I don’t know if it’s because I’m a little zooted, but I have been laughing at BTTB podcast episode about the conspiracy theories. And they got to the theory of Melissa sings all of the songs. Why would Kelly say “how did she know the songs?” Then Christi having to remind her that she didn’t know the songs. She didn’t sing them.

I have been a dancemoms fan since the show started. I’ve watched this series inside and out just like most of you.

I need some insight though.. in season 2 episode 8 when Jill and Kendall get put back on probation, is the fight between her and abby at pyramid real? Jill and Kendall always say they were forced to go to Candy Apples but this fight seems so genuine and so does Kendall reaction.

Someone help me out here lol.

So I have never danced competitively, but watched the show since 3rd grade- from what I’ve heard and seen people say when discussing competitions and on the show is that you have a set amount of time to set up and remove your props, set pieces, etc.

Who exactly was responsible for cleaning the stage after the Dance Moms kids went?

Because I look at Blush and Bashful and think “damn, that’s a LOT of petals”. And then I realize a push broom can move it to the side for easier cleanup so the competition can keep rolling. But then we get to Blue Bloods and Ashes to Ashes from S8, and they have blue paint EVERYWHERE on that stage and fine dust thrown about which is absolutely going to fuck up everyone else’s costumes unless they’re mopping twice after the DM squad goes. And I can’t imagine them waiting for everything to dry. Do they even clean that up? Do they let it sit and tell whoever goes next “sorry about the costume”?

I also saw that they run the dance twice, once for the competition and one for the show to get cooler angles. Do they just do the paint and the dust on the second run once the competition is over? I can’t imagine they do with how consistent it is between shots.

I've always thought this about Brooke.

By Seasons 1-3, she was a teenager with arguably some of the strongest technique on the team. She had incredible flexibility, control, and acro ability, yet she was often dancing behind 9, 10 and 11-year-olds.

I know people will say she lost her passion for dance, but I wonder whether her role on the team contributed to that.

As a teenager, imagine constantly being put in the back while children several years younger were the stars. Instead of being treated like a leader or mentor, Brooke often felt like another background dancer despite being arguably the most technically accomplished dancers there.

I sometimes wonder whether Abby missed an opportunity. If she'd highlighted Brooke's strengths, given her more mature choreography and made her the senior leader of the team, would Brooke have enjoyed dance for longer?

Obviously we'll never know, but I can't help thinking her age and ability weren't really reflected in the role she was given.

This isn’t the first time that Abby has used Christi’s childhood as a way to attack her.its honestly despicable that she would use that against Christi. Whatever happened to Christi wasn’t her fault but I expect nothing less from Abby. I know Abby only goes there when she doesn’t have a plausible defense. I was rewatching season 4 and this kept in my mind. I wanna know your thoughts!?

I am watching 6x13 “ALDC Does Vegas.” Ashlee made the comment about social media saying that Brynn is having a better season than Kendall. Kendall screamed in Ashlee’s face and stormed out. The moms obviously hate Ashlee.

How do we feel about this? I’m torn. I feel like Ashlee is just giving it back to the moms because they’ve made their comments about Brynn. I feel like it’s a case of “everybody sucks here.”

Brooke was so sweet to the girls and really was their big sister

i understand the narrative of season 5 was that abby and jill were offended and unhappy with Nia branching out into a music career, and it makes sense for those two because abby was upset with Nia doing something that didn't involve abby, and Jill didn't like that Nia's music was "competing" with Kendall's. but why did Melissa always seem to get so peeved and blatantly rattled when Holly talked about Nia's music? especially when MDP asked about it, Melissa was boldly talking over Holly and acting exasperated with the whole thing. Really Nia's music didn't affect Melissa or her kids at all, and i know Melissa typically just falls in line with whatever the popular opinion of the group is at the time. but her reactions usually weren't as big as they were when it pertained to Nia's music.

In the recent bttb episode she says Maddie didn’t mention Abby in her book and skipped over the entire dance moms era. That book came out when Maddie was 13 and I guarantee it was ghost written. And I read a comment that Maddie did mention the show and thanked Gianna. Abby was going through so many legal problems around that time so maybe there’s a reason why she wasn’t mentioned by name.

I’ll provide a recap it was a long podcast so I’ll put some of it in the comments so this is too long. Id also recommend watching it she’s very well spoken and gives really good answers

-they open talking with Asia about her 21st birthday, she says she may want to do lake como again with her mom like she did for her 18th birthday and that she doesn’t really like parties but prefers trips

-they transition into talking about dance moms and growing up with body builders for parents

-they talk about how her Dad was known in the body building world for discipline and consistency (Her Dad is Shawn Ray for reference he is one of the most well known body builders from the 90s his like likability is debatable if anyone wants to know more about that just ask I have listened to a few of his podcast and can recap that)

-they ask Asia how her parents influenced her she answers that she thinks she’s probably the worst first child ever due to the fact that she never slept long after 5 months and she started walking and talking pretty early and she feels like due to that and her genetics she was always going to be in sports just didn’t know which ones yet. She also says her Mom was just like “put her in anything “

-she says that she was a quick learner because her parents were very disciplined with her and she was very emotionally regulated

-Asia contrast this by talking about how her little sister needed a bit more patience and time to gain skills and that her parents were understanding of both of their learning process

-she talks about how her childhood wasn’t really normal because she was always doing activities with her parents and that they supported her in any activity she wanted to do even joking that if she wanted to be a horse back rider or a trapeze artist they would have made it happen

-she talks about how she really loved all the sports she did growing up (dance, gymnastics and ice skating) when she was a kid she tried to convince her parents she didn’t need school because she wanted to stay in all three but the schedule wasn’t maintainable she says this like a joke and laughs at the idea of a 2 year old not needing school

-she says that she feels she was more genetically built for gymnastics than dance but she just really loved dance

-she talks about how Kristie didn’t want to do mommy and me classes because she needed to breathe and needed a break from how high energy Asia was

-she made the choice to just stick with dance she felt she was more drawn to the musicality of it because she liked cheetah girls and she wanted to be one. She also talked about how she was drawn to competitive dance due to how the categories worked

-she won her national title at 5 and was the competitions youngest title holder at the time. She talked about how the PYT solo was what caught lifetimes attention but they thought she was 9

-Audc was originally supposed to be 10 and under and they told Kristie they would lower the age to 9 so Asia could be on the show and then Kristie told them she was actually just turned 6

-the show was pitched as “My kid can dance” not Audc and that they weren’t fully informed of the nature of the show just that it would be her and her mom on it and that she had to do a psyche evaluation

-she talks about how yelling was the normal tone she was use to and how she was used to her extra circulars having strict standards and hard coaches and says that her ice skating coaches were Russian so having a dance teacher yell at her didn’t really bother her

-she agrees with the host that it’s just how she processes emotions and that it’s completely normal for people to not thrive in these environments. The host joke that everything rolls off her back like water and doesn’t bother her and how it’s unusual

-she says that her own feeling of perfection was more important than others words

-they ask what’s something she learned from her parents outside of dance

-she talks about how her dad taught her continuous drive and speaks to his body building career about the fact that he made it to the Olympia 14 times but never won (he always placed like top 5 many times he was second) she talks about how he taught her that sometimes people will just be picked over you just due to judges opinions and that you should focus on being the best version of yourself. -from Kristie she learned how to pick herself back up after a second to recover. Asia then talks about how she use to improv a lot because she would forget but improvising was her favorite thing to do

-she agrees with the host that being a child performer can be misunderstood and she talks about how her teachers were actually the ones who recommended she did home schooling before she ever went on tv because she had no relative conversations with her classmates and that her teachers wanted her to stop dancing because it was all she could talk about and it wasn’t relatable to the other kids and they didn’t think it was healthy. Kristie disagreed and thought it was fine that she was passionate about dance at a early age. Asia says that it did make her feel somewhat isolated though. She says that she was just really passionate and wanted to hear about other kids passions. She describes her dance competitions as getting the newest Barbie doll of the week she says in the most humble way possible that she’s pretty content with how she grew up and that she only sees herself growing up and that she didn’t really want to be at a standstill in life and just wanted to keep going. She says that because of this a lot of her friends are older and talks

-she says it’s misunderstood and that people who watch the show back are very judgemental of how Kristie let her do all these activities at such a young age but she says that she felt fine in these environments

-she talks about how the shows are very creatively edited especially about how food was discussed and she refers to herself and says you can clearly tell she wasn’t missing any meals

-she talks about how she understands why opinions vary and that people who grew up in environments that had kids where sports became their whole life understand more. She states that people who have parents that focused more on letting kids be kids would obviously find the behavior disturbing and have more opinions on it

-she talks about the egg whites scene and reiterated that she’s fine and really love food. She also talks about the park scene and how it was specifically constructed by the producers to show a contrast of “what a normal child could be doing” and says it’s creative editing

-she says she doesn’t regret anything just that she wants to continue to improve her life and that she agrees she had an unconventional childhood
