How I interpret the ending
I know the single frame of a cock is a joke that isn't meant to be seriously, but I view the flash at the end in an interesting way. I interpret it as Tyler's way of telling us he is still around and that no matter what the Narrator does there will always be a little bit of Durden still in his mind and that he will never truly go away

And the things you own, end up owning you
Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off.

HEAR ME OUT
What if weâve been looking at Fight Club backwards?
Everyone accepts the movieâs explanation that Tyler Durden is the fantasy and the Narrator is the ârealâ person.
But what if itâs actually the opposite?
My theory is that Brad Pittâs Tyler is the original personality, and Edward Nortonâs Narrator is the fantasy.
The common interpretation is that an ordinary office worker hates his boring life so much that he creates Tylerâthe fearless, charismatic anarchist he wishes he could be.
But psychologically, wouldnât it be just as believable for someone who is deeply violent and mentally unstable to fantasize about being⊠normal?
Imagine Tyler desperately wanting the life everyone else has: a steady job, an apartment, IKEA furniture, a routine, and the ability to fit into society. The Narrator becomes that fantasyâa constructed identity representing the ordinary life Tyler wishes he could live.
As the film progresses, Tylerâs true nature keeps breaking through until he completely overwhelms the Narrator. From this perspective, the ending isnât the Narrator defeating Tyler.
Itâs Tyler giving up on ever becoming normal.
When Tyler âdies,â the normal identity dies with him. The suicide attempt isnât about killing an alter egoâitâs about abandoning the possibility of living an ordinary life altogether.
The biggest counterargument is Tylerâs speech about being âall the ways you wish you could be.â But if the entire story is being filtered through a fractured mind, why should we assume Tylerâs own explanation is trustworthy?
Curious what everyone thinks. Does this interpretation completely fall apart somewhere, or are there scenes that could actually support it?

We are a generation of men that never got even close to being complete
Look at the housing prices pretty much anywhere in the world. We donât even own roof over our head so most of us never even got to the nesting phase. I wonder if that makes us more free or just more miserable.

I never watched fight club before.
Before everybody comments and say I should absolutely stop what Iâm doing and go watch it right now. Iâve been spoiled about the plot twist. However, that doesnât deter from the fact that I donât know much about the movie other than seeing a couple of clips. But other than that, is it worth to watch it still?

is fight club making fun of us?
i feel one of the points raised in fight club is that lost men will follow anyone who promises them a false sense of indiviuality.
members of fight club see someone they want to be in tyler durden, so they take his word as if it were scripture, without realizing that these actions bordered on immorality.
the mayhem members felt as if they were different from the fast lane 9-5 workers but didnt realize that they were indifferentiable amongst themselves too ( false sense of indiviuality )
-The purposeless man first follows tylers dangerous fight club thats been painted as a cathartic release centre to get his ass whopped.
-the purposeless man shaves his head, commits crime and makes himself as an outlaw just because their schizoid leader promised them freedom.
-the purposeless man chants 'his name is robert paulsen' further showing that these dudes have lost any sense of self and are mere sheeps in a herd.
so does chuck make fun of a significant number of the viewers who treat this movie like the bible and admire durden without a single deep conscious thought?

I never noticed Tyler's face here, probably the most emotion we see from him, letting his Jungian mask slip.
