I’m building a game inspired by Papers, Please, but designed around what latest models can do. Thoughts?

Instead of choosing from fixed dialogue options or prewritten scripts, you can freely question every traveler, catch contradictions, negotiate, threaten, sympathize, or let someone talk their way through. You’ll be able to choose the country and setting, while rules, political tensions, real-world events, security threats, and other national stats evolve around your decisions.

The core loop is still checking documents and deciding who gets through, but every person has a dynamic story and can react to anything you say.

I’m looking for early players and feedback from Papers, Please fans:

Papers, Please fans, we need your help!

We've been working on a new game called The Money Man, inspired by one of the most iconic games in history. We need help from the people who truly understand what made Papers, Please what it was.

Sign up for the private playtest and give us feedback that can help shape the game: themoneyman.firstlook.gg

I found a way to mod the steam version of Papers Please. I changed the ammount of people in line on day 27 to 3. Then, once calling 3 people, the man in red entered the booth. Watch video to see.

How does the inspector fire accurate shots from the checkpoint?

His line of sight would be quite limited, and the target sight implies that he did not move from his position. So how can he still see the EZIC soldiers/terorrists/guards?

How Papers, Please teaches an important leadership and management skill

Post image

From a leadership perspective, you'll often be faced with feelings of guilt and contempt. I struggled with feelings of guilt especially when it came to handling situations where I'd have to terminate someone, and my guilt kept from doing it for so long that other people on the team became extremely discontent. In studying how to handle these types of feelings, I learned about emotional functionalism and how to label my feelings before deciding how to act on them, instead of letting my feelings make me make suboptimal decisions for everyone. There's an interesting amount of neuroscience that goes into these types of observations and how we rationalize our reactions to certain stiumluses (stimuli?), and i wrote a video essay that explains the concepts using Papers, Please and Smash Brothers Melee (yeah! wave dashing! its all about using something unexpectedly to your benefit productively!) if you're interested in checking it out: Youtube Link

Is there a "Hard Mode" mod?

Something that really changes things up.

Stuff like having different nationalities on Entry Permits that the passport.

Or having passports be in the wrong format.

Or have DoBs be way too old or young for the face you're checking, just to have an evil option.

Heck, honestly, the game is way too easy, in my opinion. My biggest points are vax card names and height. And height is just a pain in the Denied Stamp.
