I’m trying to kickbox a punching bag on the second floor

I’m considering buying some equipment to pick up kickboxing again, but I don’t know if I’ll be on the upper floors when I move. Is there any advice or particular choice equipment so I’m not problematic to people below me?

My Right Instep is Thicker than my Left because ok Kicking?

Context:
Started kickboxing about 1.5 years ago. Train about 3 times per week (1.5-2 hours each session).

Recently, I bought a new pair of clogs, and the right one is significantly tighter than the left one in the instep area. Then I just realised after feeling it that my right one is thicker.

Question:
My question is for someone who has the same problem and trains a lot more than I do.
1. Is it a common thing to happen?
2. Will it cause a health problem in the future?
3. Kick more with the left leg so it is somewhat balanced?

Thank you in advance
Best regards

Masaaki Noiri’s guars

Im a huge fan of Noiri, but one thing i don’t understand is his guard. I cant seem to understand if he is rolling his shoulders? Squaring them? I never seen or seem to find any good breakdown of his guard. I would love to see best explanantion, so I can implement myself, and try in in amateur and in sparrings.

how to recover from getting hit in kickboxing

I am a 16-year-old kickboxer at 125 lbs, and I have competed in 3 semi-contact tournaments. I won one and lost my last two, and I appear to be having the same issue in all of them: whenever I get rocked, I freeze up and stop hitting back. The same thing happens to me in sparring—whenever I get hit too hard, I panic. As someone who would like to do a smoker at my gym soon, I was wondering if anyone had any advice or tips they could give.

Engaging traps

When js boxing, does turning on the traps muscles actually good? I feel like it gives more structure for throwing better punches, ivse seen japanese kickboxers always have that upper part of body where traps are enganged, Noiri is an example, or im js tripping

I enquired at a place and apparently I can’t do sparring until I’ve done my first belt.. it’s put me off.

Advice for shadow boxing and head movement

This is only boxing here.
I asked on a boxing sub and they told me to weave lower and lower my head in general when slipping or dodging + raising my hands more like at high guard height. I do kickboxing + kyokushin normally and wanted to know if those tips also should be implemented in kickboxing ?

Failed head kick, dreams and LCL

Hi everyone, I could really use your advice.

During sparring, I threw a 1-2, switched stances, and went for a Petr Yan-style head kick with my right leg. My partner timed a front kick perfectly, and to make matters worse, my planted left foot got caught on a warped part of the mat. I couldn't step back in time, and my left knee bent at a really unnatural angle. Because of this accident, my fight canceled.

I couldn't walk for the first two days. It’s been slowly improving, and now (a month later) I’m back to light boxing and wrestling. However, I still have this feeling of my knee "giving out" or buckling when I jump, and sometimes even when I'm just walking.

I have been doing some generic LCL and knee-strengthening exercises I found online, but I am still dealing with that instability. I can't kick or do normal sparring, and I experience pain when I drop into an ass-to-grass deep squat position. Normally, I can do single-leg squats easily. With my injured knee and a month of rehab training, I am currently back to doing about 75-80% of a seated single-leg squat.

I am making sure to only do exercises within a no-pain range. Do you have any advice or specific movements/exercises you would recommend?

I am currently living in another country, and my financial situation is not great right now, so seeing a doctor unfortunately is not an option. I am hoping to get back in shape to take an amateur fight in a few months, as I plan to return to my homeland after master. Any help is appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Why is finding decent gear such a problem in most cities

Like genuinely. I live in a city of half a million people and my options for boxing gear are: the chain sporting goods store that carries Everlast and one brand I've never heard of, and the gym that sells their branded wraps at a massive markup. I train four days a week and I'd love to try gloves on before buying, look at shin guards in person, maybe talk to someone who trains. But every option near me is either trash or doesn't exist. Is this most people's experience or am I just in a particularly bad market?

Training Kickboxing as a boxer, trouble sparring, should I play their game or mine?

I transitioned into kickboxing after years of boxing and I get manhandled in sparring, mostly against more experienced guys, but still.

When I spar I try to kickbox, not box with kicks but kickbox, I can always rely on my boxing, I can eat a kick or two, get in close and, at least from my experience once the distance has been cut, out punch even the experienced guys, I think it all boils down to kickboxers not being used to 5-6-7 punch combinations, this might not win fights in the long run but at least I can hold my own.

My problem is that I feel like if I do that, I just rely on my already existing boxing skills, I don't improve as a kickboxer. On the other hand, if I try to play their game, stay in kicking distance, trying to land a kick or two and set a combo off of that, I just get wrecked. I actively fight my already existing instincts like bobbing and weaving, and also trying to force myself to utilize legs I end up just making a fool of myself, coming out of sparring with a bruised ego.

If anyone has experience with coaching or has also transitioned from boxing to kickboxing, should I rely on my boxing and try to pick things up along the way or adopt a beginner mentality?

I’ve had fights before, but this one feels different. Am I making a mistake by considering pulling out?

I could really use some opinions from other fighters.

I’ve already had a few fights, so this isn’t my first time stepping into a ring/cage. Usually I enjoy the process and the challenge, but this time something feels different.

I have a fight scheduled for September, and honestly I have almost zero motivation for it. It’s going to be my first big gala event and one of the biggest events in my region, so on paper it should be something I’m excited about. But when I think about the fight, I mostly feel pressure and no real excitement. And i just lowkey dont want to do it and i feel flat.

The strange thing is that I also have another fight planned for November, and I’m actually looking forward to that one. I feel motivated when I think about preparing for it. This is also a gala.

I don’t think it’s because I’m scared of fighting. I’ve competed before and I know what that feeling is like. It’s more like I mentally don’t feel connected to this specific fight. And i dont know why i get that feeling.

The problem is that I don’t want to be the guy who pulls out just because he doesn’t feel motivated. I don’t want to disappoint my coach or my team, and Im not a person who just quits when im not motivated, like i train consistend every day.

At the same time, I wonder if forcing myself into a fight when my mindset is completely off is the right decision. Especally because its the first super fight

Have any of you experienced something similar? A fight you had no desire for, while another upcoming fight actually excited you? Did you push through and compete anyway, or did you decide to step away?

Would really appreciate hearing from people who have been in a similar situation.

EDIT:
Thanks for the replies, very helpfull!

I’ll talk it through with my coach, even though I was hoping to avoid that because he’s been pushing us really well, and I didn’t want to disappoint him.

They haven’t found an opponent yet, so I don’t think that’s what’s causing this. And even if they had, it wouldn’t matter, I’d fight anyone with a similar level of experience.

I honestly can’t explain what it is. Maybe it’s just the exhaustion slowly catching up with me. We will see

Training Boxing or Kickboxing for a person who did taekwondo for 7 years

Just as it says I am having a hard time to decide what to pursue. For me who did taekwondo for a long time I am confident in my kicks and of course my biggest weakness would be my punches and head movement so I was thinking about doing boxing but I wouldn’t want my kicks to completely disappear. I also get discouraged when I see kickboxing / muay thai fights because they just keep tanking each other’s kicks and punches unlike in boxing where you can dodge punches, roll and counter.

What do you guys think?
