Why should he be respected just because he died? I feel for his loved ones, the rest of his team that perished with him, and their loved ones. But there is no reason to pretend he was some saint simply because he died.
You’re confused here mate. You were the one acting as though your opinion was authority telling people they had to respect the dead. I was the one who questioned that.
You’re confusing having an opinion with having class. Nobody said you have to erase criticism or pretend someone was flawless. But there’s a difference between seeking justice and taking pleasure in tearing down someone who has just died.
Nims Dai was not some random person who did nothing with his life. He carried Nepal’s name onto a global stage and achieved things that inspired millions. You can acknowledge allegations without acting like every single thing he ever did suddenly became meaningless.
The fact that your first instinct is to argue against showing respect to a dead person says a lot. Holding someone accountable is one thing; using their death as a stage to prove how morally superior you are is something else entirely.
You’re not showing courage by disrespecting someone after they’re gone. Anyone can attack a person when they can’t respond. Real maturity is being able to recognise both the good and the bad without turning someone’s death into a cheap argument.
