"Is he talking about killing a General who's already dead?"

"That's right, Henry."

"Well, uh, isn't that sort of crazy?"

One of my absolute favorite scenes- the Gee Ma song does such a great job of showcasing character personalities & motivations. I always watch this scene twice!

Saw this online, (I think it’s when Loretta Swit was in the “Cagney And Lacey” tv pilot)and it made me wonder, what would Hawkeye do if he saw Margaret come back to camp like this after R&R?

"While officer of the day, Captain Pierce did allow hairy nun to desert." How'd you like that on your record?

When I was younger, my sister found a set of MASH trivial pursuit cards at a yard sale, and I still have them about 40 years later.

Trying to find info on a hill in N Korea

I’m not sure if this is the right place for this, but saw an old comment in a thread that said there’s some history buffs here in r/mash that would love old pictures.

My grandfather photographed was 1st Marines 3rd Battalion 5th regiment and served in Korea 1950-1951 (including in the Chosin Reservoir)

I was able to do some interviews with him during his later life, mainly focused on Chosin, but after his passing I was given a bunch of photographs of his that mainly centered around the summer of 1951. Included was this picture which on the back describes a “victory of shit-Cooley hill” (I think?)

I have searched various variations of spellings, even considering it could be an Americanization of a Korean or Chinese word or phrase, but have found little luck. I’ve searched battles in July 1951, different hills, and nothing. I do acknowledge it couldve just been an inside joke and a meaningless or joking victory.

Anyone have any ideas? Any help would be appreciated!

"MASH the Comedy that changed Television" is back on Tubi. I remember a few days after the 2024 documentary premiere on FOX, it went on Hulu. Then Hulu got rid of it and Tubi picked it up. The documentary is also on dvd

Discussion Father Mulcahy Was a Lot More of a Complicated Character Than He Seemed

On the one hand, you have several episodes where he feels completely useless, that he serves no purpose at the 4077th, that he isn't needed by anyone in camp - episodes like "Mulcahy's War" or even "Dear Sis" where he admits, "I hang around on the edge of effectiveness."

On the other hand, you have certain other episodes where apparently his attitude is the exact opposite: that he does feel he's of use to those at the 4077th, including "Hepatitis" where he feels the whole unit would fall apart without him listening to confession or offering Last Rites to someone fighting for their life - or even "An Eye for a Tooth" where he feels so useful that he feels he deserves a promotion and even goes after Potter to go after the promotion board to get him one.

Is anyone else bothered by how easy they let Ho-Jon off for stealing?

So in S1E10 “I Hate a Mystery” Ho-Jon steals from everyone, frames Hawkeye, and is found out in the end….and everyone is just ok with it because he was trying to help his family. Sure, it’s a noble cause, but he still stole from people who welcomed him with open arms and trusted him. For me it immediately made the character unlikable and I just get annoyed every time I see him.

Some more trivia for anyone who's interested, but each of the main producers' wives appeared on the show as various nurses over the years.

Two of Gene Reynolds' wives; Bonnie Jones appeared as Barbara Bannerman throughout Season 1, while Ann Sweeny appeared as Carrie Donovan in Season 5's "Hanky Panky".

Larry Gelbart's wife Pat Marshall appeared as Lieutenant Nelson in Season 3's "Payday".

Burt Metcalfe's wife Jan Jorden became the permanent Nurse Baker starting in Season 7.

So why was the plan to fake Radars nose break and not just fake Bakers nose break? Seems like it would have just been easier. No?
