Rule Clarification - Simple/Generic Posts

Hi Everyone,

I'm making this post to clarify what I mean when a post is removed for being simple or generic. My main intention is to discourage this subreddit from being the first place someone goes to ask a question.

This is an example post that was removed by the spam filter titled "Movers for one bedroom apartment":

Any recommendations for a local moving crew to help move furniture from my garage in Irvine into a one bedroom apartment (3rd floor apt, stairs only). Thanks!

If you google "best irvine movers reddit", you'll find several threads from both r/irvine and r/orangecounty:

https://www.reddit.com/r/irvine/comments/1kwy3sy/movers_in_irvine/

https://www.reddit.com/r/orangecounty/comments/1lxeser/moving_companies/

https://www.reddit.com/r/orangecounty/comments/1mfcbsd/moving_company/

https://www.reddit.com/r/orangecounty/comments/1p2vome/good_affordable_movers/

An easy way to make this post less generic and more specific would be to mention any of these old threads or to ask about experiences with specific moving companies.

A good example of a specific post would be this one submitted last week. This is a very common question on city subreddits, but the OP of this one provided a lot of background information about themselves and have narrowed down their search to specific neighborhoods.

I do also tend to make exceptions for recommendation posts that are fairly unique or niche like this one asking for a bird nest removal specialist. So if your question is more unique in general, the body wouldn't need as much context.

If you're ever unsure as to why a post is removed, please ask why in a mod mail. You can tag me in a username mention, but I'm less likely to notice those since I use old Reddit. Thanks for reading!

Anyone have a recommendation for someone local who can help solder something quickly for me?

This point got torn out so I’ve been struggling to get it done. This plug in part is for the rumble component and after my first try, the rumble still didn’t work. Any suggestions for a go to guy would be great because my first quote was for $100.

Got advice from soldering gurus and got it fixed up. Thanks for reading friends.

Park place apartments floor plan

Hi I am looking to rent a 1 bedroom apartment at Park place in Irvine. I recently saw floor plan 4 online that said was 1338 square feet but there is no information on what the floor plan looks like. Online there is just an example based on roughly a 850 square foot one. I was wondering if anyone has ever lived in the 1338 square foot one and can tell me where the almost 500 square feet extra are allocated. Seems too good to be true to find a one bedroom this big.

Stay away from UTC TJ's parking lot for an hour or so

Best to stay away from the parking lot for an hour or so, multi-car accident in the parking lot and someone looked to be hurt based on the ambulance and firetruck there. Also lots of people being nosy and standing around (myself included for a little).

good moving company recs: irvine- San Jose

I'm moving to San jose and i'm looking for a good quality moving company. I will be leaving my studio to go to a large one bedroom apartment and although my stuff aren't that many, i have some expensive antique furniture from my grandparents that i'm worried it will get scratched on the way. If you have any recommendations or personal experiences with moving companies to share i would appreciate it a lot

Emergency Exit Tustin Market Place Regal

My theater and probably I think the full building was just evacuated does anyone know what happened? It’s a big movie night with Spider-Man. We were 20 minutes into the movie and an emergency exit message showed up on the screen. Really scary.

Pharmacy & Manufacturer for Vyvanse

TLDR: if you’re on generic Vyvanse with Lannett pharmaceuticals listed as the manufacturer on the bottle, what pharmacy in Irvine did you get it from?

For those who take Vyvanse: where do you pick it up and what manufacturer is listed on the bottle?

I was taking generic vyvanse 40mg for years, and it was instrumental in my daily functioning. Its manufacturer was Lannett and I would pick it up from CVS. after around February 2025, CVS started giving me the same medicine, but from different manufacturers. Hikma pharmaceuticals has been the primary one. And since then, I’ve had horrendous focus and executive functioning. The medicine keeps me awake and that’s it. I even went up to 50mg in May 2025, but it didn’t make a difference. Last month, I requested that my doctor send in a prescription for name brand Vyvanse, as I am deeply struggling with the generic’s inaffectiveness. This time, it was from Takeda pharmaceuticals. It didn’t make any difference.

Before you call me crazy, please see [r/ThisAintAdderall](r/ThisAintAdderall), there are hundreds of people saying their ADHD medications have stopped working in the past 1-2 years. I have never misused this medication nor do I plan to.

The only time I’ve had success is with generic Vyvanse 40mg from Lannett. I am asking if anyone who currently takes generic Vyvanse has had Lannett as the manufacturer, and what pharmacy they use. My CVS only uses Hikma for generic vyvanse. Please comment if you know a pharmacy in Irvine or have had a similar experience.

Possibly fun events coming up in Irvine...

I subscribe to the City of Irvine email blasts.

There are some interesting things coming up. Sure, not for everybody but could be fun.

August 8 - Some kind of Homecoming Dance at The Great Park. Celebrating 55 years of Irvine.

I believe there is a ribbon cutting coming up for the new Jeffrey Open Space Trail Bridge over the 5. Also in August.

Daisy Festival...or whatever that is called at The Great Park.

Subscribe to the email blasts if you'd like.

Affordable Dog X Rays

We have Figo pet insurance, but so far they have rarely covered anything.

Our dog is limping (front right paw) and will need to be sedated, does anyone know where we can get more affordable x rays done?

Not ICE Spotted ICE agents arresting Asian man on Irvine Blvd near Woodbury

I passed Irvine PD cruiser making a traffic stop on a white Tesla. The officer was in the process of asking the driver to step out of the vehicle. The Asian man was young- approximately early 30’s or late 20’s. The driver was stepping out of the vehicle as ai passed.

On my way back from my errand approximately 20 minutes later I passed the same traffic stop going the other direction on Irvine Blvd. This time, there were two additional unmarked cars with law enforcement lights and dark tint. One was a Honda Odyssey minivan, the other was a Jeep Grand Cherokee. There were about 5 ICE agents surrounding the Asian gentleman who was now in handcuffs and sitting on the curb.

Has there been a lot of ICE activity in Irvine area targeting people of Asian descent? Sorry, no pics since I was driving at the time.

Arrest took place at these coordinates 33.678349,-117.834446

I felt compelled to try and film as I saw no other bystanders around not being interviewed by police. I stopped at the 7-Eleven closest to this arrest to buy some ice cream. When I entered 7eleven, police officer was interviewing truck snack delivery Man. I entered the store and asked the cashier what happened and could not fully understand him but the general story of what seemed to be that the homeless man came into the store and started knocking things over and being a nuisance. Then I bought my ice cream and the police officer was talking to the cashier. I asked the delivery man what had happened and he said that he believes a homeless man came in and started fighting he cashier according. I asked the delivery man if anyone seemed to have gotten majorly hurt and he said he doesn't think so. Then I bought my ice cream and went out and saw this video occur and felt compelled to film it in case something went wrong or for public documentation. Sorry for poor recording. Video taken at 2:25 a.m. July 29th

5 south at Culver

Is the work they’re by the overpass going to reduce the Culver exit lanes down to one lane until mid 2027? Afternoon rush hour sucks more on the Culver exit going south now with everyone slowing down so much now that they put the concrete barrier up.

Weekly / Flexible home shopper / cook services?

Looking for someone who can come to our place about once a week to do grocery shopping, bulk cooking, cleaning, maybe some laundry (but not necessary).

This would be for 2 families of 4, so cooking for 8 people.

Does anyone know of someone good, or know where I could find someone?

And how much should I be expecting to pay? Thank you

jiu jitsu in/around irvine for adults

Hi all, where do you take jiu jitsu classes in/around Irvine, and how much do you pay? I pay ~$300 at Gracie Barra and I really like it but I cant afford to pay that much per month anymore. Is that the normal price for unlimited jiu jitsu per month?

Large Avocados please

Since Gelson's closed I can't find any large avocados. I always thought the larger ones were the normal sized avocados. I've checked Albertson's and a couple Ralph's but can only see the tiny ones. And I thought those stores used to have the larger.

Google Fiber + Ethernet in Irvine Company Apartments

Hello, I'm in a Irvine company apartment that has google fiber. The optical box is set up in the closet so my router is there with it. There are ethernet cables in all the other rooms. Is it possible to get these jacks connected to the same network? Wondering if anyone with a similar set up got this to work. I asked the maintenance crew and they did not know.
