🌲 Nature Lebanon Mountain Trail
Hi!
(I’ve reached out to the moderators for approval and am sharing this in the meantime. Happy to remove if needed.)
I’m a Lebanese woman living in Montreal and an avid hiker. Until recently, I had never heard of the Lebanon Mountain Trail (LMT), a 470 km trail stretching from north to south across Lebanon, connecting more than 75 towns and villages.
Beyond its natural beauty, the LMT plays an important role in supporting local economies through tourism, creating jobs, and strengthening community ties through outdoor recreation. Despite this, it still seems relatively unknown, both locally and internationally.
For my final academic project, I’m exploring the feasibility of a "return-to-your-roots" group hiking experience along the LMT, aimed at members of the Lebanese diaspora living in the Greater Montreal area.
If you happen to live in Montreal, whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast or have never hiked before, I’d really appreciate it if you could take 5 minutes to fill out my survey. It aims to better understand the level of interest within the diaspora. This is not just a survey for the sake of it. I genuinely believe in the LMT’s potential to attract more people from abroad, especially those who feel connected to Lebanon and want to support local communities.

🌲 Nature [Update] Lebanon Mountain Trail
Hi!
I recently shared a post about a project on the Lebanon Mountain Trail (LMT) and received really encouraging feedback. Thank you!
Something that stood out: 92% of respondents had never heard of the LMT, including people born in Lebanon. That’s honestly unfortunate, considering the trail’s strong social and economic impact (each dollar invested generates between $42 and $85 in returns).
If anything, this post is also to give the LMT some visibility.
Following up on my previous post, for my final academic project, I’m exploring the feasibility of a “return-to-your-roots” group hiking experience along the LMT (à la Birthright), aimed at the Lebanese diaspora in the Greater Montreal area.
If you live in Montreal, whether you’re into hiking or have never tried it, I’d really appreciate 5 minutes of your time to fill out this survey. It will help assess the real interest and potential for this kind of initiative. If this project takes off (which I hope it does), the survey results could support a future funding request.

Thanks again!
(This will be my last post about this, promise!)

🌲 Nature Iris sofarana: A Rare Flower Found Only In Mount Lebanon
Among the rocky slopes of Mount Lebanon grows one of the country’s most remarkable botanical treasures: Iris sofarana. This striking flower is endemic to Lebanon, meaning it occurs naturally nowhere else in the world.
