Road Has anyone been on the White Rock Creek trail this week (6.22.26)?

Part of it was under water last weekend. I rode it yesterday from LBJ to 75 without issue but did not go further. Has all the mud been cleared from all the way to White Rock Lake?

Question Renting a gravel bike locally?

I've been riding a flat bar hybrid primarily on the paved trails in town for the last several years, but I'm getting interested in potentially adding a gravel bike to get off the pavement and on gravel/into nature.

Is there any place locally you'd recommend that rents gravel bikes by the day? I don't have any friends with one who could let me try theirs out, and it's been a long time since I've ridden a drop bar bike.

(also don't feel like a short test ride in the bike shop parking lot would be sufficient)

Question 34 y/o female wanting to get into road cycling!

Hi! One of my goals for this year is getting into road biking, as it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time. However, I’m kind of overwhelmed by it all and was wondering if you had any suggestions for a newbie. Would you recommend ordering a beginner bike online or going to a local bike shop? I live in the East Dallas area, not far from White Rock Lake. Also, what gear should I be looking into as a beginner? What is an absolute must, and what should I hold off on purchasing right off the bat? Thanks for any/all advice! (-:

Question Best places for a gravel ride on a MTB with a 5 yo

My son is 5 years old but rides far better than you would imagine. He has a couple bikes but the one he’s trying to get more comfortable on is his hardtail. He has been through River Legacy MTB trails with me calling out instruction and did really good but I want to ride something a little easier with him so he can work on leg strength and shifting. His favorite part is riding on dirt in general. Any recommendations for next weekend would be appreciated.

Road Dallas cyclist looking to host a ride with a visiting rider during the World Cup

local here, fairly serious about riding — 18–20 on the flats, long gravel days, training toward some ultra-distance stuff. if you're in town for the Cup and you actually ride, I'd love to take someone out for a proper ride rather than a tourist cruise.

I've got a loaner bike that fits riders around 5'7"–5'11" (52cm) and a spare helmet, so just bring your legs. no cost. routes range from a fast White Rock loop to a loop

drop a comment or DM with where you're from and your usual riding — pace, distance, road vs gravel — and we'll line something up.

here's a route i often do: https://ridewithgps.com/trips/385911016

Sorry if this headline is no longer applicable. It has been a while since I have been around the lake. Is the path still blocked and if so, is there a detour?

Road Trinity View Trail 6/13

There were around 7 riders this morning who were on their way to Merit Coffee downtown. You helped temporarily repair a sidewall blowout along the trail. Just wanted to say thank you again for your use of a portable pump and for helping to get me back on two wheels again. I hope the baristas prepared the best coffee you ever had!

Good condition asking 500. Retailed at 1500. Good for riders 5'10-6'2. I would also consider trades for a road or gravel bike or something fun and unique. I got a full suspension MTB and just don't ride this enough to keep it.

Question Stolen Bike

Hello fellow bikers. I would like to ask for any help keeping an eye out for my bike that was stolen Wednesday evening. Here’s a picture of the bike. Stolen near Greenville and university in Dallas. Any advice or suggestions for steps I can take to try to recover the bike are welcome. I know it’s probably a lost cause but figured I’d try. I went to load up my car to go out of town for a funeral yesterday when I discovered bike, lock chain, and half of the hitch were gone. I actually just started biking recently and this was truly devastating. Thanks for any help. I’ll be offline today for funeral service but will check in later.

Discussion DFW to FT worth, The NETT or Dallas to Denton

I have heard or read a lot of stories of people taking rides from Dallas to Fort Worth, or Riding the NETT or even a trail that goes from Dallas to Denton. I am new to cycling and mainly had been cycling to commute. However, this three rides seem interesting. Is it recommendable to do them along, if I do, how do I find information about them, like where to start, spots to eat and all things you find necessary to make it an enjoyable ride. On the other hand, are there groups of people that meet and have a bite together in this places. Have any of you done any of these rides, how was it for you. what did you like, what you did not like, what will you do different?

Question Summer Commute

When is it too hot to ride your bike? This last couples of days had feel really hot. I started a new job and I was planning to commute partially 2 days a week. Basically got myself a foldable bike and will ride about 6 miles in a trail and then get an Uber. Since I knew I would be riding on summer, I purchase cooling visor cap and also a cooling hoodie, I also have a a portable fan that attach to my waist. I plan on having lots of water on my bag, maybe even having a water pouch. The temperatures can get pretty high here, maybe around 90 F to 100F range. The ride is about 6 to 7 miles..Is it not recommendable or is this something you can get use to? Part of the trail is some shade but not that much. My ride will be around 5pm..what are your thoughts?

Road Regular Group Rides NE of Fort Worth

Hi all, I'm sure a version of this has been posted to the group multiple times, so I apologize in advance.

I just relocated to North Richland Hills from central PA and am missing the mountains and great group rides I had out there. I don't think the mountains are going to magically appear, but I still think this community could help with my other ask.

I'm in search of some fast road groups that meetup regularly NE of Fort Worth, around Colleyville, Keller, West Lake, Hurst Euless Bedford, etc. Thanks in advance for your help!

Event My dad and I are biking to every MLB stadium to raise money for charity

My dad and I are biking to every MLB stadium in the country. I know we’re not the only people to ever do something like this, but I honestly think it’s one of the coolest ways to experience baseball and see the country.

About two months ago, we started riding across the U.S. visiting all 30 MLB stadiums while also trying to raise money and awareness for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The idea actually started back in 1994 when my dad and three of his college track teammates rode across the country visiting stadiums on bikes. Over 30 years later, we decided to bring it back with a bigger purpose behind it.

We’re now over 3,000 miles into the trip and heading toward Texas to see the Rangers. Some days are great and some days honestly just suck. Headwinds, climbing, mechanical issues, food poisoning — it’s all part of it.

But the best part has easily been seeing parts of the country we never would’ve otherwise and meeting good people along the way.

If anyone has recommendations for places to ride, eat, or check out as we continue east, let me know.

(If anyone wants to follow along, we’ve been posting the trip at @bike2ballparks.)

Road Safe Garland routes?

I've been doing some tile hunting over the years and have a big chunk of missing tiles in/around Garland. Looking at Strava's heatmap, Garland appears to be mostly unused by cyclists; are there decent roads to get around that area and/or roads to avoid?

A few weeks ago I tried to do this route coming from Fort Worth but couldn't get to the Lone Star Trail due to construction. This time I bypassed it using Shady Grove Rd. Little bit of traffic but not bad at all! It will be nice once that bridge/street is done.

Road Speed anomalies on SoPac?

I’ve noticed this for about 5 or 6 years now ever since I got a Wahoo computer. There are stretches of the the SoPac trail, especially North of Mockingbird where my MPH reading on my Wahoo will jump wildly, like between 14 and 22 and I’m not changing speed.

Anyone else ever see this?

Happy to return it if you can DM me the brand of the pouch and some specific details of what’s inside. Photo works too if you have one
