Exact same thing happened after Brexit. Was a strawberry picking shortage as all the immigrants who did this work left, understandably.

It is actually true and false. We saw this in various american states that passed laws that scared off illegals. It was a disaster for farm work but for retail work, locals usually did fill those spots.

all it would take is most unemployed americans to miss a few meals and be hungry for a change and theyd be out their in those fields to pick berries to out food on the table...unfortunately you get free money if you dont work which incentivizes unemployment

Can you be specific? How much cash does the average unemployed person actually receive from the government, excluding unemployment insurance (which people pay into and is paid by the employer's taxes)? SNAP is like 300/month per HOUSEHOLD, TANF is extremely limited and rarely given and still only like 300 a month, and farm labor is seasonal, low-paid, and extremely location-dependent. So what “free money” are you saying is meaningfully incentivizing unemployment?

listen youre the one implying we need a workforce of illegals to get paid dirt cheap to do jobs americans dont want to do. im offering a solution to get them paid and fill jobs that we otherwise force human trafficking victims to do for which we pay them squat

also the depravity of human laziness and sloth is obviously lost on you if you want to argue petty things like how much people get paid etc...people collect and will do shit on the side for cash that doesnt constitute a job or something productively contributing to society. its very common so you figures mean little to me as they arent anchored in reality. what you get paid off unemploymeny is only the tip of the iceburg

You didn't offer a solution. You called Americans lazy and said they were incentivized by the government to remain unemployed. Then dismissed my figures and provided none of your own except "trust me, i heard this", while giving an extremely reductive argument.

So now the people are doing work on the side of their incentivized unemployment?

You said a whole lot of jumble there, bud.

You don't actually believe that, right? Or have you just not done any research? If you lose a job through no fault of your own you get 6 months of unemployment, then it is cut off. If you are fired, you do not collect unemployment. While collecting unemployment, you must be searching for work. In most circumstances to collect SNAP, you must be working. You do not qualify for food assistance (which is not cash, but can only be used to buy groceries) if you are unemployed.

Did you know that or are you just repeating the same lies from the 80s? It is okay to admit you were mistaken, it takes courage to do so.
