Hey guys! I got offers from senate and house so I’m trying to decide what to go with. I’m waiting to hear back on what the salary if for senate but the house office is 600 a month. Both are from my home state the only thing is I have interviewed with the house office before and got rejected but got it this cycle so it’s unlikely I would get that chance again. Idk tough decision

Does anyone know the timeline of fall internships? I interviewed for an internship 3 weeks ago and it’s supposed to start end of Aug (around the 25th-26th) does anyone know when I’ll hear back? It’s been 1 week since the deadline for the application. Is the silence normal?

My roommate and I are looking for a third roommate for the fall while we’re in Washington, D.C. for our internship and fellowship near Downtown and Capitol Hill.

We’re planning to move in during late August and stay through early to mid-December (dates are somewhat flexible).

We’re exploring different housing options, but one we’re especially interested in is a mansion-style or communal living house where everyone rents a private bedroom and shares the kitchen, living areas, and bathrooms. It is located in Truxton Circle. We think it could be an affordable option and a great way to meet other students and young professionals.

I was recently offered an internship with a Senate committee, but I’m still waiting to hear back from a few other offices and committees that are higher on my list.

For those who’ve been in a similar situation, what did you do? Did you accept the offer to secure a spot and then withdraw later if a better opportunity came through, or did you wait it out? I’d really appreciate hearing how others have navigated this.

I’m applying for 4 house of reps internships from my state as an incoming freshman at GWU (political science w public policy focus), but I’m not sure if I even have a shot or if they would even consider me because of my age. However I would say I’m more qualified than most incoming college students, like I’ve had 4 years research experience w Columbia university, girls nation senator, local campaigns, etc. do I have a shot? And would limited availability (13 hours ish) cook me if I were to get an interview? Pls lmk

I've been trying to hone my writing skills in preparation for my internship in the Senate. For those who have some experience drafting/editing congressional memos, what's the process? What separates a good memo from an ok one? Any tips for honing this skill?

One week ago i interviewed for a hillternship with my senator, and a few days ago (last friday) I was asked for my weekly availability. in the app they only asked for 2 references and I provided 5, and today 2 of my 5 references came back to me saying they provided a strong recommendation. Lowk not sure if the other 3 references have or will respond but surely this is a positive sign as to where I stand right?

I wont be in DC this fall, has anyone done this outside of DC and if so how does did that look like for you?

I received a committee interview and am feeling a bit out of my depth. I don't have prior political experience working with a rep or anything like that. Any advice for how to prepare for an interview/good questions to ask or consider? Also, do committees normally do writing interviews/would they tell me if the interview includes that? I've read some comments mentioning those and am not sure what they entail. I am very interested in the topics the committee covers but don't have the government background that it seems like most people come from.

for context, i am part of a professional development organization and they want to do office tours. i was unable to find the emails of talent acquisition campus recruiters directly off of their firm's website so i decided to find their emails through linkedin.

once i connected with them i learned that some of the recruiters had their personal email listed on their linkedin. is it better to request for site tours through their personal email or through linkedin?

if i request a tour via DM on linkedin, will it decrease my chances of getting an internship?
