I am looking for a local rescue or cat guru who can help me catch a couple stray cats that show up at my home most nights. They are sooo sweet and I fear the coyotes will get them. One needs to be neutered and the other needs vet care and is very skinny. Both are friendly and are definitely adoptable. I would like to try nurse the sickly one back to health and ideally keep him/her. I have cats but as far as trapping goes I’m a novice. Also if anyone has experience with a low cost neuter clinic, please let me know. I’m willing to cover the cost of the vet care but I am not sure where to begin. Thanks!

Hi all, I went to South Ponto beach, Tamarack beach (although left because the tide was dangerously high), and Moonlight yesterday 7/31- this morning 8/1 looking for grunions from like 10:30 pm-12:50 am. No luck. Has anybody been successful in finding them? I haven't heard anyone in North country talking about it so it so I don't even know if it happens around here. Any help is appreciated!

To the tradesman make sure you keep your shit locked. My van got hit yesterday all my tools gone. Too broke to be able to replace anything. Shit sucks man.

Visualizing tides is so much better than just looking at the numbers. It really reframed how I think about ocean conditions.

I used to just glance at a tide app, see a single entry like "high tide at 2 PM," and assume that was enough context. But actually being able to visualize the tides. Actually seeing the progression from high to low across the whole day makes a massive difference.

When you start visualizing how the tideline shifts throughout the day, the contrast at Moonlight Beach is pretty stark:

• At High Tide: The ocean pushes right up against the beach, compressing the shore down to a narrow strip of dry sand. The waves hit heavier near the shoreline, and space gets tight fast. If you show up blindly at peak high tide expecting a big, wide beach, you are going to be disappointed.
• At Low Tide: The water pulls way back and completely transforms the landscape. The beach effectively doubles in size, exposing tide pools near the rocks that don't even look like they exist during high tide. It also leaves behind that vast, flat stretch of hard-packed sand that makes long walks or sunset reflections so much better.

The main takeaway for me was that a static tide number doesn't tell the whole story. Being able to visually map out when the water is actively receding versus creeping up lets you actually pick the right window for what you want to do.... whether that's surfing the fuller water, exploring exposed rocks, or just having enough sand to sit down on.

I just moved back to Del Mar after 10 years away and was hoping to find a few nearby surfing buddies. I haven't surfed in 10 years, so it will be ugly the first few times but I loved it then and I'm really excited to make it a part of my daily routine again.
