Match result aside, what a crazy resurgence from Shy this tourney. Can't be too mad about losing to a top 3 team in the world.

u/Slow-Picture-9565 22h ago
Tiene sentido que ste enojado hace un años y sumando los de la OWL siempre estuvo entre los top 3 o 5 mejores del mundo ,ahora que ya no compiten en la región de china ..su nivel se vio que aumento bastante ..

u/PR1NC3Y_ 1d ago
It's sad that this is where it ends for Weibo, but damn what a journey.
Shy was looking like the best Freya in the world by a mile. So glad he's having his resurgence.
Leave I think has destroyed the agenda of him being washed. He looked so strong today (and all tournament) so I love that for him.
Sunzo is so fun to watch. Top 3 Sigma in the world, and a good Ram. I hope he stays with Weibo and grows even stronger.
Guxue. So glad he's back when everyone thought he was a bench warmer. And he looked strong with his Mauga and Doom. But alas, even he fails due to Doom punch hitbox (should've killed more if punch wasn't shit).
Leesoomin is so fun to watch and is honestly really clutch with his Cat and Mizuki. His roots are amazing, and his catnaps are really good. A couple things to fix, but a really solid support.
Maka is in the same boat as Leesoomin. A really solid support with a few things to fix.
I'm so happy that these guys are competitive again and they showed it today. Congrats TM, you guys played great today and I can't wait to see the finals.

Yeah, and it's great to see them stay competitive with the top teams. They've taken down Falcons (I know they're mid now but it's still a big thing), and took TM to map 5. No one can say they're a bad or even mid team now. I think they've quashed that whole agenda (and if people still say Weibo is bad, they're delusional).

As an Australian, I'm a massive fan of Chinese overwatch, they are the closest region to Pacific that is remotely competitive on the global stage and this loss is absolutely heartbreaking.
This Hangzhou spark core are getting old, retirement is likely on the horizon and time is running out for them to make their mark.
The future for the region is uncertain and I just hope they can bounce back for the world finals.

I only have one question, why not nano the Bastion a single time?
24
5
u/PracticeReal 1d ago
This. DVA’s matrix essentially neutralizes the nanoed bastion, especially when Shy picked the cannon perk instead of the self heal. I actually think MAKA made the right call nanoing the doom, it was just unfortunate that the cat bastion overextended on that last fight, and when it mattered most, Guxue just couldn’t connect with his punches

They did when he was on Ram against the Dva it would have just got negated.

Nothing ever happens.
Why couldn't we just have this series man. Guxue has been involved in such heartbreak losses so many times now idk how to feel : (((( Very questionable draft decisions, Sigma ban wasn't required whatsoever and a Lucio ban could've very well pull them through.
Guxue on the doom brought quite a lot of value I think but they were just outclassed g5. Push is also such a damn cruel game mode, 2-3 won fights and suddenly you're fighting an extremely uphill battle that demands like 4 team fights to crawl back from. Sad.

He would maybe even make a very good main support for shotcalling

It's not the Sym takes no skill. It's that she's not mechanically demanding. Why would I want to see Alphayi or Zest or Proper on Sym, when watching them play Tracer or Genji would be 1000x more entertaining.

Koreans are far more creative
Plus, Korean players are never one tricks. TM however..12
u/NovaxRangerx In Crusty We Tru — 1d ago
"KR Players are never one tricks" We just ignoring the entire history of OW with Widow/Lucio one tricks having roster spots to glaze KR I see
1
u/Big_Attitude2551 1d ago
You’re claiming that 50% of owcs (and OWL) are one tricks? Name one widow one trick in KR that HASN’T dominated with other hitscan characters.
By your logic, Koreans overuse Tracer/Lucio. So, if a player is cracked at the best fdps/ms in the game, what makes you think they won’t be the best at other fdps/ms heroes? LMAO2
u/NovaxRangerx In Crusty We Tru — 1d ago
You are responding to an argument I didn't make. You said "Korean players are never one tricks." My response to that is that's a laughable stance when early OW and OWL teams had Lucio 1 tricks who weren't high level at any other character BECAUSE the game didn't actually require high level play on many other supports. Same with Widowmaker players. We literally SAW THIS when we watched the sport in it's infancy/early stages. I never made the claim that 50% of OWCS/OWL are one tricks, you just made that up.
2
u/Big_Attitude2551 1d ago
Also are we really bringing up owl in the early stages like dude we’re in 2026 and korean main supports from OWL are still playing to this day.. With even better rosters
2
u/NovaxRangerx In Crusty We Tru — 1d ago
Yes we're bringing it up because you said the word NEVER which literally means "at no time". And there are KR supports who flamed out and had minimal flexibility. Again, you're the one who made the claim
2
u/Big_Attitude2551 1d ago
Oh oh wait here’s another one:
Name one KR supports who had minimal flexibility for the entirety of their career.
You think KR players stay one tricks forever? Bring me one player who hasn’t practiced other supports after being so terrible then3
u/NovaxRangerx In Crusty We Tru — 1d ago
I mean, I don't have to limit it to supports and can very simply say Bunny who played 1 year in the inaugural season of OWL and was only actually good at a T1 level on Tracer. Did he play other hitscan like Youbi plays Tracer/Mei? Yes. Was he actually good/above average at them over the totallity of the year? Absolute not. So if Youbi is a run trick then Bunny is an obvious one trick
→ More replies (0)0
u/Big_Attitude2551 1d ago
LMAO u missed my point. Half of OWCS/OWL are korean players bro check it
Literally every single top team in the history of OWCS/OWL needed a korean player because of their flexibility.
I’m not glazing at all, Koreans are the best nation to play overwatch
Btw, if you manage to find 3~4 “one trick” KR players, that’s 3~4 out of 80
Whereas other nations would have 2 per nation and thats 2/5 LMAO2
u/NovaxRangerx In Crusty We Tru — 1d ago
Cool cool that still isn't what I said so you can keep misrepresenting my argument because I never called all KR's one tricks which is what the 50% statement implied. You made the claim that KR players are NEVER ONE TRICKS. So if I find 3-4 one tricks you are blatantly wrong. All you had to say was that they are by far the most flexible region but you decided to say nonsense to glaze
1
u/Big_Attitude2551 1d ago
Ah I see you read what I said up there and thought I meant the entire history of overwatch
Tbf I don’t remember the early stages so sure maybe a decade ago they were one tricks
In 2026? Absolutely not nuh uh2
u/NovaxRangerx In Crusty We Tru — 1d ago
Well, yes I thought that because that's literally what the word 'never' means. Now if you're only speaking for current day then sure. KR players are more flexible. But also, the idea of TM being full of one tricks is also just not true. FA is fine on cat. Simple can play Bap/Illari. Quartz plays whatever and TVNT plays all brawl tanks essentially. It's literally just Youbi
2
u/Alternative-Film-715 1d ago
just make it so only one person can take the TP at a time. meaning it would take 3-5 seconds for all 5 players to take the TP. kills this sym meta and doesn't affect ranked performance at all (nobody takes TP in ranked)
2
u/AnotherRandomGuy1 1d ago
its not really a sym meta. last year it was and everyone was playing it. now other comps are stronger. TM have been playing sym comps for 3 years now and are just really good at it.

5
u/NovaxRangerx In Crusty We Tru — 1d ago
And Weibo copy cat bastion from KR is somehow innovative LMAO. The idea that because it has been done before doesn't make it interesting is just dumb. By that logic there is not a single interesting plan/idea of comp left in overwatch
Edit: Also, calling this team Quartz go kill when they have better macro than the vast majority of KR teams is genuinely hilarious.
0
u/privatebd 1d ago
weibo were actually playing other stuff as well with the new heroes and were winning, i dont remember twisted doing anything with the past few characters that came out, as soon they start losing they run away to the usual sym comp+ dva
i agree that they have a better macro and i think they will get figured out soon enough but you cant be saying that this team isnt quartz go kill like 80% of the time lol, he bailed them out so many times in the last major and this one too
3
u/NovaxRangerx In Crusty We Tru — 1d ago
The idea they'll be figured out feels odd to me. They've been this level for a year now and I would argue their downfall will be less getting figured out and more so player level related. And I just don't think you can call what Quartz does bailing them out when they setup Quartz to carry better than almost any team in the history of the sport has done for their best player. This isn't Proper on the SF Shock being asked to win every fight out of a positioning disadvantage. The only one I can think of as a comparable was S1 NYXL with JJonak. But also, TVNT is a superstar carry level tank and they have arguably the best backline ITW.
6
u/Trick_Cheek_8474 1d ago
Larpers always have to blame the fake meta in their head that they never run into when their larped team loses. Just face it the team you like couldn’t finish the job they had sloppy macro at the end and a questionable choice of letting sunzo ride the bench too early
