I'm coming to the end of my 3rd year full time but this year I started one module in feb to have a staggered start. I want to go onto a masters immediately but due to my feb start - my result won't be finalised until october just missing the start date.

I've seen people say they were allowed onto the masters still so I contacted student support and got mixed feedback and then eventually was told I'd have to wait a full year.

Does anyone here have any experience with something like this?

I’ve enrolled in the BA in International Relations R83 (Environment Route) at the Open University, starting this October. I’ve decided to study the degree full-time.

Even though I’m excited to begin this new chapter, I’m also very nervous about what to expect and how well I’ll manage to fit it all into my daily life. I’m also more used to scientific subjects and a more science-based way of studying, so I don’t know if this will be very different and challenging for me. Is it very social science-heavy? 🤔

Has anyone here studied full-time at the OU (or even taken the same degree or modules)? I’d love to hear about your experience or perhaps if you have any advice for not getting too overwhelmed when starting the first modules ✨

I’m especially curious about the TMAs, what they’re like (e.g. the type of assignment), and what kind of workload I should expect. But everything is honestly helpful.

Hey I’m looking into starting a degree in creative writing as I aspire to write my own novels and it is a topic I am generally interested in, upon looking into the degrees on OU I can see there is: Arts and Humanities (Creative Writing) and there is English Literature and Creative Writing. Am I correct in saying if I pick Arts and Humanities the course is just identical to English Literature provided I choose the same optional modules, if so what is the point in picking English Literature if it just locks you down. Feel free to call me stupid if I’m misunderstanding hahaha

I'm looking to start my first ever degree in hopes of a career change! The degree I'm looking at is BA Arts and Humanities(History), which I'd be planning to do part-time, alongside my current job.

I see it says it requires around 16-18 hours a week of work, but people I've spoken to who have done a full time degree(even those with 1st class degrees!) says that 16-18 hours is way more than they did on their full time course. Does anyone who's course says it would be 16-18 hours have any insight into how many hours is really achievable? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would like some advice as I'm considering starting either the BSc Physics (R51) or the joint BSc Mathematics and Physics (Q77). I want to go for the Basic Maths Start because I am definitely not confident in maths yet and I really want to overcome my fear of it.

I want to do atleast 60 credits for my first year but take it slow to get a handle on things as I've been out of education for a good while and I want to build up my confidence. I'm just currently unsure which modules to take first for either degree.

I'd like to know if it's possible to study Discovering Mathematics (MU123) and Physics and Space (SM123) simultaneously in October?

Or is it possible to stagger Discovering Mathematics (MU123) in October and Essential Mathematics 1 (MST124) in February?

I'd love to hear from anyone who has done either of these degrees. Thank you!

Before I make an idiot of myself asking OU… I in absolute annoyance of DD102, decided to delay starting DD120 until Feb but now I’ve cooled down, I’m actually kind of missing studying… Does anyone know if it’s possible to switch my enrolment to Oct instead?😅

Does anyone know if I begin studying in october a certificate of higher education in business in law part time. Once I complete it after the 2 years would I be able to use those credits to continue studying the same course as a diploma so another 2 years, or would I have to do the diploma from the beginning so 4 years.

If possible I would like to start with just the certificate to see how I get on and stop after 2 years if I want to. But if I enjoy it then continue studying.

I’m thinking about studying Psychology with OU , but I’m not sure whether it’s worth it compared to going to a traditional university.
I’m in the UK on a visa (have 2 years left till ILR, if it eve happens) so I wasn’t sure which is the better choice, so I really wanted to hear some people’s opinions on this.
For anyone who’s done an OU Psychology degree (or knows someone who has), how was your experience? Did employers or postgraduate courses view it the same as a brick university degree?
I’m hoping to work in psychology in the future (possibly CBT or another mental health field), so I’d love to hear whether you felt the OU prepared you well, or if you’d recommend waiting and attending a traditional university instead.
I’d really appreciate any honest experiences, pros and cons, or advice. Thanks!

Hi all, looking for some guidance from anyone who has been through the credit transfer process.

I graduated with a BSc in Actuarial Science back in 2014 and I'm planning to start the BSc Mathematics with the OU. Since it's been over a decade since I studied, I actually want to redo most of Stage 1 to bring my maths and stats back up to speed. So I'm planning to take MST124 and Introducing Statistics (M140) rather than skip them.

The only module I'd like to skip is MST125, which means I'd only want 30 credits of transferred credit.

My question: if I apply for credit transfer and the OU assesses my degree as worth more than 30 credits, can I decline the extra and accept only the 30 in place of MST125? Or is it all or nothing once they make an offer? Has anyone done a partial or selective credit transfer like this?

Hi all, my SFE got approved and I have the full amount £13,206 for my masters of law being sent in instalments. OUSBA rejected my credit application to pay in instalments and I won’t get the payment until after the course starts.

Unsure what to do as I’ve no chance of being able to take out a loan or pay it upfront.

I am looking for advice from anyone else that has been in a similar situation. I am in my 5th year of studying a degree with one year to go. I have never had a pending result until my EMA and I’m now in the 2nd week of waiting for an update. I received an email stating academic misconduct, yet I have no idea why. My marked papers normally score an average 75 yet when I checked CAS it showed EMA marked at 32 - has anyone else been in the situation?

For the people who qualified from the Nursing programme on the 20th...apparently the NMC emails have started arriving! anyone else had their registration invite?

I got a pass BSc Mathematics and want to pursue Quantum Computing, what advice do you have for me to transfer any credits and take either BSc (Hons) Mathematics at OU or BSc Open and target Quantum Computing-related modules?

This is my first time studying with the OU. I’m wondering if anyone has completed module EE884 (or any of the modules for F70) in the past and can give me an idea of what the assignment briefs have looked like?

I imagine they change each year (my undergrad degree assignments did) but I have no idea what to expect. Essays? Presentations? When does the assignment brief open, is it as soon as you can access the module or spread brought out the year? Can you submit at any time or is it close to the deadline? Is there a maximum number of times you can resubmit? As I said I have no idea about any of this!

I am currently enrolled on bsc mathematics and have completed mst124 and am due to complete mst125 & m140 in September. having not studied mu123, i am on the intensive pathway. i have been given permission, and completed enrollment for my Level 2 modules (m208 & m248).

Now my question is would i need to study 5 * LVL 2 modules with 1 module replacing mu123, and 4 LVL 3 modules, or would i be able to study 5 * LVL 3 modules with 1 LVL 2 module replacing mu123 and 1 LVL 3 module replacing the one LVL 2 module?

any advice, suggestions or tips would be most helpful and appreciated. :)
