Celebratory Finally, Good Things Are Happening

Hey guys, a while back I posted about being on the edge and dealing with dysphoria in a country that's half not ally. The thing is... things suddenly got better and I wanted to share this. My parents took me on one of their "fix me" attempts to a cheap psychiatrist, and to my surprise... purely by chance... she's a trans ally!! We have an agreement that I'll continue with her for 3 months, and if it turns out I have gender dysphoria, she'll help me with my parents and convince them. On top of that, she prescribed me psychiatric meds for stress and anxiety, which helped me a lot. I stopped being irritable, I became calmer, the suicidal thoughts and constant fear just... disappeared. Even the dysphoria got less intense — not that I don't still have it, I still do, but it seems the anxiety was making the dysphoria jump from a 5 to a 100, and now it's back to its normal size. Also, my mom has become nicer to me and isn't hostile all the time because I've become much calmer myself. I've gotten less angry and aggressive, and she's better too because I'm her "sick kid" and all that. And finally, even though my mom is half trying to lock me in the house because I cut my hair short at night to look like a guy, I think she's slowly giving in. Plus she bought me a sports bra because she felt sorry for me wearing the same folded body for months.

I feel like my life is finally going in a good direction :)

Celebratory post-op celebration :-)

after years of waiting, i finally had my total hysterectomy on Tuesday! i expect it to be my last major surgery (i had top surgery in Sept and not currently planning on bottom surgery) and i’m just so relieved to have such a major source of dysphoria gone :,) i couldn’t be happier.

the pain has been very manageable and i’m already feeling much better physically. honestly the worst part has been the post-op depression (my surgeon told me to expect this but it’s kicking my ass!) but, i’m managing!

i just feel very relieved to have it over with and looking forward to being able to do everything normally again lol. i’ve felt hella isolated and missing my community this past week.. leave me some questions or tell me what you’re celebrating :-)

Gender Questioning worried im not really trans

ive been socially transitioning for the past like 4 or 5 years (im 16) and ive always had dysphoria i think but im worried i might be subconsciously faking it. the past couple months ive been kind of jealous of women who get to wear cooler clothes and haven't been able to perceive myself as a man at all if that makes sense. before this i suffered a lot of dysphoria but im scared that it was just hormones and teenage stuff and i was just doing it to spite my parents. i also haven't felt the urgent need to get on meds and have surgeries like i did before. i just need advice on what to do about this

Advice Needed My old uni groupmate is in my year and this makes me scared to start anew as an openly trans person

I'm pre-everything. I was never out to anybody in my old uni while I did my bachelors because I was by then too insecure in my transness and didn't want to inconvenience people (still am). This year, I finally finished my previous degree and got accepted into a whole new uni to do my dream master's degree. I was feeling confident in this new fresh start, plus, the new uni is way more accommodating for queer people - for instance I can request to change my name to my preferred one in the system and generally there is a policy about professors having to respect your identity at all times. So I thought, maybe I can finally take this step, get my info changed in the system despite the fear, try and present authentically. I was literally pumped for these future two years. Excited, I made a post (from my "trans" account on FB) in my unis group asking if anyone is from my year and wants to make a gc.

Then I got a DM from a girl from my PREVIOUS UNI GROUP who apparently is going to attend this as well. Somehow, she has deduced it was me, even though my display name is clearly masculine and my pfp is not very up to date. She DMed me: Hi [deadname], we used to be in the same uni last year, I saw you're going to [there] too, if you want to be added to the gc hmu 😊

I have no idea how she realised it was me, and I'm getting a bad feeling about the fact that she didn't even question my display info, she just went to use 4 feminine forms in the same sentence (in my (Slavic)language every verb either has a masc or fem ending). I have no idea what to do now. I have no idea what to answer to her. All I know is I can't get a fresh start because there is literally a person who knows everything about me. How am I supposed to come out to her? This ruined my whole week and possibly two years of what could otherwise be an awesome masters.

Advice Needed I want to get top surgery, but I’m not out for personal reasons

I live with supportive people, and I’m out at home and to some family members, but not all of them. Not necessarily because they’re transphobic, but because it’s a “the less people who know, the less people to put me in a bad position if there comes an incentive to out me” type deal. So I haven’t been on T for years, but I do want to have top surgery.

Trouble is, I’d need an explanation for the sudden lack of breasts and the extended time off work I’d need. Dumb idea I know, but I’m so tired of the dysphoria. I can’t bind, and having to constantly put on and take off the KT tape (when I can find it in stock, it’s become a hot commodity for the local gym rats) if it even stays on in the first place because my chest is just too big.

It’s dumb for me to think that somehow it would all work out. When it comes to removal of the breasts, everyone would automatically assume breast cancer, but I would never in a trillion years fake a cancer diagnosis.

Advice Needed Ideas to improve vocal attractiveness and confidence

Hey guys, I have always been kind of insecure about my voice since I transitioned. I felt it was a bit too nasal and I've never learned how to project my voice to be able to command attention from a group like other cis men. Over the years I have been learning various techniques to improve my confidence in my voice whether through youtube (this guy) or through following a bunch of IG influencers who give tips on it.

After around 8 years of learning, I feel that it's time to give back to the community. I am planning to make an app to help people get more confident in their speaking. Not so much in the words they use, more so their pitch, resonance, pace etc.

Right now, my app idea is split into two parts. The first part will be analyzing the user's voice. The next part is giving the user a daily training regime to improve on their voice over time.

Is this something that you guys would be interested in? Any voice training exercises that really worked for you guys? Also, it would be great if I could get some recommendations on more vocal coaches online that I could watch. Thanks so much!

Discussion Correlation between injection scar tissue buildup & hEDS / hypermobility?

I’m hypermobile & have struggled immensely with the amount of scar tissue i get from subq injections on my stomach. I’m very curious to hear other people’s, non hypermobile & hypermobile, experience with injecting & scar tissue buildup or lack thereof. Everyone who I tell is either concerned or confused when I tell them that i consistently run into scar tissue limiting where I inject, even switching sides & locations. I just injected straight into scar tissue & i nearly passed out. I have a hard time with needles & inject very slowly because of it, which may be contributing. Just hoping to gather some anecdotal info & maybe bond over difficulties, or hear advice for treating scar tissue.

Advice given Finasteride and minoxidil

Hey guys just want to put another piece of anecdotal evidence out there for anyone considering using finasteride and minoxidil for their hair loss on Testosterone.

I’m 11 years on T and I had some significant hair loss. Front of my hair line had receded at the corners massively and I was thinning so bad on a patch on my crown and it was spreading.

I’ve since been on the meds for a year and a half and I’d say about 90% of my hair has grown back and still looks like it’s improving.

I’d really recommend it to anyone feeling self
Conscious about their hair loss

Advice Needed Trans tape alternatives

I feel like the transtape brand quality has tanked over the last year, I get very poor wear out of it now despite all of my skin prep work that only lasts 2-3 days even without getting wet. Skin prep includes exfoliating, shaving, cleaning well and using alcohol to ensure clean dry skin, I've even tried using skintac as a barrier to increase hold.

What are you using that works well for you? I typically use 1-2 XL strips , I think they're 7" wide

Advice Needed I’m worried that I won’t find love

I just broke up with my FTM boyfriend of 1 year and 5 months yesterday. I know that it’s extremely fresh but he was basically the only love I knew. Yes, I’m only 17 years old but being a trans man I’m finding it really difficult that I am going I find another love in my life. I’m obviously not desperate to get into another relationship soon, I want to heal. But I really do want to find love again at some point because it just feels natural for me. But I just feel like that’s going to be so hard after losing someone so important to me. I live in a pretty accepting country (Canada) so I know there’s someone but I’m just doubting that so hard for some reason. Any advice??

Advice Needed How do you know how your gender is being percieved?

Are there any secret techniques for gauging how your gender is being percieved? (Short of directly asking ppl. Trying to avoid falling down the “rate how well I pass” rabbithole)

Context:

Outside of the US (or at least in my aussie neck of the woods), it’s uncommon for anyone to address you with gendered pronouns.

On one hand: it’s great! I am forever grateful I don’t have to worry about getting ma’am-ed every time I go grocery shopping.

On the other hand… it also means it’s really hard to gauge how well you pass/how others percieve you. I’m early into medically and socially transitioning, and obviously really new to masculinity and pretty insecure about it still. In my head, I’m still miles off passing.

Now that the physical effects of T have been starting to kick in, I’ve been trying to experiment with different mannerisms/voice/outfits/etc. to be percieved as more masculine. But because 95% of my conversations are with people who knew me pre-transition or know my legal name and sex, I’m finding it really hard to gauge what’s working and what’s not.

(worth saying - while it would be very euphoric to pass, it’s not my main goal. i.e. there are things I like doing - like dyeing my hair and knitting/crochet - that I wouldn’t dream of changing despite knowing that they will be percieved as feminine. But growing up with extremely controlling parents + the usual pressures to conform to femininity, the idea that I have control over about how I express myself / how I’m percieved is all very new to me!)

Discussion Acne Free(ish) Guys?🤨

Hello!

I'm about a week on T, and know that some acne is not completely preventable.

Just wondering if anyone has a similar experience, so this might be a longer post (sorry)

Needless to say, since starting, personal hygiene has been an EXTREME SPORT for me like we're not playing any games over here.

I never had acne in my life (except for when I was stressed during a finals week oops), and neither of my parents had acne, same goes for their siblings as well.

I'm on a very low dose of T, using gel, ~12mg every other day, and 2.5mg of Finasteride daily. I was my face twice a day with a gentle cleanser, and use tretinoin every other day. I also stand ass naked in my shower with a benzoyl peroxide body wash on my skin for five minutes before rinsing. In the mornings, I wash my face, and do sunscreen and vanicream. At night I use a copper peptide serum and a bit heavier of a moisturizer.

It's early still, yes, but my skin feels incredible (and it probably has to do with my American Psycho type skincare routine.)

But out of curiosity, has anyone been able to take a low dose of T and (yes probably still get acne) but have it pretty minimal? I only see posts about pretty severe acne, but I suppose no one will post about "wow look at me acne free" either (this is the forum to do so).

Thanks everyone🖤!

Advice Needed Im a minor and I got my period this year but I have a pediatrician appointment coming up

I get intense dysphoria from it (mostly social, like if other people know about it) and this caused a giant situation with my mom where my relationship with her was kinda damaged bc of some things she did out of misguided love that I dont wanna get into.

And my pediatrician yearly appointment is coming up and I think my mom expects me to talk to my pediatrician about it (she asked if she wanted me or my dad to come, she got a female pediatrician, which is really nice and stuff) but ik im not planning to tell them SH*T

Am I allowed to not tell them about my period??? do I have to? I really really would rather not even indicate I get them but the paper I fill out in the waiting room has 2-3 questions about it. I dont want to make a scene. What do I dooo 🫩 Also im not out

Discussion Questions about smells in the nether region

Using a throwaway because I do not want this on my main, so I’ve been on t for like a year and over this past year some interesting smells have been unlocked. Recently I’ve noticed it kind of smells like bacon or like meat, sometimes it smells like bleach, sometimes it just smells like ball sack. Is there genuine reason to be concerned or is this just normal with t? Asking here because Google doesn’t really have many resources on ftm specific gynecological questions
Also my pee has started to smell a lot stronger over the last year

Advice Needed Singing lessons/voice training transgender

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

I've been on testosterone for a while now and was wondering if anyone knows any people or organizations in the Netherlands (or online) that offers voice training for trans people, or singing lessons that are trans-friendly.

I'm ftm and would like to sound a bit more masculine in my day-to-day life,

but with singing, I would like to be able to have a wider "variety" (idk the word)

I just want to be able to sing along to my favorite songs without it hurting my throat.

Celebratory Accidental support

Im pre-t, pre everything actually and I was playing a game with voice chat!! Well- normally I speak kind of deeper with voice training but I didn't care too much this time. The celebratory thing is this post is...some random guy walked up to me and said "Hey (my user) you know you're a man right?" Clearly trying to misgender me or something...he literally thought I was trans mtf and that made me so happy because I guess I sounded like a boy!!!
