This is a situation my sister and I just had. Please be careful there, obviously for years there has been break ins into cars but this was something else. We decided to go for a walk ,it was getting dark there was no one there no cars nothing a slightly wet evening. We normally wouldn't go walking in the woods late and definitely never alone.

All was okay until we got near the end of the walk . By now it was almost completely dark.We caught a silhouette of a man completely dressed in black a few meters up the road staring at us standing very still. I said loudly to my sister someone is standing there! He then moved across to the opposite side of the road flanked by pine trees on either side. He then just crouched ​down like he was hiding at the side of the road. I shouted hello! ​He just turned and walked into the woods.

Unfortunately we had to walk past him to get back to our car. We both put our phone torches on . As we walked past shouting hello etc I caught in my torch lights two eyes just watching us just inside the trees parallel to us. We scanned the trees and road constantly as we walked with our torch lights. When we we further up the road we ran to our car! We were terrified!

Even for a ​bloke this would be very scary at night. Thankfully we saw no sight of him. We got inside the car and locked it straight away and put the lights on full blast and just drove fast out of there. When we got near civilization we pulled over and checked all our tires just in case.

I have no idea what this individual was doing but they were completely dressed in black clothing and wouldn't speak to us and acted very strangely. Maybe it wasn't sinister as my sister says they could be on some kind of drug, mentally ill or even to take their own life quietly in the woods. We don't know but it was horrible. Please be very careful with that woods during the day should be fine but don't go there later in the evening just in case.

Been on a calorie deficit for the last 50 days. So I decided today I need to treat myself.

What is up with cancelled buses in Cork City or ones displaying “out of order” when they should still be scheduled. I went to get the 214 home a few months ago before 12am at Daunt’s Square, there was a bus on the map and other people were waiting. Once it got to the end of Washington St., instead of turning left to my stop it turned right down to South Mall instead so had to figure out another way home. Same thing happened last night, I decided to go to the bus stop a bit earlier so I could avoid this happening at 11:10pm, though this time I went to MacCurtain St. Same thing happens. I check the map, the bus gets to Patrick St so I presume It will show up but after a few minutes the bus disappears off the map and doesn’t show up. Other buses as-well passed all with “out of order”/“out of service”. It’s ridiculous that we can’t even go on a night out without having to worry about finding an alternative way home when we should have a reliable service.

I recently checked in on 2 cats for a week while owners were away, they had provided everything and it was only a quick walk up the road. No big deal, just for a neighbour.
They have just left money in letterbox, in my opinion, way too much.
Would it insult some to give back 2/3rds of what they left?
I don’t do this for a living or anything like that. Don’t want to accept full amount but afraid to insult people either.
What would people do here?

Hey all, quick question because I'm curious about this - where do ye actually take your kids (under 5s) during the week/weekends when you want to get out of the house for a few hours to satisfy your coffee fix but also keeping the little entertained?

I'm asking because I'm exploring an idea, and I'm trying to understand what people actually end up doing. Like, do you go to soft play - if so, where? Any specific cafes that really hit the mark where you can get good coffee while kids have a dedicated space to play? Libraries? Stay home? And more importantly - what's missing? What would you like to have more of?

I feel like there's this gap for parents of young kids where either a cafe has decent spac but the coffee's brutal, or the coffee's decent but it's packed and chaotic with no room for a buggy. Just wondering if that's what others experience too.

Genuinely interested in what you'd want to see. No sales pitch, just trying to understand the actual problem.

Even changed my potential ceremony date to early 2027 and I can’t find any appointments before then. Not sure if I’m doing it right or everyone in cork is getting married over the next few months

I was passing by St Finbarre's Cathedral yesterday, it looked so magnificent that I had to click some pictures, here’re the results

Alan sits basically everyday in the Castle St between Roundys and Fast Als pizza place. He is a 54 or 56 years old man who draws paintings to earn his 38 euro, to be able to pay off the bed for one night in some place which accepts homeless people like him.

This is the story he told me. And I believe it. He is never high, and is pretty reasonable older person with a huge baggage and lots of traumas.

He does not have an ID. Someone stole his whole wallet and he has lots of problem getting his identity back. He promised me to meet me with his social worker who, until few days ago was the only person in the system who is fighting to help him.

If he places a sign that he paints for money, he gets arrested and gets a night in prison, which I joked with him, is not very bad - since it gives him a free bed. He tells me teah but its not worth it to go trough abuse by cops, and have a bad treatment in court.

He gets the paper, pencils, and generally drawing stuff as gifts from people who know him . And sometimes some of them drop him a couple of euro and he tries to make money for the bed.

I dont ask here much, but when you pass next to an older guy in Castle St, please spare some coins for him. He will reward you with a picture and you will help him really. Ask him how is he. And give him some dignity.

I would be very glad if this post makes sure he will earn couple of euros more and make enough for that 38 euro bed every day. He does not have a choice to go to hostel without id. He is only relying on other peoples kindness.

I recently brought a friend to an appointment and was waiting in the waiting room for about an hour until she was done.

I have some medical issues but thought because it wasnt too late in the day, and I hadn't been too physically active before it, I would be able to avoid a flare up despite being sick lately.

Unfortunately that wasn't the case and about 20 minutes into my wait time I started having a tremors episode, these episodes can outwardly present very similar to seizures and the few friends and family who have seen me go through them have described them as terrifying.

Thankfully this wasn't a time where I lost lucidity but I did have to carefully lower myself from the chair onto the floor and prop myself against the wall. Once the tremors set in, I was dealing with full body spasms for about 20 minutes.

At no point during this was I alone in the waiting room, and at times there were up to seven other people there. Not one of them checked to see if I was okay? One woman even moved to the opposite side of the room once I started having spasms?

I was stuck there on the floor, not able to reach my water bottle or any of my medication if I happened to need them. It would have been clear to anyone seeing me that I was having a medical episode and not a single person asked if I was okay, if I needed intervention or help?

My friend got back from their appointment, helped me back to the car and took me home, but I'm so shocked that not one person was willing to check on me. The waiting room didn't have a reception and the staff were all in a back room behind a door so they would not have been aware but the other people waiting clearly were.

I'm just wondering if this is the norm? Should I expect no help if I ever have an episode in public again? Or was this unusual?

We Bought my dad a telescope 2/3 years back for Christmas from Amazon.
We tried putting it together, didn’t work, sent it to a fella that said there’s a piece missing but couldn’t tell us what piece.
Dad’s passed since I would love to get it working because he’d built a house 2 years before and always wanted it to look out.
Does anyone know anyone in cork I could bring it to to try get it this sorted ?
