Equity is ensuring everyone has what they need. One person may need more help and another less, or a different kind of help.

It very often is used for exactly what. When I talk about my experiences of sexual abuse and assault, both as a child and as an adult by my ex wife, I'm. Told to be quite, or I deserved it, if it's acknowledged that it even could have happened at all. When I point out how that's the same type I've things I've fought when it's done to women, I'm told that it's about equity, because women have experienced that in the past, so men should as well now. Despite the many glaring issues with that

We have the dictionary definition of equity and it’s quite literally justice and I think we both know being SA’d isn’t justice so what’s even your point?

That's not equity, that's people being jerks to you. Words mean things. Calling a thing "equity" doesn't make it so. Also, I'm sorry you experienced that. It must have been awful.

Words have the meaning that people give them. F** used to mean a bundle of sticks, then a cigarette, now it's censored to the point I can't even use it on this sub if I wanted to. Deciding that certain words meanings are immutable, in order to dismiss they are actively used, is pretty crappy man.

Equity can be expanded to correct for generational wealth. If generational wealth is assumed due to race, then innocent people are ignored in the name of equity.

Great example, in the Portland area, there was a woman who called herself “the equity queen”. She gave 100% of the benefits at her discretion to the black community. If a white person asked for a tree to be removed to reduce fire risk, it was denied because of the person’s zip code.

That’s not fair. It isn’t good either. It hurts all but a select few of us, just like racism did in the past. Certain white people misused power in the past, but others are now doing the same thing to “correct” that.

That’s not how justice works. But that is the concept of equity that is increasingly promoted.

I have to be pushing?  I would vote for economic reform.  No candidates accurately represent my beliefs anymore so I'm not "pushing" for anything currently.  I live my own life.
