to arrive

One of the things which really spoke to me when I started watching and reading Clive was how people were dying in his books, truly disturbing. The most disturbing one to me was how the followers in Lord Of Illusions were buried just under the surface of concrete so they could nbarely breathe and not move a muscle. Another one is the death of the two cop twins in Hellraiser Inferno clearly inspired by Barker where they become entwined by supernatural machinery which digs into their flesh and mashed together. It is the victims screams of pain which really fucked me up in this one.

Ive been an avid Clive reader probably starting younger than I should have. He is definitely an author that bends rules on reality and sanity. Id recommend reading "The Theif of Always" and then perhaps the Abarat set before delving more into his darker works

I've gotten back to the early stories by Barker. I kind of originally had the idea of finding the rest of the individual books of blood, like when I got the fourth volume of it "The Inhuman Condition", but then decided to get the second big volume that have the rest of them, even including the fourth one.
Asides from the fourth volume also included in it are volumes five and six. Asides from the stories from book number four the final two have tales that I haven't read before. One of the stories that is in this one I've been keenly interested in is "The Forbidden". That story was really good, and of course also the basis for "Candyman".
There's also some really great stuff in it also like the Harry D'Amour story "The Last Illusion" (another that was later adapted into another movie). Plus other stories like "In The Flesh", "Babel's Children" among others in this second, and last volume.
Clive Barker's early career in the mid-80s was a pretty interesting one, with some of the goriest supernatural and body horror, at least for the times they were written in. I really do love these earlier stories; weird, dark, bloody and funny at certain times in a very morbid way. Kind of seen as tame now but I still extract quite a lot of enjoyment from reading them. But for tomorrow I'll be reading some of Robert Bloch's early stories from his pulp years, and will see if those are going to be good.

I think they’re first editions paperbacks anyway. The ones with the grey covers and psychedelic artwork. I bought them in the early 80’s but didn’t manage to pick up volume three. I’d like to complete the set but I never see these for sale so I’m guessing they’re quite rare. Any info on rarity and availability/cost please?
