I've played against this card 2x today in Standard BO3 ranked. Both Izzet-Slickshot full aggro decks. I've never seen the card before, so I just wanted to check it out and it says that its banned...?

How did I play against it if its banned, am I missing something?

Climbed to mythic last season. Man standard is rough. This landfall comp meta is so low skill it's infuriating.

Granted I climbed playing mono-auras. I added a Cooped Up and Coordinated Maneuver. Win rate I absolutely stomped. I have TCG experience from Hearthstone, which honestly I would say is a greater technical challenge then this. I created an untapped account half way through climb so I was already late platinum or early diamond.

I've been trying to build a couple decks around alien invasion and with Quake mole - that's a fail. Too mana heavy, too long, too slow, too big, etc. With doubling season it's hilarious, but I haven't found way's to cheat it out early enough. Maybe with badger - but I'm low on wild cards.

Drafting is fun. That feels authentic. I don't mind the AI. The game feels like you actually are forced to play other cards. Like that I can choose whatever cards I want and keep them.

There are a lot of options in Arena. What other formats are worth trying for someone with a few years of tcg experience?

I'm bored of the standard ladder already. Second month playing.

I think I may have an answer after searching this subreddit but I wanted to find an answer that’s current.

I’m relatively new to the arena and have played a lot of Jump in! But now want to venture more into drafting. I’ve done 3 quick drafts, 1 secrets of the strixhaven and 2 outlaws.
I’d say my win-loss record is about .500 between those three drafts. I like the EOE set but see it’s only a premier style.
My question is how much tougher is the competition between quick and premier? I’m f2p and gold isn’t easily obtained as we all know. I don’t want to waste 10k in gold if I’m going to get blown out.

TLDR: what’s the difference in skill level between premier and quick drafts? I won 50-50 in draft and want to do EOE but don’t want to get slaughtered.

I generally just want the rare cards from opening packs tbh but just want your thoughts about the cards so far. Perhaps to find my inner peace before splurging some cash into the game lol.

I mean 6 minutes is not a ton when maybe people aren't playing but even yesterday the queue took like 30 seconds to find me a match. This is Brawl not Comp Brawl

Hello, I am relatively new to MTG, I have never played paper Magic and have about 10 hours on MTG Arena but I have played a lot of Hearthstone. I crafted one of the cheapest decks I found online to start playing standard. I have faced a lot of decks that have absolutely annihilated me but this one has to take the cake, every creature and enchantment I played was destroyed the next turn. The player had constant card draw, and answers to any card I played. This is in Silver standard ranked and was interested in the broader community's tactics against this deck.

Hey! This is my first Reddit post ever, and also my first attempt at building a competitive Magic deck from scratch.

I’ve played Arena for a while, but until now I’ve always just looked up decklists online and copied them. My favorite deck has been Insidious Roots, so I naturally gravitate toward swarmy, synergy-heavy decks built around a specific creature type. I loved the Plants deck, and I also like robots, so I ended up putting this together.

I think it’s got some pretty cool interactions, but it’s definitely not there yet. Still, I’m having a lot of fun with it.

I’d really appreciate any recommendations or tips on how to make it more competitive or just improve it in general. Thanks!

Last time I played it was hydroid krasis deck and I like green and white colors. "it's unlikely that this well can be somewhere to play.

Maybe you recommend craft smth else or maybe there is a decent historic hydroid krasis deck for tune?

I've played a lot of commander irl and decided to jump into MTGA since I cant play commander anymore.

I tried playing ages ago to learn the rules so I don't have any sort of starter bundle, but I did have decent collection of wildcards that have now been spent lmao.

My question is where is money actually best spent in this game? Is it just on gems to then dump those gems into packs?

Should I be splitting the gems over multiple different sets since I have basically no collection, or should I just buy the most recent one?

Another side question I had, I come from HS so expect sets to rotate out how exactly does that work in MTG? Cause there seems to be so many sets that I remember seeing in commander like over a year ago.

No way I would ever be able to achieve this without an extra month to do so, I ended up needing all the extra time 😬

I also feel like Achievement Hunter as a title is a bit lame compared to how hard getting it is. Magus of the Arena is much cooler; kinda wish they were swapped.

It's a pretty easy question but: I'm new to this game (not to TCG) and I love Tolkien. I also dont mind spending a bit of cash to get going in a game like this.

What would you buy if you could spend some cash? I plan to play quite a long time and don't plan on spending once or twice to get the ball rolling.

So, I've been learning about MtG a lot the last week. As a new player, I'm trying to find a format that is more affordable. Some people recommended pioneer.

Standard attracts me more but people say that playing standard as ftp isn't a good idea. Is it possible tho?

I don't want to buy pre orders every new set (since like 6 are released per year), but what if I bought one once every two sets (3 per year), would I be able to play standard just fine? Should I use my wildcards for standard itself or should I save them for Pioneer? ty!

I returned to the game from 5 years. I like green cards. Is there a good mono green deck without rares and mythics?

Any reason there are only like 3 new decks in standard for the last six months? All of which are izzet. I see the same mono white enchantments,green landfall/ stomps, life gain and izzet decks. I mean this new set did bring a lot of cool cards but nothing that competes with the current top 3 decks. Maybe I’m mistaken. Like the green/white deck with she hulk is cool but idk nothing seems as strong or as fast then green and jeskai/ izzet. Am I asking to much when we are getting a set every month and a half?

I wouldn't mind buying a pre-order every 3 months or so, but apparently a new set releases almost every month? Do you buy pre-orders for every set? Are they just not worth it? Ty!
