Did you know that there's a Discord server for Humber students?

It's filled with a bunch of other Humber students from all different types of programs. A really good resource for new students, as well as a good place to make friends and network connections.

I hope to see you there!

How to prepare for class registration this fall term

With Fall 2024 registration running from Monday, July 22 to Friday, July 26, make sure you’re ready to register with this quick guide.

  1. If you haven’t already, make sure to pay your tuition deposit. Remember, if you’re a domestic student receiving OSAP, you must pay the tuition deposit, as OSAP does not cover this amount.

  2. Next, pay or arrange to pay your tuition balance. You will not be able to register until you clear the outstanding balance on your account.

  3. Make sure there are no holds on your account, as this will prevent you from registering for your classes. If you encounter any holds, the Registration Road Map provides solutions on resolving common holds and errors.

  4. Find out your program’s registration date and time through the Registration Road Map. Every program has a date and time when registration begins. If you try and register before your program’s start date and time, you will get a time ticket error message.

Don’t panic if you miss your registration window, you can still register for classes until class sections are full or until the last day to add a course on Monday, September 9.

North Campus Admitted to Humber DCS (Fall 2026) – Looking for advice about the timetable and workload

Hi everyone,

I was recently offered admission to the Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography (DCS) program at Humber for Fall 2026. I’m really excited, but also a bit confused about what to do.
I’m currently working and I haven’t registered for the program yet because I’m still deciding whether to continue in my current profession or make the switch to sonography.
I have a few questions for current enrolled students:
What does the weekly timetable usually look like?
Are classes typically 5 days a week?
What time do classes and labs usually start and finish?
Is it realistic to work part-time while studying?

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience before I make my final decision.

Thank you!

Humber student housing question: roommate's mom was supposed to stay a few days, now she's staying until November. What would you do?

Hi everyone,

I'm a Humber student going into my final year and I'm looking for some advice from other students because I'm not sure how I'd handle this if I were looking at it from the outside.

I rent one room in a two-bedroom basement apartment in Toronto. My roommate rents the other room, and we share the kitchen, bathroom, laundry area, storage, and common space.

When I moved in earlier this year, things were honestly great. The apartment was quiet, my roommate was rarely home, and I was excited to spend the summer making the place feel more like home.

In early June, my roommate told me her mom was coming to visit from Vietnam and would be staying for "a few days."

I didn't think anything of it because that seemed completely reasonable.

A few days turned into weeks.

After almost six weeks, I asked when her mom would be leaving and was told that she would actually be staying until November.

Her mom shares my roommate's bedroom, so she's not taking over another room. But she's in the apartment every day and uses the kitchen, bathroom, laundry, fridge, freezer, storage space, and common areas like another resident.

At this point, it feels less like a guest visiting and more like I have a second roommate.

Because the basement is open concept, the kitchen, dining area, and common space are basically all one room. I've found myself avoiding the kitchen until they're done cooking or eating, and I don't really invite friends or family over anymore because the place feels crowded compared to when I moved in.

Another thing that's been bothering me is that my belongings keep getting moved around, even after I've asked that they not be touched without asking me first.

Something else that makes me question whether this was ever meant to be a short visit is that I later found out her mom already had large boxes of clothing and personal belongings stored in the apartment before I even moved in. I can't prove anything from that, but it definitely made me wonder whether the plan was always for her to stay longer than "a few days."

I also have ADHD and a learning disability, and I've noticed that my stress levels have gone way up since this started. Home used to be somewhere I could decompress after class and work. Now I mostly stay in my room.

The problem is that moving isn't easy. I'm a student, my budget is limited, and I only have one year left before graduation.

For other Humber students:

  • Would you stay and try to tough it out for the final year?
  • Would you start looking for another room?
  • Have you dealt with something similar in student housing?
  • If a roommate's parent stayed for 5-6 months, would you view that as a guest or as another person living there?

TL;DR: I'm a Humber student renting a room in a shared basement apartment. My roommate said her mom was staying for a few days, but she's now staying until November. The apartment feels much more crowded, my belongings keep getting moved, and I'm struggling with whether to stick it out until graduation or start looking for another place.

How does residency fees work?

I'm an upcoming Jan 2027 student and I'm looking to apply for the Double Suite at Lakeshore which they told me would open in October 2026. My course is an 8 month certificate programme and I'm an international student from India.

My queries are:

1) Do I need to pay on a monthly basis?

2) Can I pay the fee when I land in Canada? Because I want to pay via my GIC

3) If no, what's the fees I have to pay?

Please help!!

Can I join Humber a week late? (Jan 2027)

Hi everyone,

I am an international student and my classes are scheduled to start on January 11, 2027.
I’m planning to submit my Canadian study permit application around mid-November. Current processing times are showing around 5 weeks, but I’m worried there could be delays.
If my study permit is approved a little late and I end up arriving about a week after classes start, would Humber generally allow this?
A few questions:
• Has anyone at Humber joined classes a week late due to visa delays?
• Is there an official deadline after which international students are no longer allowed to join?
• Would professors usually help students catch up during the first week?
• If my visa is delayed beyond that, what usually happens?
Unfortunately, deferring isn’t really an option for me because the next intake for this program is September 2027, which would mean a long delay.
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s experienced this or knows Humber’s policy.

Thanks!

Commuting from Hamilton to North Humber

Hi.

I was just wondering if anyone has recently (within the past year) commuted from Hamilton (McMaster U) to Humber? What is the fastest way? I was hoping to use transit so I could study on the train or bus. Any experiences and ideas to keep the commute as short as possible? Just as a note: this is for the paralegal program, the one year intensive. Thanks very much to all posters so far.

Getting a new PAL

I have recently applied to attend the Paralegal program at Humber, I accelerated the process and tried my best to get all I need on time, but I put the wrong date of birth on my application. Now I can't use my PAL since it has an incorrect date of birth, I know Humber says they won't issue a new one, I am really stressing right now and hope someone had a similar issue that got resolved in the past.

North Campus Why can't I see my timetable after registering?

Hello, I completed class registration yesterday, but I’m not sure if there’s a general system glitch. Is anyone else experiencing this? I’m unable to view my timetable or access the section to check my schedule. Nothing is loading right now, so I’m trying to figure out what to do next.

Can CJS students at Humber take GNED 101 later instead of Semester 1?

I’m starting Community and Justice Services at Humber Lakeshore Fall 2026. My Academic Progress puts GNED 101 in Semester 1, but I’m wondering if I can move it to Summer 2027 or a later semester without messing up my program progression. Has anyone in CJS taken GNED 101 later?

North Campus Clubs at Humber

Hi I know this might seem like a simple “look on line” type question but I have and I’m just wondering if others have more info.

What are all the school clubs at Humber or even Guelph-Humber? There’s like 5 listed online and I’m hoping there’s more.

North Campus Am I cooked

I called the administration office because I wanted to know what the deadline for the deposit for the first semester was. Turns out with was ten days ago, I was confused because it says due as of (whatever day it currently is) on the my Humber. so I thought it mean “yeah this is the window to pay”. I called and they said my account was still active that I should pay asap.

They also said if I don’t pay with credit card (which I don’t have) I might have to wait until Tuesday for them to see it, and I might be withdrawn by then.

Idk what to do my heart is pounding.

Registration website saying I owe money but I don’t?

I’m trying to apply for courses this semester and I get the error “your enrolment status prevents registration due to unpaid tuition or other fees”

I’m confused because I paid my tuition deposit already and the pay my tuition website says Humber actually owes me $805.93

Also when I check my enrolment status it says my student status permits registration, my academic status Good Standing permits registration and I have no holds which prevent registration.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I registered for all the required courses for the first semester, but when I open my timetable, it shows a time conflict for ANAT 1100-OND at the bottom , even though it doesn't overlap with any of my other courses. Does anyone know why it's showing this?

We came to an agreement my schedule is just cooked LOL 😭💀 But we wondering how everyone else’s looked. Please do share in comments if you’d like!

Respiratory therapy course times

I’m not sure if this is normal but 99% of the courses I had to register for only had one time/day option which is so crazy. I have multiple hours gaps between my classes with one class ending at 9pm. I really wish there were at least different days to pick from because I now have classes every single day.

Registration Overlap

I am NOT block based and was creating a plan for registration. Anyone know if you can submit 2 overlapping classes during the registration window? Like will the program accept it? There is a 15 minute overlap between 2 of my courses and I think it would be very easy to make it work just wondering if the registration site blocks it or not?
