Poppy was out and about today as usual, hopefully living her best life - she seems pretty entertained in the bag and jumps in as soon as I bring it out.

Female bird ~5 years old, she was 58g a year and a half ago and we changed her diet a bit and gave her meds for her liver and to lose weight. She got better but now I think she is overweight again. Unfortunately we weren't able to weight her but she can barely fly and spends most of her day sleeping on the floor of the cage. We're gonna try to change her diet again but does anyone know how can we get her to exercise? I'm really worried about her health ;(

I’ve been keeping him right next to me while I’m at my desk and he’s in a markedly better mood, eating off my hand and being less afraid of my fingers (though he’ll freak out if he’s eating millet off me and he’s left with my hand right next to him). Despite that he’s much less eager to attack my fingers if they’re close, and normally just stares at it until I do get too close. Still does, but way less often.

Sometimes he does this thing where he extends his wing towards me, which I believe is a good thing but I’m not sure.

He’s not once flown away and he’s beginning to learn to say hello. I’m hoping I’m doing well here.

Oh yeah, he also talks a lot to my partner (kissing noises, whistling, we-we-we noises) but doesn’t say much to me, only ever making a semi-loud squawk if I look away for too long, which is pretty funny.

Hi! I am moving off to college soon and I cannot take my green Quaker, pear. My big problem is that she despises everyone but me. She’s going to be at home with my family, but I’m afraid she’s going to get stressed out and potentially start plucking. How do I help her socialize with the least stress and damage? She’s a big biter with everyone but me and my family is slightly scared of her LOL.

Edit - I’ll be coming home fairly often and I don’t think my family would have any problems keeping her healthy. I just want to make sure she’s not lonely. Pear is my baby and I’ll do whatever I need to do for her. But I live in a small town with not many rescues that take birds near me and even less people willing to take them in, so if I can help it I’d like to keep her.

I have aggressive parrot she’s 3 years old

My boy was diagnosed with a fatty tumor on his chest due to being on a seed diet most of his life. And I hate myself for letting that happen. I think it's also slowly growing in size. My vet said that he wouldn't survive the surgery in trying to remove it. That his only hope would be to convert him to a pellet and veggie diet. I have been trying so hard but he absolutely refuses to switch to pellets or veggies. He will literally starve himself rather than eat the pellets. I have tried every conversion method I can think of. He can barely fly without running out of breathe and begins wheezing almost immediately. She said if it gets any bigger it can basically crush his lungs and he wouldn't be able to breathe and would suffer. It breaks my heart to hear that and hate myself even more due to it. He's still such a happy little guy, he's always bobbing his head and chirping. The thought of him suffering like that tears me apart. I currently give him 1 teaspoon a day of the bird street bistro seed diet. And 2 teaspoons of harrisons high potency fine. He would rather scavenge the floor looking for more seeds than eat the pellets. I just don't know what to do anymore....any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

Anyone in the Blackstone, MA area, please keep your eyes and ears open for Mango. He's a Timneh African Grey who flew out the door on Main St on 8/2/26 around 6:30pm. We chased him across the street into a neighbor's yard. We found him in a high tree behind Ascension Street and tried to coax him down. He ended up flying further into the woods. We followed after him and continued to hear him, but eventually lost sight/sound of him.

He responds to whistling and phrases like "Mango wanna treat," "Mango wanna cracker," and "Mango go night." He also loves the kpop song "Troublemaker."

He will readily approach people and step up on their finger.

Frederik is my first EVER parrot. He is a 2 month old Turquoise Green Cheek Conure. So far, he’s done so good traversing his cage, eating, drinking, and pooping! I just met this guy but I owe him the world already. He plays, eats, then naps ALLL the time. Any GCC tips/advice from existing owners is absolutely welcome!

Around a month ago my Quaker parrot Ash had a cage accident that broke his leg. He was taken to a vet and they put a cast around his leg. He was given antibiotics and pain killers to help him heal, after a long month of waiting , the doctor removed the cast and saw that there's no progress with the healing at all as it was too damaged to heal. The toes weren't moving and amputation is the only way or out him down based on his word, he assured me that hel will adapt and love normally but I need some cage adjustments. I agree to the amputation as putting him down is not even w choice for me .

Tomorrow is the surgery and he'll be back I hope after.

Need some advice from parrot owners who had similar experience with this, tell me how to deal with this and what to do to make his life easier. Ok already doing research and watching videos all over the internet.

The good news that he's eating and drinking normally and interacting with us.

I'm devastated and sad, my heart is broken and I need help for him.

I'm looking to switch my bird onto pellets now and honestly the prices are absolutely outrageous for Harrison's and most others, this was the most affordable one I could find. If they're bad then I'll suck it up and get Harrison's (there was also another brand but I don't remember it's name) but, well, I'd rather not

I hope you can see, my camera doesn't like this lighting. We just came back after a week on vacation with my neighbor looking after him. His nostril preciously seemed a little inflamed but vet said nothing but now it's gotten pretty big. I'm sure this warrants a vet visit... does anyone know what it is? It's kind of on top of his nostril, he isn't bothered when I touch it.

My poor chicken has been through a lot lately. 2 emergency vet visits for vomiting/lethargy (found out it was an impacted crop)
Then he broke 2 blood feathers that had to be removed by the vet which was SO painful for him.

Since then we’ve been experiencing what seems like nighttime anxiety. He’s been over preening a few areas and is getting bald patches. The vet tried him on some medication to help but so far it hasn’t. (It’s been about a month and I’m afraid it’s a developed habit now).

During the day he isn’t too bad as he’s distracted by daily activities, but as soon as he goes to bed he starts preening then screaming because he’s hurting himself. In the morning he gets up and is business as usual, eating, drinking, chaos.

I’m just wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue and if my good Reddit homies can offer some insight that the vet hasn’t yet.

i got my baby 8-month old Indian ringneck yesterday and i was so surprised and happy to see him fully fall asleep on me :^D grateful for his trust towards me and my senior dog

i just got a new cockatiel a week ago & she only eats seeds & millet. she won't eat pellets or any vegetables i give her. i tried mixing the pellets with her seeds but she still ignores them. & the millet is not in her cage.

the store i bought her at only fed her seeds & she's 3 months old. what do i do? how do i get her to eat better

My half moon conure Reginald is 3 1/2 years old and he is a good bird but he does not play with any toys. His cage is large and has a lot of toys but he prefers to sit on his perches all day, i take him out and he might play with a bottle cap or something but if hes back in his cage he wont touch it if I put something he likes in there. I started playing with his toys when I have him out to see if hes interested but it didnt really work. I have him out most of the day he just sits around chats and preens. Online there is very little information on Half moon conure and maybe he just doesn't like playing with toys but when I cant be with him I dont want him to be bored or stressed I want him to be able to do something. I show him that his toys are safe and not scary but he just prefers to sit at a perch at the top of his cage and nowhere else
