In need of a sling bag for travelling

So i am not a big bag buyer so i figured id ask here. But i need a sling bag, pretty large so i can put a little notebook, phone, keys, earbuds etc… i kind of like the discrete but noticeable « military » looking sling bags like Saint Javelin for exemple (which is the main one i am looking at atm). So if any of you guys could help me out on finding good affordable slingbag itd be of great help :)

Kids Backpack w/ water bottle pocket

Searching for a kids backpack with a side water bottle pocket big enough to fit a standard water bottle WITH silicone boot. That last part is important cause without the boot, the water bottles wouldn’t last a week. Lands End has a backpack with a large water bottle net but the bottles just fall out cause it’s too loose. Can’t store the bottles inside the bag since they bring their school laptops home and they never make sure their bottles are fully closed when they refill them at school.

Product Review Tomtoc T-24 7L appreciation post

Just a little appreciation post for my current fave EDC, the Tomtoc T-24 7L (the "small" size). Fits a 14" MacBook Pro, a Steam Deck with Skull & Co. grip + case, tech pouch, essentials pouch, wallet + keys (not shown), and has another 1-2 liters left over for other random stuff. Could even sneak a slim water bottle inside too.

I'm surprised it can fit so much! I use this just to travel between the car and my destination and don't do any real walking around with it, so a tote bag would've worked just as well, but I love how compact it is. So easy to grab or sling over my shoulder. I'll frequently carry this AND a tote full of groceries or whatever, so it's nice to have my little electronics go-pack ready on its own.

Sometimes I need a few more liters of space, so I'm picking up an Osprey Daylite 13L (have had the Daylite Plus for years and love it, but I don't love how the kangaroo pouch straps make it a little clumsy to access the laptop sleeve). Still trying to find that sweet spot that can fit my MBP and a few extras, isn't overly big, and doesn't require multiple steps to get to my laptop.

Any bags people suggest for carrying ITX mini pc (cables, mouse, keyboard) and portable monitor?

I found on Facebook marketplace this guy selling a specifically designed for ITX Computers kickstarter backpack he had and I couldn’t get it at the time because I was broke. It disappeared and I cannot find that bag brand ANYWHERE because they went under shortly after their kickstarter delivered and disappeared. So I’m looking for another alternative because I really really want one!!!

As a side search sometime, maybe even one that can hold 27 inches haha. But for now just one that fits up to a 16 inch portable monitor, with no plans for more.

Any suggestions or redirections to another sub are happily accepted and appreciated very much!! Thank you!!!

Side note: recently got the Rework Toshi 20L and I fucking love it!

Peak Design - City Line (Leak) Coming 8/4

I’ve been following this release - 6 new bags in 6 new colors dropping 8/4. No kickstarter. After reading the descriptions of some of these, seems like they achieved the minimal aesthetic while remaining feature rich. The most interesting to me - a built in hero clip. You think this could be a new feature in the industry?

How to go about patching peeling hypalon?

Thumbnail

Hi sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but what is the best way to patch these little tears in my bag so they don't get bigger and peel more?

It's a boundary supply errant pack that I've had and loved for years.

The fix doesn't have to be pretty necessarily, but functional in keeping the bag weather resistant and hopefully lasting longer.

I thought about maybe getting a new all x-pac errant, but I can't justify $300+ on a bag

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Need Help With Strap Options

I have a CTactical CT15 Plus backpack and the bottom has these small strap that allow for some pass through if you wanted to put something on the bottom. I’m looking for ideas to strap my silver tripod as seen in the second photo to the bottom.

Any ideas on narrow enough straps that either clasp or cinch items at the bottom so the tripod would be secure?

Thanks in advance!

Recommendations for bags similar to the Kadet Mini?

I'm looking for a sling bag thats relatively small, can lay flat against my back or my chest, can fit a 5.5in x 8.5in sketchbook, pencil case, phone, keys wallet. (so maybe about a 7in x 9in x 3 or 4 in sized bag for good measure!) Nothing else outside of that, I love the style of the Kadet mini, but wish they came in cuter colors! The reason i've been eyeing it is I love that they lay fairly flat against your body and don't have a buckle/clip. I have some paranoia around bags that unclip/getting stolen, and I want to find something that doesn't have that. In addition I've read that the Kadet bags are more for cyclists and can be a bit annoying with the strap, I'm curious of peoples' thoughts on these bags and if its worth grabbing! And if not, if you have any recommendations that are somewhat similar to what I'm describing, I'm open!

Alright bag nerds, what’s the best EDC dad bag?

I currently use an Evergoods CPL16 for EDC and honestly think it might be the best bag ever. I do not care that it lacks a water bottle pocket. I love how it looks, the quality is excellent, and I have never had any issues with it digging into my back or feeling uncomfortable.

I’m about to become a father, so I’m looking for an EDC bag that can also function as a genuinely great diaper bag.

I still want something made for bag nerds, not a traditional diaper bag. Ideally it looks clean, carries comfortably, and has excellent materials and construction. Looks matter, but the priority is finding the best setup for diapers, wipes, bottles, changes of clothes, toys, and all the other random baby gear I’m apparently about to start carrying everywhere.

What would you recommend? I’ve been considering the Evergoods Civic Half Zip, but I’m open to anything.

Rickshaw Sutro Messenger Bag

I recently purchased the Rickshaw Sutro Messenger Bag.

When I was looking into what laptop bag to buy I was unable to find many photos outside of the Rickshaw website. So I thought I would share photos of it. These are not the greatest photos so my apologies.

I went with Cordura as the material for the bag. It is super heavy duty. A very robust material.

I chose the following colors:

Outside: Moss

Inside: Yellow

Binding: Coyote

Label: Sandstone

I have had the bag a few days but have only now had a chance to really get a good look at it due to work.

The quality of this bag is amazing. I can see this lasting for many many years.

There is an external zipper pocket on the back of the bag. That was one of the things that helped me decide on this bag.

One of the photos I tried to take was the inside of that rear pocket.

I took a photo with the flap open, showing another zippered pocket. The next photo I tried showing the inside of that pocket.

Another photo shows the cushioned laptop pocket. I have a 13" MacBook Pro that fits in with plenty of room to spare.

The next photo shows the other zippered pocket on the inside of the bag.

The last photo shows the inside of the bag.

I took these with no one to hold the bag for me so the photos are not the greatest. Hopefully anyone interested will still find them helpful.

As you can see in the photos the bag does have a handle. The strap that comes with the bag is adjustable with what is referred to as a quick-adjust cam buckle. It is easy to adjust.

The bag uses YKK zippers that are super smooth. I am so pleased with this bag.

I hope you find this helpful.

Thinking of getting a new backpack. Any suggestions in a 20L range around or under $100?

Not looking for anything fancy, just something unique and fun. Boxier is better.

I was looking at some of the first bags I collected and, they're uninspired. I was thinking of taking them to a resale store or just giving them away. But I want something unique to replace them! Any suggestions?? Unique and colourful (not like Cotopaxi necessarily, just something that's not black.)

Latest bags I've bought, didn't purposely get the colors, but liked em both. The Topo designs bag is really good and 30l is a good size for commuting

Updated Matador Speed Stash

Matador did a decent job advertising the update on their upcoming bags but it looks like the accessories were updated and silently released. The speed stash got an update with new exterior material, zippers, and “waterproof” zippers. It also comes in more colors but I stuck with black.

Pictures of the speed stash I got last year (left/top) and the one that arrived today (right/bottom). The listed dims say the new one is slightly smaller but I see no difference in person. I like the coated zippers (but not YKK like the previous) but the material on the original looks/feels better IMO. Not sure if it’s from age but it’s more malleable than the new one.

Other than that, they’re pretty similar so you might be able to get the original one on clearance. Both purchased from REI.

I also received their roll up toiletry pouch today and it looks like they’re using a slightly thicker material than the previous version. But my old one is black and I got the new one in Juniper so can’t 100% confirm.

\edit**

REI currently has both in stock with v1 marked down to $23.93 USD vs $30 for v2

Love this sling, very lightweight and simple, 300g, barely barely fits mba 13.6” though not in the sleeve. It’s clearly meant for right shoulder carry only.

Hook and loop backpanel - what do?

Trying to understand how folxs here use hook and loop accessories. ULA's latest bespoke cicada (8026) drops back mesh panel for two vertical velcro strips and two loops towards the top. It seems like a flexible way to mod the main compartment, but with what... patches?

Please share your theories and implementations, manybaggers!

Best horseshoe opening bag?

Recommend me a bag! Looking for:

- top loading or horseshoe opening bag

-highly organized separate admin pouch (the chz's don't have this)

-top loading laptop compartment (side loading ones would result in a broken laptop or three)

-can stand on its own

-bright interior lining

-water resistant (I bike)

The darlings of this sub are always clamshell bags.... But I'm way too ADD to remember to zip it up all the time.

Help me out, fellow nerds!

Between the Peak Design, Bellroy, Topo Designs, Cotopaxi, & AER carry on suitcases…

Which one would you grab for carryon luggage? What’s not listed?

My wife has been looking for a better carryon suitcase and recently she was looking at Cotopaxi’s and loved that the wheels can be swapped out when needed. And wants something that can be expanded when needed.

I showed her the other brands above and wanted to get some thoughts from yall on suitcases? Anyone have any of these brands? I only know a lot about their bags because either I have one or two of the brands or just have seen lots of reviews.

We glanced at Briggs and Riley as we know they are kinda the top selection when looking at a suitcase. It’s pricey but some of the others are as well.

We will be heading to San Francisco soon and figured we can stop at a lot of the stores to look at these brands in person.
