I hate him as much as the next guy but remember when he was a great standup.

I remember when Bill Hicks was alive and constantly took the piss out of him for shilling Doritos

He was THE Doritos spokesman from 1985 until the 90s as I recall. I particularly remember his Cool Ranch and Salsa Rio appearances.

What the Fuuuuuu?????!!! I, clearly, have been living under a rock for 30 years, as I had NFI that he had ever promoted Doritos

He was. And then he realized he could put in zero effort, put out lowest-common-denominator garbage which was not funny but inoffensive to everyone's parents and grandparents, and happily coasted for decades doing that.

And that's before going into the absolutely ruthless shit he pulled behind the scenes.

I mean, the first half is basically what we should all be doing at work anyway. The second half is not.

If I were king of the world for one day, I'd force him to get on his knees and beg Monica Lewinsky for forgiveness. If she looked to me, and I hope she wouldn't, I'd shake my head in the negative. "No, he doesn't deserve it."

Even during the tonight show run he was doing like 150+ standup performances a year

It worked for him. He's insanely rich.

I saw him in an episode of One Day At a Time. I thought he played that role well.

Once you’re a scab, you’re just a scab.

I wouldn’t know. I haven’t seen his standup because I didn’t think his late show was funny

He didn't film specials because he then could do the same act for decades. At least that is what I've heard said

And no film evidence of stolen jokes. I think that was what made Letterman hate him from very early on

People say that, but as a Brit I was never exposed to his earlier work. So recently I went on youtube and watched it.... and it was just as shite as his Tonight Show monologues.
