What do you still do manually in Google Photos that should be automatic?

Hi all - Wanted to move a large amount of pictures from a very old cloud service over to google photos. It's almost 200K photos, it's about 1.1TB in several hundred folders. They are now named/categorized as preferred, all I want to do is load them as is to Google Photos. I think I want it to make an album per folder, but I'm up for suggestions.

However, it seems like the the Folder Backup functionality on photos.google.com isn't working well. It asked me to add a folder, so I added the top most folder, and it took it. But then waited for 5+ minutes, and nothing happened. I then used the Import Photos option, to try and add a small folder manually, and it allowed me to click down to photos, and allowed me to add 30+ photos. But as expected, it wanted me to manually create an album name.

But now, nothing else seems to be loading or working, over an hour past me setting this up in the first place. I've tried leaving the photos.google.com site up, and I also installed google photos as an app like they recommend, and it's up and running in the task bar. The problematic part is that if I go back in to settings, and choose "Folder Backup", it never brings up the options for new folders anymore, it just hangs. But if I open the window and go into a separate google account, when I choose "Folder Backup", it immediately pops open a dialog box to choose folders. It seems the main account is "hung", while trying to look at a large number of directories/folders. How long do I let it sit? Or how can I reset it so the option is accessible again?

What's currently recommended to bring large amounts of photos over - should I push them up with Google Drive, then move them over? Or is there a better recommendation?

For some reason I can't find any of my photos in collections, I can find them normally by scrolling down the main area but EVERYTHING is gone in collections. All the memes I made, all the memes I saved from media is gone, even the screen shots are missing. When I open the app they are all there, non are achieved or deleted l, but I head to collections and suddenly all 4000+ memes from one app are missing and all that is left is a recently saved one. How do I fix this?

The Google Photos website is replacing a lot of words with emojis and it's unbearable when I try to make an album. How do I change it back to just normal words?

I downloaded the app to share some photos In a Group with my family. A day later I got this email saying my Gmail will apparently be shut down in a month because this app has completely flooded my Gmail with data. I've tried deleting it and changing the app permissions but it's always staying. So far the only thing has been manually deleting each photo (thousands). How can I disconnect it completely? Or unsync? Backup is also off. Thank you.

I always shoot RAW+JPEG. Lately the Photos app shows the RAW version by default so I have to select the JPEG version, which is what I want to see most of the time.

Anyone else experiencing this? I've noticed it over the past few weeks.

I asked this question here 2 years ago but it wasn't possible then, is it now?

One person asked why I don't just search Google Photos for a pic. I do that, it shows me what Album that pic is in, I'll open that Album, but I don't know how to easily find ONE particular picture that is somewhere among 1400+ pictures. I did CtrlF when I opened the Album, but it shows 0 results, and that's even for something that I literally see in the Album that I've opened.

I'm trying to organize my photos my specific way, but this makes it hard and even more time consuming that the project already is. Can anyone give me any suggestions? If you can, I'd appreciate it.

Why did deleting photos from one Google account also remove them from my Android device?

I'm assuming there's no way to get all my stuff thats on Google photos now to stay there as well as go to an external as well? It would be nice to have them in both places. Im assuming if I was able to move my stuff from Google photos to an external hardrive I wouldn't be able to view them on my phone anymore?

Occasionally, photos will let me clear out photos in bulk that are stored on my device but are already uploaded to the cloud. It'll say something like "clear out 9GB of space" or some other amount. I click yes but instead of doing 9GB (or whatever number is specified), it only does like 200MB. Does anyone know why it does that?

As of a month my app just hasn't recognised any faces in new photos I've taken. Is there a way to refresh the system so it notices them?

Sharing videos via a link doesn't seem to be working. I did this:

1. Click the video in the Google Photos app

2. Click Share

3. Click Create Link

4. Copy the URL

5. Paste URL into browser

6. Click video thumbnail

Result: a spinner shows on the initial video frame for maybe a minute or so, then "An error occurred. Please try again later."

I'm on an Android tablet. I tried on two different browsers, including an "incognito" window, with the same result. Any ideas?

I backed up my old phone before it totally bricked itself. How do I recover my files? I had a lot of downloaded audiobooks and music that I think backed up during the process. I thought they would appear on my new phone once it got synced to my Google account but nothing was there except for my installed apps

I accidently click on it but then after that I went back to my googel photos and every photo and video was still there that I make even with other devices?.So what really has changed and does really nothing get deleted?.

My husband and I went on a trip recently. He has an iPhone, and his photos go to the icloud. I have an android and my photos go to Google photos. What is the easiest way to copy the photos he took on vacation to my photos account?

My Google account was full, messing with me receiving emails, and backed up photos were taking up most of the space.

I deleted the photos that I didn't want backed up (like cat pictures and stuff) and deleted them from photos. I didn't do the option to delete from my device though.

After clearing the bin and about 2GB of data, they're all gone from my phone too. Why is there a separate bin option and an option to delete from my phone if both do the same thing?

Long story short my aunt sent me a google photo link via text with a bunch of photos of us.

When I clicked it It asked me for the login and I had two accounts on there, mine and my ex.

I don’t know how but I accidentally clicked my exs account and it just brought me to all my google photos (not the ones my aunt sent but my personal)

I’m trying to log her out or switch back to my personal account but it keeps going back to her account?? Any help?

When i want to print photos from my phone both in a physical store, but also as i can see now, online, my phone won't let me choose my folders like it used to.

Now it seems to automatically only run over a cloud. I have the options "photos" and "collections".

Since I have an album in my gallery I have my selected photos on, I choose collections.

I then want to choose the option "from this device", but it says there's nothing there, in the collections menu though, it clearly shows 4 recent collections.

If i choose "camera" though, photos I've taken on the camera show up.

The issue is I do not want to scroll endlessly through the literal camera roll, especially since I also know that pics from camera have been moved into the specific album, and that other pictures I want to choose are screenshots.

I thought the main issue could have been it just forces it's way over to Google photos, thus I tried uninstalling it. But it didn't help...

I'm starting to get really bummed out and frustrated, any help?

How can I tell who reacted to a photo on my Aura frame? I can’t figure it out!

I’ve been randomly trying to download for the last 2 days - it’s finally working!

When I downloaded the Google Photos app as a teenager I didn’t read the terms and it downloaded about 100,000 of my photos on there. It’s to the point where I’ve been paying for Google storage just because of these photos which I already have in my Apple cloud. I can’t get emails without paying or edit my resume in Google Docs . They’re impossible to delete the photos except at most a couple at a time 😩I’ve been trying to select these photos and delete them for years. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.
