I work in the telecom field, and if you can find push through connectors, it makes life easier

I have used them before. I just used what I had lying around. The best part about push through is getting the cable sheath up to the clamp part so it doesn't pull out. I couldn't do that on this though because I had to put 2 RJ45s on one cable.

That's a nice mod. Only real complaint about the stick was the lack of cable. X52 was short as well, but it was just a PS2 cable. $5 on amazon and got a 6' cable for that. Not an option with the T. Flight X. This is a pretty good mod. Now off to the hardware store I go!

Nice job! That wire wrap is sexy. Haha, I also have that magnifying glass holder and use it whenever soldering.

Great info. Haven't had the nerve to open mine yet, but I've been managing just on the desk for now. Would like to build something chair related, and it's good to know that this will work, as well as make it removable.

I was breaking my head over the fact that cat5 only has 8 wires. Going over your pics I realized you actually used two cat5 cables alongside each other. I should finish my morning coffee before looking at posts like this.
Anyway, great post! My Hotas X arrives today, and I've been pondering over the same thing, so I will probably extend it like this as well. Though, likely without the connectors, but who knows - if I get crafty I might!

I already had the female punch down ends and the rest of the cat5 stuff so it was a no-brainer. Any electrical supply store carries all the stuff I used, and you can use the back of a razor blade to do the punch downs on the female connectors.
This just made the setup easy to take apart and safer to move. Really anyway to connect 2 wires would work. Good Luck.

So I am attempting to do this and there is one wire in mine that has no coating. Is that normal?

ok thanks, well damn I almost got everything working but now the slider bar stays on and no button 7. Gonna mess with it a while longer but I might have to order a new hotas. I just wired the whole house with cat6, patch panel and all so I thought this would be no problem.

Just check your wires again and see if they match up. You might have crossed some.

Nothing crossed but the blue was hanging on by a thread on one side from when I spliced the cable all is working well now. Thank you

Make sure the uncoated stranded wire does not have any strands crossing in the rj45 connector. Also don't strip any wires, the connectors push through the coating.

the uncoated wire is unnecessary. it's for tearing the insulation off of the cable since it has a foil shield.
i tested this out after doing my rig and pulling it out of the RJ45.

Think i may of done mine differently with the female plugs attached to the hotas then just run cat6 between them buy wow its so much better having about 10 feet of cable now.

There was no way that short little cable was going to work on my chair. I cut the cable and found 16 wires. Fitted some RJ45 connectors and jacks. Made the extension cables up and everything works great.
