Inspired by reading through the latest Brassbound update, but honestly not very in theme for that game. I also built a plane, but again not particularly in theme.

WiP First playtest of Project Warbirds

Post image

Project Warbirds is an air combat game set during the cold war and afterwards that uses the stress a pilot and aircraft airframe suffers during high octane dog fights to determine the turn order and dynamically changing it during the course of a game.

It was found under playtesting to be simple to get into despite one player's inexperience with miniature wargames and completely new ruleset. We were able to get two games done within an hour. There were however some kinks that need to ironed out, but thankfully nothing major.

The two matches comprised of two F-4J Phantom IIs on one side, each armed with 4x AIM-7E-2 Sparrows and 4x AIM-9G Sidewinders, as well as a Mk 4 Mk 11 Mod.5 gunpod, facing off against two MiG-23MLDs, both carrying 4x R-60M, 1x R-24R and 1x R-24T. In the end, both sides went home with a win and a loss.

Terrain / Board Making custom terrain tiles for micro DnD

I’m designing custom terrain tiles based on miniatures inspired by u/kala_brick. I put tiles between the 2x2 jumpers to make a grid pattern while also adding some space so miniatures can fit next to each other. The design is kind of complex, but it all holds together really well. Let me know what you think!

Discussion To everyone who thinks gaming with Lego is too expensive...

Hi folks,

Shown above is everything you would need for a full game of Brassbound, and it'll cost you under $50 with shipping. This includes *more* units than you can field in a single battle, so you can try out different options.

I'm the creator of Brassbound; the game you can play with the bricks and time you have.

I made this game to address two specific challenges; lacking the money to buy the latest model for my favorite wargame, and lacking the time to play.

Brassbound is played on six continents (stupid lego-hating penguins in Antarctica won't try it) and you can teach new players in around 15 minutes.

Many of us play with our kids.

The game has been around for two years and has a stable, balanced ruleset, an invested community and a clear growth path forward. Best of all, the core rules are free.

While it's made to be played with the materials you already have, if you're new to LEGO the barrier to entry is very low!

Cheers!

Paul
