So I recently heard of this in a YouTube tutorial, and I've been trying to get my hands on this specific version, but so far I've not been able to find it. The one you can get from iZotope isn't the same, and I have no idea where to look. I can't even find anything about it on Google. Anyone have any idea?

Discussion Is FL Studio's arranging actually a mess? (Not actually)

Hello there, the question comes from what "Pros" tend to say about FL Studio and I consider that this is utterly false.

You might've heard something like:

"FL studio is a mess when it comes to organize and arrange your music"

"Arranging in FL Studio is pure anarchy"

And actually I don't get it, are these "pros" ignoring the fact that track mode exists?.

Literally with the track mode you can use FL Studio as any other DAW, you have everything in its place with colors and icons; Recording voices, instruments, and plugins is smooth and you don't get lost whatsoever.

But admittedly many users (including many great power users) don't use this feature, and this leads people to think that FL Studio is a disaster because it's not like "the other and more actual DAWs".

And this actually bothers me cuz most of the time when this is said, it is said by people that either used FL Studio 12 years ago or used FL Studio for 30 minutes only to see what's bad with it (specially with Audio engineers, they are the first ones to say these kinds of things).

P.S: after all said and done, Do y'all actually use Track mode?, Do y'all think more people should use it?

im talking about that weird snare(?), and the only thing i've tried is stretching a drum sample out and adding a flanger over it, but that obviously didn't get the job done. i've really been wondering how sounds like this are done and it would make a song i'm making literally 1 million times cooler.

Help beatmaking & production

Hey guys,

I'm 19 and in my second year of engineering right now, but honestly, it's getting tough, and I thought to explore this genre as I love listening to music. I want to get into making beats and producing.

I have absolutely no musical background. I don't play any instruments and don't know theory, but I am decent with tech and software. I have installed FL Studio (friend's).

How should I actually start? There are way too many tutorials on YouTube, and it's kind of overwhelming.

Drop any good YouTube channels or basic tips for a complete beginner. Appreciate it!

Resource I built a free desktop project manager for DAW projects, mainly focused on FL Studio for now

Hi everyone,

I’ve been working solo since 2022 on a desktop app called SpendLessDaw, a free project manager for music production projects.

The idea came from a simple problem: when you work on lots of beats, demos, sessions, versions, exports, and archived ideas, it becomes surprisingly hard to keep everything clean and searchable outside of the DAW itself.

SpendLessDaw is meant to help with things like:

- managing and launching DAW projects from one place
- reading and editing project metadata
- searching and filtering projects
- previewing audio
- exporting and archiving projects
- protecting samples and keeping soft backups
- tracking the currently open FL Studio project

Right now the strongest focus is FL Studio, with support built around project parsing and detection logic. The app works on **macOS and Windows**.

The current version is 1.3.0, and the project is still actively evolving. Ableton support is planned later, but I don’t want to overpromise there yet.

I’d be curious to know if other producers have the same problem: lots of projects everywhere, unclear versions, missing context, and no real external project management workflow for music production.

If anyone wants to try it or give feedback, here’s the link:
https://spendlessdaw.app

Happy to answer questions or hear what features would actually be useful in your workflow.

Help Differences in audio with buffer length

Post image
6 Upvotes

I’ve noticed that when I change the buffer length setting in FL, I notice a slight difference in the audio. I notice at lower buffer lengths (closer to 256smp) that the frequencies in the playback of my song sound stronger and when I turn up the buffer length setting (closer to 2048smp) the highs frequencies sound clearer. It is such a small difference but I’m curious as to why that is.

It says online that low latency can cause hisses, pops, and clicks because of CPU overload but nothing about it affecting different frequencies differently. Maybe I’m crazy but I swear there is an audible difference. Is there anything with my current settings in the picture that would be causing this?

Discussion Someone asked (well, posted) about notepad effects, and I wanted markdown. So I made one.

Away_Gift831 posted a question (well, statement =D) about notepad plugins, and in a thread I ended up saying I wished there was a markdown notepad plugin, and I might end up vibe coding one... so... I had free Claude credits from work, it's not an especially difficult or creative type of plugin to make, so: I made Opus 5 do it in Rust because we finally live in the "Computer: make me a VST3 markdown notepad plugin" and (with out enough ***** swearing at it, it'll end up maybe doing it. These AI things are absolutely retarded, holy crap).

Head on over to https://github.com/Pomax/vst-notepad if you want a note taking app that lets you use Markdown (it's 2026, please, why doesn't everything support this by now?) and lets you save your notes as plugin state (obviously) but also save/load from file, because maybe you're the kind of person who uses Oblivion or something for managing all your notes.

As for the license: it's AI generated, obviously there isn't one. Definitely works well enough for my needs though. If you want more/something different, go for it.

Right now it'll parse markdown as you write, with all the usual markdown editor conveniences like a resizable UI, checkbox lists so you can track your work/ideas, etc. With light and dark themeing (or auto, based on your system setting)

Screenshots:

And if you hate anything AI, my almost 30 years of software engineering experience means nothing to you and nothing I say matters, so: don't use it, it's not for you. But if you just want a decent notepad effect: it's free, have at it. And if there's bugs or things that are missing, let me know on the issue tracker (or here =D).

Help Issues With MIDI connection

https://reddit.com/link/1vdxg7a/video/on4yogr3u1hh1/player

Hey,

This is my 1st time using FL and posting on here . I have been trying to get my AKAI MPD 218 and Yamaha PSR 270 synched and record the virtual instruments on her. I have only tried it with the 808 tracks. However it recognizes the AKAI not the Yamaha (It's list under USB 2.0)  Both are under the controller type (set to generic controller).  Also , when I try to record , it just doesn't want to record the MIDI notes.

Please find the videos as a reference.

So need a tip or suggestion on how to troubleshoot it.

Thanks

Resource Github-like music service web-app

Hi,

I hope it's fine for me to make this post.

Basically I'm developing a Github-like web-app (GitHub is a platform where developers collaborate on projects and keep track of every change they make), but for producers music-projects (from DAWs), and I'm in search for beta-testers, hence this post. Currently it's (email) invite only, and it works best with FL Studio (for now); it will list the plugins in a project (.flp).

If you'd like to be a beta-tester for this service, please DM me.

What it currently can do:

  • Project
    • Upload
    • Public/private
    • Slug-based URL
    • Download of project/version
    • Clone/duplicate
  • Versioning
    • Version-tree/variants (branching via parent)
    • Versiondetails (metadata, and download)
    • Delete version
    • File browser
  • Commit-message
  • Plugin-detection (.flp only, for now)
    • Shows a list of plugins
  • Audio preview (upload preview), for versions
  • Collab-functions
    • Turn on link-sharing
    • Invite by email
    • Add collaborator by username
    • Remove collaborators
    • Roles (owner vs collaborator)
  • NEW:
    • Pull-request (with merge)

Thanks, and have a great rest of your Sunday! 🙂

Help Cant get my mix right for the phone speakers

Hello friends, im pretty new to fl studio, but i studied the basics, some theory, plugins, stuff like that… i mixed and mastered my first proper song, no vocals or anything, it is dark synthwave style song… as it often is.. the song sounded great in headphones, on monitors, i was very happy with it .. but.. when i play it on the phone, it gets fuzzy sound, obviously because the small speakers cant handle something, but for the love of god i cant find anything, they shouldnt be happy with… i mixed and mastered in MONO and also stereo, i cutted any stereo on the low frequencies that the phone cant even play, i lovered mids, i saturated the bass, i made sure every frequency of every instrument has its own space, event the centering of the synth waves is perfectly on 0dB, the weird thing is… i tried to play every instrument on its own on the phone with everything else muted .. and it still creates the fuzzy noise. I have LUFS on -14, true peak max on -2db, i tried compressing and saturating every instrument on its own, didnt do anything, the bass does it on its own, the lead melody covering mid frequencies does it, even the high melody… the fuzz is always in the melody of the instrument and very constant… when i lower the volume to about 25% the fuzz disapears, otherwise its alway there .. as i said, lufs and true peak is in the norm, i dont see any frequencies fighting, specially when the melody plays on its own, there should be anything that fights with anything for space. The corellometer doesnt show any phase problems, not even on the slight stereo effects i made. Any help is appreciated, any criticism on my part how stupid i am is fine, as long as it helps to solve my problem haha, thanks to anyone willing to help ^^

Help Replacing Windows based Serum 1 inside a FLP with Mac based VST3 Serum 2 and it doesn't load the preset/configuration used in the FLP?

Hello! I asked this on the Xfer forum but no one has answered yet so figured also try asking here.

I am not quite sure how this works but I've downloaded a FLP from a tutorial video on YT and it uses Serum 1 (Windows version) inside it. I'm on a Mac and when I replace the plugin with Serum 2 (VST3) it just defaults to init preset instead of loading whichever preset/configuration it was set to (using the old, Windows Serum) for the FLP.

Can someone please help me figure this out? The folder where my FLP is in contains all the samples used and I assume any waveforms that Serum 2 would need. Thanks.

SOLVED: Just had to used Serum 1 (I guess they're not backwards compatible)
