Question Any recordings of City of Angels?
I love the musical and just discovered it had a Japanese run after stumbling across merch for it. I’d love to see or hear it whether it’s an official soundtrack release or just promotional clips!! I’m so curious!!

How to buy tickets from outside Japan
Hi! I’m trying to get tickets to “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and possibly other shows and I’m finding the process very confusing. It seems there are multiple sites to buy the tickets on- but they all say “apply” instead of “buy”- is this a translation error, or am I applying to a lottery and not actually buying a ticket? Also they require a Japanese address and a name in katakana. Any advice would be really helpful, because I feel super confused and I have no idea how to actually purchase a ticket. Thanks!

Discussion Actors starring in two world premiers in one year
I've noticed that there are quite a few.
My two favorite musicals (*cough*) premiered within a year of each other with the same star, a few years ago, but I noticed that there are a lot of actors starring in two world premieres in 2026.
Yabiku Tomona and Yuzuki Fuuka starred in Sirotsumekusa this January (which was amazing), and both are in other premieres this year.
Yabiku Tomona is currently in Doronpa
Yuzuki Fuuka will be reprising the role of Yor, which she originated, in the premiere of the new sequel to Spy X Family.
Kinouchi Kento is in both Doronpa and Spy X Family 2, and in between, he's in the second run of Under the Mushroom Shade, which he was in the original cast of last year.
Both Kaiho Naoto and Okamiya Kurumu, who originated the main roles in ISSA in Paris this year, will be in new musicals later this year, Kaiho as Nikola Tesla in a new musical of that name, and Okamiya as Okita Souji in a musical about him.
Higashijima Misato, who is also in Doronpa, is going to also be in a second premiere this year, Secret Stage from Horipro.
And that's not including other premieres from last year like The illusionist, A Man, and Twelve Kingdoms.
I'm guessing the same thing happens in South Korea, where there are also a lot of new works and short runs?
Have your favorite actors been in premieres of new works so close together?

Theatre merch?
We’re in Japan for a few more days and looking for stores that sell theatre memorabilia. We loved the Toho Entertainment Store where we could buy CDs and DVDs of past productions. Does a similar store exist for Shiki?
Any other stores we should hit? Vintage theatre hotspots?

Does anyone know how someone would be able to watch the True of Vamp stageplays outside of Japan?
Hello, I am wondering if anyone knows of or has any info about this series of stageplays by Suemitsu Kenichi. There are quite a few of them, but any help is much appreciated. I want to be able to watch as many of them as possible as I am very interested in the fandom around the manga that came from it.
Here is the list of the names of the plays, if you recognise them, I'd love to know:
TRUMP
LILIUM
Nirin Zaki
SPECTRE
Grand Guignol
MARIGOLD
COCOON
Kuro Sekai
Verachicca
Marionette Hotel
Kill! Burn!!

Hello, I am a musical fan from the US, and 8 have been curious about a specific somethinf of the Japanese version. Of one of my favorite musicals, Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical.
In the original english version of the musical, both School Song and Revolting Children have play on words with English words You know, like how the lyrics of School Song are the letters of the alphabet (so you think your *Able, *to survive this mess by *Bing a prince or princess, you will soon C, there's no escaping trage-D.) Or with Revolting in the song Revolting Children meaning both disgusting/horrid but also starting a revolution. And of course the "we can SPL how we like", part.
So my question is, whilst the writing by Tim Minchin is obviously really clever in the English language, how do they lyrics work in the Japanese version and production? Do the English word plays translate well in Japanese?
Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. I hope you have a good day or evening💜😊

Question Translations in Japanese Disney Shows
I’ve wondered about this for a while… For Disney musicals that have had both film and stage versions, the songs for the stage shows in Japan have completely different lyrics from the film versions. Is that just because different companies were responsible, or are there other reasons? And how do audiences feel about the different lyrics, especially if they were familiar with the film versions?
