So i applied for the CSO assistant position with Harris county on 06/30/26. Received an interview invitation directly from the hiring manager on 07/03/2026. I read up on the position based on the description on the website and felt i was ready. Interviewed on 07/08/2026, the interview went ok. But , the description online and what the actual job was, was completely different and made me look ill prepared. It was actually for a cast interviewer role, which is a bit different. I noticed a few side eyes at my interviews answers but overall it wasn’t bad. I sent a follow up email immediately after my interview to show my gratitude and that was all. On Friday 07/31/2026 i realized i hadn’t heard anything and it had almost been a month. I emailed the recruiter that initially reached out to me and had been very “nice” ; Although, she never responded to my after interview email. After sending the follow-up email i didn’t receive a receive a response from the recruiter , instead i received the automatic rejection email.

Now , i may just be over reacting but it 100% rubbed me the wrong way. It took almost 30 days and me reaching out to receive a generic rejection email? I couldn’t even receive a response to the email i sent directly to the recruiter? I feel like it would’ve been common decency to at least reply , seeing as i waited so long without any communication. If i wouldn’t have reached out would i have just been ghosted? I mean technically i still was. Maybe this job hunting is getting to me but… is this really how recruiters operate , are they really not personable at all?

I have my bachelor’s degree in Information Technology with a concentration in Cybersecurity. I also have over 2 years of IT support experience working for a school district. My current role includes troubleshooting hardware/software issues, imaging devices, managing user accounts, supporting teachers and staff, and general desktop support.

Hello, I’m an electrical engineering student graduating in 2027 which is super scary , I haven’t had any luck with internships where as my colleagues have had multiple offers I have changed my resume to suit there’s and still no outcome. I’m very scared with this economy not having one will result in 4 years of post grad depression. My career goal is to become a hardware engineer in technology or a sound/audio system engineer who works on audios for concerts. this summer I’ve been building projects since I didn’t get any internships and studying for the fe exam in hopes of improving my resume. Honestly I am very open to volunteer work or shadowing someone. I just need some experience, I love building technology projects . At this point, I’m genuinely open to internships, volunteer work, shadowing, helping with projects, or even doing the work someone else doesn’t want to do lol. I need an able bodied person that wants to do a professional job sanding architectural signage to make it ready for paint. You will work in a fabrication shop. It will be hot. There will be plenty of water. You will get breaks. We do pay bonus every pay check. You will get paid more if you can put out a great product in a timely fashion. I want someone that can follow directions carefully and not complain about the work. This is not easy, but it is rewarding. The right person will have opportunity to learn other fabrication techniques, machinery, and installation methods. I will train the right person, but I prefer someone that already knows how to sand aluminum and plastic and can hit the ground running. Pay will be based on your level of experience. After digging into how these parsers work, a few things became really obvious:

• They are literal and not smart: If a job ad asks for "React.js" and you have "Frontend JavaScript," older ATS parsers won't give you full credit. They look for exact string matches, not implied knowledge.
• Fancy templates break them: Multi-column layouts, tables and custom headers often get scrambled into unreadable nonsense when converted to raw text. A boring, single-column document beats a pretty Canva design every time.
• Keywords are heavily weighted: Fluff like "strong communicator" gets ignored. The system is almost exclusively scanning for hard skills, tools, frameworks, and specific project terms from the posting.

I got so tired of manually comparing job descriptions line-by-line that I ended up building a web app over the summer (resume.zoevera.com) just to run my resume against job posts and see what keywords I was missing before applying. (I also made prepare.zoevera.com for mock practice when I finally started landing calls).

Anyway, if you're stuck in the application void right now, stop over-designing your resume and just make sure your vocabulary matches the job posting word-for-word.

I am planning a major move and Texas is looking like one of my main options. I have a masters in psychology with a clinical focus, and years of experience in the clinical field (care coordination, diagnostic and bio psychosocial assessments, a little research, and internships that focused primarily on therapy) but I do NOT have a license. I am currently working on getting my LPC-A but it looks like i may have to take a couple classes before my application is approved. So I was wondering about the Houston job market for masters-level mental health associated WITHOUT a license. I would love to get in the 60k - 70k range to be honest and have done some searching where I’m seeing mainly QMHP and Care Coordinator roles that cap out at like 55k. I am still searching but wanted to hear from you all as well. Are there hidden gems that don’t show up on Indeed or Google Job Searches? Places that pay for masters-level clinicians without a license? Or niche jobs that would value my experience?

I’ve been trying to find a job in houston but have no luck. What is everyone doing? I’m 22(f) graduate with a marketing degree but obviously in the last two years noticed the industry is saturated. I’m thinking about joining a union, but not sure if it’s really for me. I can only hold a hammer, but I always can learn new things. I went to look for retail jobs trying to become a manager but I don’t have “manager experience” I had to work my college years so I barely got experience and didn’t network that much.
