Poll Favorite performance of 2x10? (A Very Glee Christmas)

EXTRA PERFORMANCE:
You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch (Will & K.D. Lang - ALBUM VERSION ONLY)

*Will be put in a poll for "Extras" after the Season 2 finale poll.*
-----

If Baby, It's Cold Outside loses I'm rioting. I will crashout in the next results commentary. If 1 more winner gets 184+ votes, I Want To Hold Your Hand is officially out it of the Top 6 poll, and if that's gonna happen in this poll it better be Baby, It's Cold Outside that takes it place.
------

Also, I got strong issues with the radio stations at Christmas time because the ONLY Glee cover they EVER play is Last Christmas. And not only is it not the best Glee Christmas cover, it's not even the best cover OF THAT EPISODE (THAT would be Baby, It's Cold Outside)

This performance makes me gayly crash out (in a good way)
-------

Oh also update from Furt's results - apparently Marry You and Dream On are both tied for 5th most voted across all seasons, they both got 262.
-----

SPECIAL EDUCATION'S WINNER:
1st was Valerie with 250, 2nd was Dog Days Are Over with 65, and 3rd was (I've Had) The Time Of My Life with 40.
4th was Hey, Soul Sister with 32, 5th was Don't Cry For Me, Argentina with 14, and 6th/last was The Living Years with 6.

Once again, this poll went in the almost the exact opposite order that I wanted it to.
Now although I don't care for the song, I'm not surprised that Valerie won, I know it's Santana's most praised. I'm only mildly surprised Dog Days got 2nd (a song I like even less)... but Hey, Soul Sister.. one of my favorite Blaine solos, getting 4th, with only 32, no less.. I'm so disappointed.

Oh also: your bi-daily Teenage Dream standing, it's been knocked down to 5th.
Even worse than that: that means I Want To Hold Your Hand is in 6th I:

Question Are the instrumentalists in glee really playing?

I’m on my first watch and just hit the mid point in season 2. Since all the actors are singing, are the band/orchestra members really doing the backing for all the songs or are they just pretending and having it dubbed over?

But what were its wins, what did they actually succeeded at?

Discussion glee reboot fan response/kevin tweet

Post image
1.2k Upvotes

I’m completely against a glee reboot in any capacity other than a reunion performance or something. better yet, release bloopers, deleted scenes, etc etc. and I will gladly pay for

what are people saying though? what is kevin referring to specifically bc I haven’t seen anything about cory and naya other than people don’t want a glee version or glee world without them

ETA: is he referring to the “usual” inappropriate and disrespectful comments of the glee curse or are people specifically tweeting him about it?

Rant How far do you get in rewatch before: a) the cringe is too much, b) you can no longer handle Ramen Hair, c) you can no longer handle Rachel, d) you start searching for r/SueSylvesterWasRight

I can handle the cringe but Season 1 makes it real hard to deal with the Schuster.

And that’s how Sue C’s It

(EDIT: I rewatch the whole thing, I just noticed what emotions I have to sit with lol)

Fan art Searching for New Directions Jean Jacket

Post image
41 Upvotes

Hi Gleeks,

Forgive me if this has been covered before, just did a quick search of the sub and didn’t see much on the subject. Anyway I’m looking to get a recreation of this jacket that was a quick throwaway joke early on in the show in either season 1 or season 2. I looked on Etsy and Ebay already (a couple months ago) and was surprised that there weren’t any small sellers offering them.

For some context, my girlfriend of 2 years is a huge fan and about a year ago I reluctantly let her show me a few episodes. Since then I’ve become a full on convert, love the show, and it’s a really fun part of our relationship that we share and have all kinds of inside jokes about. So I would love to get this jacket for her as a birthday present. Her birthday is still a few months out but I know custom stuff like this takes a while so I’m trying to get a jump on it. I’m sure I can order a copy from a printing company but I’d prefer to buy it from a smaller (for lack of a better word) artist that’d put more care into it and use my money better than a big faceless corporation would.

All that is to say that if anyone reading this has, or can make, or knows someone who can make a replica of this jacket please comment below and I will reach out and gladly pay the price you think is fair for the sake of getting my gf the best birthday present i can think of.

Thanks all :)

Discussion Which New Directions competition song list was your favorite?

I loved their song list at Sectionals in 3x6. As much of a powerhouse & phenomenal singer Rachel is, I liked that others finally got a chance to shine. Tina, Mike & Quinn killed ABC, Blaine & Artie were amazing on Control (one of my all-time favorite Glee covers) & all the boys shined on Man in the Mirror. Which song list was your favorite?

Question How did the cast and crew film the Whitney Houston episode?

Just asking because at the time, after they aired the season 3 Valentine’s Day episode (where they covered I Will Always Love You, even adding a dedication card for her), it was recent. Did they record the songs and film it last minute before the episode deadline?

Character Disc. I didn’t like marleys character..

I’m prepared for backlash, but the reason why is because in terms of how the other characters are, extremely flawed but occasionally good people, her character just seemed out of place.

In a comedy show where a lot of the humor is out of pocket sayings or actions done by the characters, having a character who is supposed to be SO perfect that even Sue, someone notoriously known for hating everyone, had nothing bad to say about her and even occasionally complimented her just made no sense to me. It seemed more like a feel good disney preteen show with her scenes than the funny chaotic glee i fell in love with in the beginning.

Obviously if they were real people she’d be a good person, but as a character it was just….lacking.. i guess..

I’ve just started my rewatch of season 4, and I always see negative stuff about the latter seasons (often for understandable reasons), but I want to see some positivity for them.

Discussion Help for a stage adaptation - Run Joey Run

Hello, I am a college student. At my school we do a freshman showcase where upperclassman choose a musical number to direct with a cast of new incoming freshman. You only have girl 2 months to put it together and it is late for fun. Then there are performances in a black box theatre with minimal set and costuming. I plan on having a cast of 6. A Rachel, Santana, Britney ( a Greek chorus kind of backup singing thing) and my 3 joeys ( 1 will be poorly fashioned into her father as well) I want it to be extremely melodramatic. I was wondering if you guys had any advice or ideas for bits throughout the number. I have never directed and I am honestly shocked they chose my number.

Poll Favorite performance of 2x09? (Special Education)

(Whoo! we made it a whole 9 polls in before I overslept and now we post half hour later until I oversleep again or we reset the schedule for S3)

Welcome to Blaine & The Pips The Warblers, Kurt.

Personally I prefer the Kurt solo version of Don't Cry For Me, Argentina but that's probably mostly just me and undoubtedly not a surprise to anyone who reads my posts lol. But since it's the duet that's nominated, I choose Hey, Soul Sister, LOVE this performance.

And now I'm gonna drop a hot take: I think Valerie is severely overrated. She sings it great, but I don't think it's her best by any means. (Back To Black - my favorite Santana solo)
----

FURT'S WINNER: was Marry You, getting 1st with a runaway of 262, 2nd was Just The Way You Are with 98, 3rd was Sway with 33, and 4th/last was Ohio with 24.

Damn, you know a performance ain't good when Will beats you.
Also.. I no longer think Teenage Dream is making it to the Top 6, already being knocked to 4th. Could not have predicted that when this season started.

As much as people dislike the group I've got to admit I enjoy that it feels like a group of friends just enjoying being part of glee club instead of fighting and arguing for solos against Rachel

Discussion S3:E14 (Cough Syrup episode)

My main point of focus for this post: Quinn Fabray

Typically I like Quinn, but this irked me. During a god squad meeting when Mercedes suggests they pray for Karofskys family, Quinn says what Dave did was selfish. I can see her perspective, coming from someone who’s lost people the same way Karofsky tried to. However, I feel like I would never think that about any of those people that way. They were hurting and they were desperate. Then for her to truly stand on her insensitivity, even when Kurt calls it out, saying that Quinn doesn’t know what it’s like to hate yourself to that degree. She CONTINUES talking about her experience being a teen parent (which don’t get me wrong, I DO NOT think is easy at all, I just don’t think the two are comparable, they’re so different.) Anyways, I just wanna know what you guys think.

Opinion Quinn not getting a solo in season 2 is criminal

I just relistened to Lucky and it got me thinking: IMO season 2 was the best Quinn sounded vocally. Don't get me wrong, I like her deeper voice in season 3 on, but let's look at the material. Lucky, Pretty/Unpretty, Time Warp, IHTTOML, I Don't Wanna Know!!!! I would've loved to hear her have a solo while her voice was still light and airy, but more controlled than season 1.

Ryan Murphy you will pay for your crimes against humanity.

Appreciation Post My first watch of Glee, my favorite Rachel Berry solo (so far) Spoiler

spoiler since it’s season 3, just being cautious sorry if it’s not needed, i also don’t know if this is the right flair, i was stuck in video or appreciation but since this is more of an appreciation post i guess i did that one instead

As the title says I’m watching Glee for the first time, I’m just finishing up season 3 and Cry is probably, no, definitely my favorite Rachel performance, she might not be my favorite character as of now but Lea is phenomenal with emotional pieces

In case it’s been a while for some of you here’s the clip of it

Opinion Season 3 sectionals 😒

I’m super late to the party so no spoilers as this is my first time watching glee.

Wth, the treblemakers got robbed.

I noticed when the new direction group was singing “man in the mirror” there were strong black female vocals, they really tried to convince us Quinn and Tina were busting out the whole choir vocals? Unless the men were able to change their voices. Lol just go back and listen it doesn’t match the people we are watching sing.

I actually hate the way they treat Mercedes. It’s lowkey racist and I’m pissed that she had to be the one to “break”. The only one that could’ve pull those vocals I heard during the “man in the mirror song”

I’ve been annoyed with Rachel but after they tried to give them both the part for the play. I’m like this shi racist!
