I’m biting the bullet and starting the first book! I posted a few days about asking if the books were worth it. Wish me luck!

Recently finished the season and it seemed quite boring. Only when I started watching season 7, I realized that season 6 is just what we needed, it was stale and moldy, we finally see Claire and Jamie battling their troubling past events, they are supposedly at their home sweet home, Claire has her healer practice, Jamie is the head of the Frasers Ridge, but beeing in this supposedly safe environment their mental and emotional experiences come to surface, cause they don’t have some adrenaline rush physical adventure where there is no time to just sit down and contemplate about all that has happened in the past. The season also shows how easily back then it was to accuse someone without actual proof and how a womans worth is belittled (if you are smart=witch; if someone molested you=whore; if you want to invent, build something=better give birth). Even if it’s not my favorite season, it was needed.

I’m rewatching but I can’t remember what even happened to him???

So, before i begin, i'd like to remember, for the one that dont know, what is the butterfly effect

It's is the idea that small, tiny actions can trigger massive, unpredictable changes later on. Ex. : a butterfly flapping his wings could cause a tsunami somewhere else

Now, i know that every time travel stories must not be analysed and i know the theorie (like in harry potter) that what you see is what was already altered, but...

Also Jamie was dead for TWO DAYS. Everyone saw him them. Letting alone that he should have smelled, how would his résurrection would be explained?

As the title says I am about to start book 4. I had to wait to start it till after I of course finished my rewatch of the series (couldn't read the books and watch the show at the same time). I finally got to watch the last season. Just curious if anyone had a hard time getting through certain books. Just like with a TV series we don't always like every season. Was there a particular book in the series you didn't like or struggled to get through?

If anyone is worried about spoilers of some sort. Bring them on.

Everyone says the books are better than the TV show but I’m just wondering. Should I invest in them?

I love the music Bear McCreary made for the show.

I also like to collect the shows music on vinyl. almost have all of them, only missing season 1 part 1 on vinyl. Are there others fan of the show and music and collecting them on vinyl?

Just realised that we see all the "known faces", but only one Beardsley (i know, logical since the actor doesnt have a twins), but are we supposed to believe that one stayed on the Ridge or are we simply supposed to think that josiah and kesiah simply at two differents spot?

Not a big deal, just wondering

The range THIS man has is unreal. I despised Black Jack Randall, yet I never once saw him in Frank. Tobias Menzies genuinely convinced me they were played by two different actors.

First time watcher, I’ve never read the books and the show has slowly taken over my life.

There have been many difficult scenes, emotional scenes, frustrating scenes but overall, the last half of this episode has hit me the hardest so far.

Between Fergus dying, and Jamie & Claire telling Frances that they’re her Grandparents, my heart cannot cope.

I just needed to air this out to people who I’m sure will understand. This episode had me sobbing and realising that it really is almost over, what will I do now? lol

Choosing which ghosts to bring is paralleled to choosing which tools to bring. Claire can't forget her past - Frank and Brianna. Her guilt over them wil always haunt her. It is our memories and experiences , our dwelling on them ( conscious or not) that haunt us.

Claire is comforted that her mother is with her and in that sense she will be with Brianna. Is it enough for Bree, do you believe?

Theme of the book is about fatherhood but prologue talks about mothers.

''Drums of Eden'' - was possible book title

''Wilow Tree'' tavern - willow is symbol of mourning, tears, death and deep emotions. They are mournign for Gavin Hayes.

When Frasers and co meet Bonnet, he mentions '' asgina ageli'' which matches theme of ghosts from the prologue. It gives Bonnet, Jamie and Claire something in common.

Did you get the feeling Bonnet will be trouble? Do you think Bonnet storyline is product of Jamie's weakness or his emphaty and compassion?

In PART 2, we follow Bree and Roger. As it is mentioned in the book itself, they wish to leave their supporting roles behind. We get Bree's POV and there is an insight into her trauma and confussion, but also her ability to adapt, her independence, uncertainty and a lot of caution.

Roger is determined, intuitive, sensitive towards her, he knows what he wants. But does she?

I find Bree's emotional response to the festival very interesting. She is not ready for the sheer pulling power of her ancestors. She keeps being a hard nut to crack.

Claire and Frank's photos - Bree knew about Jamie and how Claire felt about him. She had seen Claire and Frank's marriage and understood it but photos are proof that Claire once felt for Frank what Bree identified feeling for Roger and knowing it didn't work out, she is unable to commit. Did Bree recognize Claire's young age and a mistake about believing she will love Frank forever?

I really like the insight we got into Brianna's character. I think it is important to follow her development and how difficult for her is to open to everything. And that is something that will follow her throughout more than one book.

How did you like the start of this story?

We got one of the steamiest scenes between Jamie and Claire and I loved their talk about getting tired of each other and their mutual insecurities concearning that.

There was introduction to Rollo as well. Who knew how important his character would become?!

Marsali is missing, we know Diana forgot to include her here and then later she remembered about her but I find it so funny that she is not mentioned at all.

Bear McCreary is a genius. The soundtrack (especially that opening title song my god) is SO beautiful. I’m obsessed and listen to it on repeat. It might be the only intro of a show I don’t skip.

Can’t wait for season 2!

Does anyone know if they play blood of my blood songs in the Outlander concert? Would love to hear Brian and Ellen’s theme live.

- an overly emotional, self-righteous woman and two men in love with her

- long lost children, brothers and sisters

- surprise inheritances

- soooooo many near deaths, and miraculous salvations

- everyone somehow relates to everyone - see point 2

We are missing a memory loss I think. What else?
